7/13/24 - Red Bank, TN

 

Three triple threats feed into a final triple threat to crown out 2024 ACTION Futures Winner! This SCI Showcase has a long history of competitors staking their claim and making it not only in the scene, but all the way to TV in some cases. Carmen Michaels is our announcer! Let’s go! 

First Round: Kasey Owens vs Jameson Shook vs MacKenzie Morgan

Owens and Shook clearly have issue with each other, especially after Thursday’s failed TWE title bid. Ref Kim checks Owens boots and sure enough he’s got brass knucks. MKZ and Shook take turns atomic dropping him over and over. This is a prolonged double team on Kasey. It finally breaks down and Owens blasts Shook with a flying headbutt, MKZ right in there with a knee to the chin! This match is going nuts as Owen’s nether regions are taking a beating between these atomic drops, get hung up in the ropes and slamming into the buckles. Owen’s back in it, whipping MKZ around so hard the ring shakes. Shook is having a hard time staying in this as everyone he gets back in, SOMETHING sends him to the floor. Finally he’s in and Owens is getting battered. Huge chokeslam kick combo. MKZ tries a press slam on Owens but can’t quite make it…Shook in and hits an electric chair iconoclasm into Owens and snags the pin to advance! If the loss wasn’t bad enough, Owens got busted open somewhere in that finishing sequence and is recovering on the ramp, having to watch a victorious Shook walk past him while he’s being tended to.

First Round: Dex Royal vs A-Game vs Anakin Murphy

Huuuuge pop for Anakin here. This goes right into rapid pin falls attempts and high paced attacks. Brief stalemate when they get each others feet but Anakin uses the moment to go wild. This is alllll action, from the moment go. A-Game with a snap German that catches Murphy out of the air. He moves on Dex who last lands some wicked slaps. Dex with a double stomp on Murphy that he just stands in and holds that pressure on. Dex with a Spanish fly to A-Game and a spike hangman’s ddt that should be it. Murphy makes the save! Dex hits another double stomp but to the apron this time…Dex brings him back in for the pin…Murphy out at two and quickly reverses the pin and gets the three! Royal is shocked but hell of a show from all three talents here. 

First Round: The Wall Tyler Stevens vs Tim Bosby vs Kody Fluffman 

This is Three Big Men in three different contexts. Three different cuts of meat…but this sure seems like it’s gonna be a meat match. Fluff and Bosby can’t take Wall off his feet. Fluff with a sequence of rebound shoulder blocks…A last one sents Bosby flipping to the mat. Bosby catches a fluff roll and wants to slam him back but Wall in with a big boot. Fluff baited into cornering spearing Bosby. Wall tossing them around like rag dolls. Fluffman with a huge rally. He throws Wall back and tries to steamroll him for the pin. Bosby tries to German Fluff away but Wall boots them over. Wall gets Busby up for a World Strongest Slam but Fluffman spears them both! Bosby up and just throwing Germans with abandon until Wall is sent to the floor. Fluff on a roll but Bosby counters….Release German to Fluff! Huuuuuge F5 to Fluffman for the win!!! Nice big fight feel here.

 

Carmen Michael brings out Lobo Okami, who hasn’t been wrestling for a literal year, due to a pile of injuries. But he’s not ready yet. There’s more healing to be done. More procedures. But he wanted to talk to the people and let them know what’s up. He promises that he will be back…he just doesn’t know when. But he promises that when he is ready to go, the first match will be HERE. He misses us and loves us and he can’t wait for that day.

ACTION OPPORTUNITY GAUNTLET

The winner of this is the first entrant in the 2025 ACTION FUTURES tournament. This is a royal rumble style 8-person match where over the top Rope and pinfalls/submission both count. 

Up first, we have Jay Lucas vs J Villa. They go toe to toe until Damon Stryker makes his entrance. He hits that moonsault ddt on Lucas. Villa doesn’t like that “he’s mine!”. Huge backbreaker on Stryker as Pha’Nesse makes their entrance! Falcon arrow to Lucas! Aaron Roberts hits the ring. Dude is huuuge. Stryker quickly murdered with a swinging uranage! How did that man hit THAT dropkick! Eddie Hendrix out next! Big strong guys matching up! Hendrix bowled over but Roberts comes running and falls victim to the old rope pull trick and becomes the first elimination. Jay Tyler out next. He traps the hand of Hendrix and boots him over. Cruz Rivera is our last entrant as Tyer eliminates Villa. Cruz with a quick spike to Striker that ends his night. Pha’Nessie being ganged up on! Lucas with a springboard right into a rear naked choke from Hendrix! Tap out! Pha’Nesse with the quick roll up and Hendrix is out too! Cruz and Pha’Nesse trying hard to eliminate each other…River slammed down and Pha’Nesse gets another pin! Tyler firing up but rams himself into the buckles…Pha’Nesse with a scissor kick for the win! We have our first entrant in the 2025 Futures tournament!!! Crowd loved this. 

 

Alexis Littlefoot vs Kaia McKenna

Littlefoot gives up size to McKenna but she is clearly the aggressor against the Good Witch. Kaia gets ahold of the arm and tries to wrench it from the socket. Littlefoot trying to flip free but McKenna is holding firm. Littlefoot rolled into a pinning predicament and she seems offended that Kaia would even try that. Hard back elbow from Alexis. “THATS SOME MAGIC FOR YA”. Earthquake senton for two! Littlefoot stays on it but Kaia hits a one arm bomb to get the pin! 

Andres Reyes vs Love Doug

Reyes is not here to play Doug’s games but he goes into the rest of love. Reyes has a lot of love it seems but the Cupid has way more. Prom pose! Reyes accuses Doug of nothing taking this seriously…and eats a fist full of flower petals. Reyes with some hard hits and chops, trying to break Doug’s heart! Cupid’s arrow is finding its home as the Bulldoug connects! Andres tries a springboard but slips on the rope…he turns into a boot from Doug…SLICE OF LOVE! Love Doug wins!!!

 

It’s time for the mystery match. Who is the “Former SCI Finalist” who will be competing against Mortar tonight. Oh my lorb it’s Gary Jay! This is gonna smack. Crowd is on their feet for the stiff Robo ginger…as Mortar tries to play dress up with his entrance gear on Ref Kim and Carmen Michael. 

Mortar vs Gary Jay

Jay runs in and Mortar pops him up and hits a one arm slam! Dive right to the floor! Jay returns fire and flies right into the chairs! Mortar with a dive and eats concrete! Hard chops on the post and apron! Mortar with an eye poke and he press slams Gary into the support beam. This is a big fight crowd pleaser for sure! Hard thudding chops from mortar. Hard whip drives Jay sternum first into the buckles. Mortar misses a springboard cross cross body…Gary starts lighting him up! Mortar tries a F5 but Gary hits a blu-ray on the reversal. Both men staggering to their feet…huge chop battle back and forth. Gary eats a huge corkscrew superplex! Mortar wants a discus clothesline but Gary collapses. Mortar running his mouth and that fires the barn owl back up. Gary Jay out of the corner with a hard right hand that lays Mortar out for the three. Gary grabs the mic. “I am Him. I will always be him”. The crowd pops big for Mortar as he’s leaving. For people seeing him for the first time, this was a HELL of an intro.

Tournament Final: Anakin Murphy vs Jameson Shook vs Tim Bosby

This is a very hot final for this room. All three guys are very over with this crowd. Anakin tries to hold court in the center of the ring but Bisby gets to slamming everyone. Bosby stacks then both up but Anakin slips and hits a chop block. Shook and Murphy working together to deal with this threat. Bosby throws Murphy off and Germans Shook for two! Shook whipped up and over the buckles! Murphy trying to lariat Bosby…failing that, a tornado ddt almost does the trick! Shook heading up top…Meteora is Bosby…Anakin comes down on Shook with a double stomp! Shook kicks out! Murphy batters him down with forearms…he knocks Bosby off the apron…Shook suddenly pops Murphy into an electric chair….big forward slam off the shoulders ends the tournament for Chattanooga’s favorite twink and give the ACTION Futures Tournament to Jameson Shook! 

As a reminder, this win enters Shook in the SCI Scramble tonight for a shot to either be an SCI tournament alternate TONIGHT or to be the first entrant for next year! Crowd is on their feet cheering for Shook. Jameson and Muohy share a hug before the ring is take me over by Scott Hensley, Matt Griffins and former ACTION Futures winners Rachel Armstrong and Manders.  Shook immediately thanks TWE for giving him the ability to have this spot. That brings the entire TWE locker room out to celebrate. Shook says this is their medal. They ARE the Scenic City. Great moment. This show ruled. My feeling was (and confirmed by a few longtime fans around the arena) that this was the top-to-bottom strongest Action Futures Show there’s ever been. What a lead-in to tonight!
