Where did Hijo del Vikingo go? Typical AEW to push someone and then he disappears.
He disappeared because he was injured wrestling for Lucha Libre AAA and underwent knee surgery back in February. That's not on AEW.
What was better? 2001 CZW or today's GCW?
I don't think I can honestly compare the sheer insanity of 2001 CZW to anything else and that it will stand up. That was some truly insane, groundbreaking stuff in its era. You had The Backseat Boyz, Ruckus, Nick Mondo, Ric Blade, Zandig, Mark & Jay Briscoe, Wifebeater, Nick Gage, Nate Hatred, The SAT, Lobo, The Amazing Red and a LOT of others who either pushing the boundaries of athletic, innovative wrestling and/or the sheer mind-shattering violence. If you were there live, it's hard to have anything else live up to some of that content from that era. It's whatever the person watching believes and I think if you are younger and enjoying GCW, you will lean into GCW. To me, it's a spiritual successor of CZW, but nothing could beat CZW in 2001. I don't think it's fair to compare what a 2024 company does to what someone pulled off in 2001 era. Different time, different technology, different era, different talent.
