Wrestling Open  “TOURNAMENT THURSDAY”

6/13/24 Worcester, MA

The 2024 Eliminator Cup tournament kicks off tonight! 8 teams are vying to become the inaugural Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships. All four first round matches will happen tonight!

Spotlight Match: DJ Powers vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball) - Good back and forth match here. Marbury wins with a high crossbody.

Match 1: Brick City (Victor Chase & Julio Cruz w/ TJ Crawford & Love Doug) vs The Prodigal Sons (Lucas Chase & Sammy Diaz w/ Brother Greatness)

I worry that Brick City is on the same page tonight…but reading from entirely different books. Cruz is pretty much a snarling beast through their entrance and intro and it’s clear that Brick City’s normal chemistry is in trouble. Victor with a distract and Cruz hits a corner spear on Lucas. LC taking a beating but he back body drops a rizz bomb. Tag to Sammy! Cruz off the ropes but he accidentally trips himself on TJ Crawford’s hand. Cruz immediately blames Love Doug. In the chaos, Diaz hits Cruz with a high knee and a huge cradle shock for the win!

Winners: Prodigal Sons

Cruz is mad but he’s too hurt to lash out at his teammates. As we start watching the promo for the next match, JGeorge and CPA emerges from the curtain in a full fight. CPA gets posted and JGeorge pummels him. CPA’s with a comeback but he gets blasted by JGeorge using a ringside photographer’s camera. JGeorge ties up his arms pulls out some clippers and starts shaving CPA’s beard off before the referee’s can break it up. What just happened?!?

Match 2: Nahir Robles vs Megan Bayne

Do we really think Robles has a shot against the Megasus? Robles immediately attacks as Bayne turns around. Thrown out and Bayne is posted! The bell rings and Robles swarms. Bayne is having a hard time coming back with Nahir never letting up. Robles doing a great job of waiting for Bayne to attack, countering and landing something vicious. Bayne finally wakes up on a chop and starts tossing Robles with abandon. Flying lariat sets up the Bow Down Tombstone for the win. A valiant effort but Megan would not be denied.

Winner: Megan Bayne

The crowd hits a “New Champ” chant for Bayne, recognizing her upcoming challenge of Krule at Americanrana for the IWTV championship.

Smart Mark Sterling is out here to mediate a face off between The Kelly’s and Waves & Curls. Sterling is wearing a neck brace after he was horribly beaten on national television last night. They all signed a contract backstage that there will be no physicality in the ring tonight between them. We’re going to use our words. The Kelly’s say they attacked W&C because they don’t deserve the attention they get. They party too much and don’t put in hard work. They keep getting opportunities because they dance for us.  W&C reminds them how they busted up Trevon’s ankle. Trevon talks about the pain he felt when he lost his grandad…and he came to Wrestling Open to work. He talks about everything they’ve earned doing ring crew work, late nights, meal runs. They dance because they know we have been through stuff too. Jaelyn mentions that the contract they signed said no fighting IN the ring. They immediately hop to the floor. Do we have a match? Kelly’s go out the other side of the ring. Not tonight. W&C says they are absolutely going to dance SOON.

Match 3: Swipe Right (Brad Baylor vs Ricky Smokes) vs Above the Rest (Tristan Thai & Gabe Skye)

Fast start from ATR who almost end the night on Stokes early before Brad pulls him to safety. Swipe Right intercepts a double dive and we’re off to the races. Both teams just landing fast and hard tandem moves. All heavy artillery. Thai is isolated and Swipe Right just laying into him through several tags while Skye recovers on the floor. Dropkick backdrop combo for a near fall. Tristan with a break sling blade neckbreaker…tag to Gabe! Skye is kicking for the moon! Meteora slam combo but Brad breaks into! Smiles with a stampede style cutter on Thai for two. ATR with superkicks all around! Big Laid to Rest kill shot but Brad drags Ricky’s foot to the ropes. Gabe sent flying…straight right to Thai and a swipe left slam ends the ATR’s chances in the tournament.

Winner: Swipe Right

Match 4: Stetson Ranch ( Hammer Tunis & Steven Stetson) vs Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King)

The IWTV tag champs vs the most recent holders of the Eliminator Cup Championships…winning or losing this match has a lot of implications for both teams. Waller just handling Tunis in the early moments. Kylon gets a turn to hammer on Tunis. Stetson tries to interfere but King launches of Hammer’s back and Rana’s the boycow to the floor. We got a good spelling lesson in as Stetson tags in proper to start beating on Waller. King falls victim to the same tactic and manages to distract the ref FOR the ranch. Stetson tries to toss Waller but gets tornado DDT’d! Tag to Kylon! Great springing double armdrag! Ranch boys eating suplexes but Tunis manages to kick out. Stetson with the distract and big boot…Tunis with a Michanoku driver for two! King louding slapping skin. Waller is in and both teams are throwing kill shots into a full out brawl. The fight spills to the floor…both teams brawls on opposite sides of the ring…stetson makes it back in at 9. Waller should make it back but Tunis comes from under the ring and trips Dustin up…COUNT OUT NOOOOOO! Not the Ranch!

Winners: The Stetson Ranch

Match 5: Gabby Forza vs Allie Katch

If Katch wins this, she gets another shot at Megan Bayne’s undefeated streak. A returning Gabby Forza isn’t just going to roll over for Mommy. Allie takes the initial brunt of the war but a quick escape at the ropes and Katch has control with a big suplex and corner chops. Allie working the neck and trying to kill Gabby’s ability to power lift her. Arm wringer enziguri for two. Katch goes for the piledriver but Gabby flips out. Stiff ddt from Allie. Kick out! Forza throwing heavy clotheslines! Press slam despite the hurting neck. Allie dodges the Vader bomb…she goes for the piledriver, Gabby with a jackknife pin…FORZA GETS THE THREE!

Winner: Gabby Forza

Gabby tries to comfort Allie but Katch is despondent and shoves her away. She furious about the opportunity that was just taken from her, cleanly and without dispute.

Match 6: Church of Greatness (Ichiban & Tyree Taylor w/ Brother Greatness) vs Rex Lawless & RJ Rude

Rude is out here singing “All Star”. Please kill me. He starts yelling at anyone who tries to sing along. Good swerve of the singing gimmick. Brother Greatness is not immediately ringside for this one, Tyree doesn’t seem thrilled by that. Tyree crushes RJ with a chop and he immediately tags out. Lawless and Tyree do some Kaiju s***. RJ tries to interject and he does no damage but the distraction lets Lawless hit a huge boot. Tandem slingshot cutter slam for two. Rude feeling himself and grabs a mic to sing. More all star. Argh. Tyree hits a pounce and RJ crashes and sends Lawless to the floor. Tag to Ichiban! Number One going wild! RJ  blocks the ichi bankai but eats a destroyer! Lawless makes the save! Ichiban gets caught and Rex hits an air raid crash into Rude’s knees. Tyree spears Lawless out of the ring! Ichiban tries one punches….The small guys get on opposing shoulder and we got a chicken fight! RJ dropped. Lawless sent flying. RJ eats a Brooklyn Zoo Bomb and an Ichi Bankai for the win.

Winners: Church of Greatness

Swipe Right is out of the curtain to tell the Church to celebrate WHILE THEY CAN. It’s Swipe Right vs CoG next week in the semis. Swipe Right says they are a TEAM…CoG is just people. They call the church a cult and try to leave. Tyree says it’s time to preach and church is in session. Swipe Right is full of deadly sins. The only swiping that happens next week…is three swipes down when Tyree and Ichiban put the pretty boys away. Ichiban says AMEN!

Main Event: Max Caster vs Bobby Orlando

Caster tries to tell Bobby to back down and he’ll put in a good word for Bob with his famous friends on TV. Bobby is just shook by this and leaves the ring and starts to head to the back. Then he changes his mind. Bobby Bomb! Sick trick cutter for two! Caster tries a moonsault but Bobby does a Samoa Joe walk off! Back drop! Ten punches. Caster with a blatant eye poke and a hot shot immediately drops Bob. Orlando is hurting bad and Caster grabs the mic. Max calls him a cuck. He tries to call Bobby a disappointment but Orlando tries choke free. Caster cuts it off but runs into an AA. Bobby’s on fire! Huge suicide dive to the floor! Spear in the ring for two! Caster with a dragon screw…Bobby kicks off into a rollup for two! Confusion with the ref…Bobby popped up into a low blow. Orlando kicks out but Caster has a figure four applied! Bobby makes the ropes! Caster boots Orlando out of the ring. Caster tries a rope assisted pin but Ref Tyler catches him. Cutter! Dab elbow drop! Bobby wins! This was really good, not all work and a lot of storytelling.

Winner: Bobby Orlando

Bobby emphatically says he’s not a disappointment, as Caster goes crawling to the back.
