Mace and Mansoor in ROH? This isn't the old Ring of Honor anymore, is it?
It hasn't been the old Ring of Honor since Gabe Sapolsky was fired as booker. Then, it wasn't the old ROH when Cary Silkin sold it. Then, it wasn't the old ROH when Sinclair sold it. Ring of Honor is going to be whatever the owner and the booker want it to be - and that's Tony Khan. It's going to be something ancillary to AEW and that means that it's going to reflect who Khan believes will be best for the product. I am actually hopeful we'll see some of the Mansoor we saw vs. Cesaro as a singles talent in ROH and I'm willing to see what he and Mace will showcase for themselves outside of the WWE system.
Any update on the Teddy Hart legal situation?
There's been no movement since he missed yet another court date in early April. A bench warrant for his arrest was issued and then rescinded, although there's no word why it was rescinded. There's been no new court dates scheduled since.
What’s your take on the whole Kevin Kelly-AEW situation?
We only know what Kevin Kelly has said publicly and it's obvious from my POV that he was lashing out on Twitter the weekend of Sting's retirement. Whether he was in the right or not, it took attention away from Sting on a major PPV weekend for AEW, so I can understand why that would be the beginning of the end for their professional relationship. Kelly's best work was New Japan and I don't think he translated strongly to AEW Collision, but that doesn't mean he might not have gotten into the groove. If it does end up in court, we'll see what comes out in discovery, but my feeling is that it won't get that far.
The guy suing AEW and WWE for stealing his ideas is in jail for throwing urine on a guard in a jail? How is THIS not a WWE storyline?
Maybe it will be one day, but yes, he is.
Have you heard of any new potential topic for Dark Side of the Ring when it returns?
I have no idea if they will be pursuing the topics but two I've heard bounced around are Ludvig Borga and Dennis Coralluzo.
Does Paul Levesque yell at the announcers the way Vince McMahon was said to have done?
No, I don't believe so. I've never heard of that happening, certainly not at the level McMahon was doing it.
