It is Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is coming to us from the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.
Rush vs MJF
We start right off with introductions and are told there will be no commercials for this match.
They immediately start by throwing hands in the middle of the ring. They run the ropes and when Rush drops down, MJF structs over him. They trade chops and after MJF gets the crowd to cheer louder, he pokes Rush in the eyes. Rush then hits a headbutt knocking MJF down. MJF is bleeding from the mouth and after MJF takes a few more shots, he gets a sunset flip for two. Rush then drops MJF with a roundhouse punch.
Rush lays in forearms in the corner and then charges at MJF, stops short and kicks MJF in the face. MJF leaps up and takes Rush down for a ground and pound. Rush gets in a blow and grabs a rear chinlock. MJF escapes and Rush gets a back suplex for two. Rush stomps MJF down in the corner. Rush goes for the Bull’s horns, but MJF dodges.
Crowd is loud for MJF.
MJF grabs an inside cradle for two, then a back slide for two. MJF hits a hammerlock DDT for two. MJF gets a spike piledriver after two attempts for two. Rush is able to grab MJF as he charges in and hits a suplex. MJF recovers for a mule kick and slips off the second rope, and Rush turns it into a pile driver for two.
The fight spills to the floor and Rush dominates there. Rush grabs a chair and the ref takes it away from him. As the ref takes it away, Rush grabs a camera cable to whip MJF with it before choking him with it. Rush then slams MJF’s head into the floor. Rush charges at MJF when MJF is set into a chair, and MJF is able to get a drop toe hold into the chair. They move to fighting on the apron, and Rush suplexes MJF to the floor.
Rush rolls MJF into the ring and Rush calls for the Bull’s Horns. MJF meets him with a lariat and both men are down. MJF is up first and gives Rush ten into the turnbuckle and then ten blows in the corner. MJF gets a heat seeker and a vertical stalling brain buster for the pin and the win.
Winner: MJF
Really solid brawl bringing back MJF.
Brian Cage, Hechicero and Gates of Agony are on the big screen to taunt him saying the Elite want them to send him a message that they are coming for him at Forbidden Door.
In the back, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Dante Martin and Mark Briscoe are with Renee Paquette. Mark has TWO words of the day for his promo, vengeance and redemption. His promo is interrupted by Jack Perry walking through and he picks right up where he left off.
Will Ospreay comes to the ring and he’s got something to say, but Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana join him in the ring. Will reminds us that he once held three different championships at the same time. He’s going to test Swerve because he is the best wrestler in the world. Swerve says that’s not true and HE is the best wrestler in the world. Swerve says that he’s been working in two worlds, and he asks if he will have Don Callis with him to help him TRY to take his title.
Will says he doesn’t need Don Callis and can do it by himself. Will then runs down the people he’s been beating over the last year and asks if Swerve feels the pressure of being in the ring with the best in the world. He says no matter which finisher he uses, he will take that title from him. He says if he used the Tiger Driver 91, Swerve wouldn't get out of the match alive.
Swerve then says that he doesn’t have any friends because he went through them to get the title. Swerve goes over the injuries he could deal out and would he still be Will Ospreay? Because no matter what happens to him, he’ll still be Swerve Strickland. He will have to sacrifice everything to win the title like he did.
Will says not to make it personal and Nana says they need to save all they’ve got for Forbidden Door.
Will says it’s his house and starts to leave, but Swerve asks what if he does want to make it personal, because when it comes to the title, it is personal and to send his regards to his wife and child.
Will comes back and they go face to face and have more words.
In the back Don Callis is with the rest of the family and says everything is gonna be fine.
Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Dante Martin and Mark Briscoe vs Konsuke Takeshita, Roderick Strong, Kyle Fletcher, and Zach Sabre Jr.
Everyone throws hands but Cassidy and Sabre, who take their time to take off their jackets. Fletcher takes out Cassidy and Briscoe takes out Sabre. They fight, Briscoe is thrown from the ring. Strong and O’Reilly brawl with a leg lock in the ropes. Cassidy puts a chair in the ring and Dodges a chop from Takeshita by sitting in the chair. Cassidy and Sabre lock up with an octopus hold in the ropes and Briscoe uses the chair as a launch pad.
Dante leaps onto everyone on the floor as we go to picture in picture. When we return to full screen, Cassidy and Sabre are tagged in and trade a quick series of holds and when Sabre rolls out of the ring, Takeshita makes a blind tag and he drops Cassidy with a big blow. Strong tags in as O’Reilly tags in as well and Strong gets a back breaker for two. They trade blows and Dante and Sabre are tagged in and Dante is able to get in moves on all of Sabre’s team.
Fletcher is able to feed Dante into Takeshita on the top for a power bomb for two, broken up by Briscdoe and Cassidy break it up. Takeshita and Strong have words as we go to picture in picture. When we return to full screen, Briscoe tags in and runs wild on Sabre’s team. The rest of Bricoes’ team tag in one by one to drop from the top on Takeshita until Cassidy covers for two. Sabre holds Cassidy’s foot to allow Takeshita to get a big boot.
Then we get each person getting a big move on the last person in the ring. That sequence ends with Sabre and Cassidy trading holds and Sabre gets a pin with a bridge for two broken up by O’Reilly. Strong charges at Cassidy, but O’Reilly shoves Cassidy out of the way to take the blow and Cassidy hits the Orange Punch on Strong for the pin and the win.
Winners: Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Dante Martin and Mark Briscoe
That was a crazy pinballing showcase of big moves, all well timed. Super exciting, not in any way realistic.
Jack Perry attacks Dante as he goes up the ramp. Takeshita and Briscoe fight their way up the ramp, and Sabre and Cassidy face off in the ring.
We then get a video of Mecerdes Mone and her training for her match at Forbidden Door.
We then see Ruch in the back and Don Callis shows and offers him an opportunity.
So much for La Faccion Ingobernables, I guess.
The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) AEW Tag Team Champions vs The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) in an Eliminator Match.
Max’s mic is cut off by Okada in the back as he continues his Jesse Pinkman impersonation.
The Bucks try to attack from behind, but the Acclaimed are ready for them and they brawl all around the ring. When the fight gets into the ring, the bell rings and Nicholas has to take the Shiver Me Timbers. Nicholas gets a jaw breaker and tags in Matthew. Matthew is whipped into the corner, and he kicks Bowens off the apron. Matthew then whips Caster into the Bucks’ corner and Caster goes up and over to the floor as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Max knocks both members of the Bucks off the top and hits a crossbody. Max gets the tag and Bowens runs wild. Bowens hits a Famouser, but his leg still hurts and Matt takes advantage of it with a superkick for two. Matt knocks Bowens off the ropes and Nick hits a senton from the apron into Bowens for two. The Bucks set for the EVP trigger and Bowens catches their legs and throws hands. The Bucks sweep one of his legs and nail him with superkicks. They pump up their shoes and superkick him again for two with Caster breaking it up.
Caster is dumped to the floor and Nick kicks Caster’s face from the apron. Bowens escapes the TK driver and Matt gets a low blow when the ref can’t see. Thai time Bowens takes a EVP Trigger for two and Caster breaks it up. Nick works over Caster on the floor and then the Bucks hit for a two person bulldog from the top for two.
Matt grabs a belt and goes to hit Bowens, but Bowens ducks and Matt almost hits the ref. Nick then tries and Bowens ducks that and Nick nails Matt instead while the ref was getting rid of Matt’s belt. Nick is dumped to the floor and The Acclaimed hit the Arrival and the Mic Drop for the pin and the win.
Winners and getting a Tag Team Title Shot: The Acclaimed.
In the back, Samoa Joe and Hook are talking Pizza. They then Burst into the Premier Athlete’s locker room, where there is a note challenging them to a match on Collision.
We come back to the ring for the Women’s AEW Championship Contract Signing. Mariah May introduces Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm to join her in the ring. Mina says that Storm has gotten soft and weak as champion, and people want HER to be the champion. She will take the title and “her girl”, Mariah May. Toni says that if Mina raises her voice again, she will slap her…um….boobs off. Toni gives the advice of “Chin up, tits out, and watch for the shoe”.
Mina says Mariah needs to choose between the two of them, and Saraya and Harley Cameron interrupt and Anna Jay attacks Mina from behind. The table is set up in the corner, and after Toni attacks Saraya. Toni goes for a hip attack, but Saraya is pulled out of the way and Toni goes into the table.
On the stage, Mina watches the attack with Mariah at her bosom.
We get the tournament brackets for the Owen Hart cup.
Kris Statlander w/Stokely Hathway vs Nyla Rose in a Owen Hart Tournament Match
They lock up and Nyla holds her ground. Statlander goes for a shoulder tackle, but Rosa doesn’t move and then knocks her down with a shoulder tackle of her own. Rose stomps her down in the corner. Rose gets a cross body and Statlander rolls out of the ring. Rose drapes Statlander on the top rope, but Statlnder is able to recover and knock Rose to the floor as we go picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Statlander has a rear chinlock and is on Rose’s back. Rose backs into the corner and then whips her across the ring, charges into her and hits a clothesline. Rose hits a cannonball for two. Statlander gets a trio of kicks and covers for two. Statlander goes to the top and misses a 450 as Rose dodges, hits a back elbow and covers for two. Rose goes to the top and Statlander sweepes her legs and kicks Rose in the head. Statlnder pulls Rose off the top into a tombstone piledriver for the pin and the win.
Winner and moving on: Kris Statlander
It’s a damn shame that Nyla has to be the sacrificial lamb to Statlander, because she could really break out. She’s funny, strong and makes her opponents look great.
Hathaway says that if Willow Nightingale attacks them, he will make sure she is in jail. Willow is on the big screen, and she says if she wins her match, there will be no more running and she will beat Statlander and go to All In for the title.
Renee is with Private Party and they are looking forward to their match on Rampage. Jericho interrupts them and says when they face Luchadors, he always avoids the pile driver. Large William says he is looking forward to their match on Saturday and Bryan Keith says they better respect Chris Jericho if they don’t want a Tope.
Daniel Garcia vs the already in the ring Rhett Titus
Matt Menard joins commentary wearing Orange. NOT A GOOD MOVE, BRUV!
And Garcia gets a front chancery into a DDT for the pin and the win.
Winner: Daniel Garcia.
Matt Menard is attacked by Gates of Agony right after the match. Cage and Hechicero attack Garcia. MJF charges the ring and takes out Hechicero. He gets a low blow on the Gates of Agony, but Cage finally takes out MJF. Hechicero gets a brutal arm bar, and Will Ospreay runs to the ring to help MJF.
MJF and Ospreay come face to face and MJF takes his leave.
In the back we see that Brian Cage is being held back from attacking Ospreay and he says they can fight on Collision.
Pac vs Claudio Castagnoli in an Owen Hart Tournament match
Bryan Danielson joins commentary.
Pac hits a drop kick, goes to the top for another drop kick and follows Claudio to the floor. They brawl around the ring and Pac is able to hurt Claudio’s hip. Back in the ring Pac hits another drop kick from the top. Claudio rolls out of thePax ring and Pac goes to the top again. Pac joins him and Claudio is able to hit the pop up uppercut as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Pac gets a boot up in the corner. Pac then dodges a spear from Claudio and Claudio goes through the ropes to the floor. Pac gets a hurricanrana from the apron and then a moonsault from the apron. Pac rolls Claudio into the ring and gets a springboard elbow from the apron over the top rope. Pac tells Claudio to get up and slap him. Claudio gets up with an elbow and they throw hands.
Pac gets a snap German suplex and then a series of kicks. Pac goes to the top and Claudio dodges the Black Arrow. Claudio gets a running uppercut for two. Claudio gets the giant swing, and then hits a running clothesline for two. Claudio tries for a ricola bomb, but Pac reverses it into a brutalizer as Claudio is standing. Claudio counters and gets a sharp shooter. Pac goes for the rope and Claudio grabs his arm and transitions to a crossface. Pac rolls over for two. Pac gets an inside cradle and they go back and forth with two counts.
They trade rollups for two and Pac finally is able to hold on for three.

Claudio refuses to shake hands and after the match, Pac stares down Bryan Danielson at ringside.
