CM Punk appeared as a surprise at the WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, once again ruining Drew McIntyre's attempts to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
McIntyre, who won a MITB Ladder Match earlier in the show, cashed in during Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest, making it a Triple Threat match. Just a minute or two into that, CM Punk hit the ring in street clothes and attacked McIntyre, beating him with a steel chair outside on the floor to a massive roar and Punk chant. Punk then struck him with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt, setting up Priest pinning McIntyre.
Obviously, this continues the path for Punk vs. McIntyre, likely at Summerslam in Cleveland. Seth Rollins was also upset with Punk over the turn of events, teasing that WWE will eventually get back to that rivalry with Punk, a match that was initially earmarked for Wrestlemania 40 before Punk tore his triceps in the 2024 Royal Rumble match while battling McIntyre.
