Welcome to this week's TNA Impact on AXS report!
We open with highlights of last week's 20th anniversary edition of Impact TV.
We are in Cincinnati, Ohio with Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt.
Mike Santana vs Zach Wentz
Santana showed a lot of intensity early on but was taken out by a Wentz moonsault to the floor. Wentz worked over Santana in the ring for some time, trying to wear him down. Wentz scored with a series of kicks to the back and then cinched in a side chinlock. Santana made a comeback but was taken down. Wentz nailed a two count after a swanton off the top. Santana came back with a big lariat and scored the pin.
Your winner, Mike Santana.
Good bout. Santana has brought some good intensity.
Santana and Steve Maclin went face to face as they are teaming tomorrow against the Rascalz.
They went to a sit-down interview with X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali. Ali put himself over but once he was asked if he was ducking Speedball Mike Bailey, suddenly Ali didn't have enough time to keep talking.
Earlier this week: The System did a promo. Eddie Edwards said he's been to the Hardy Compound before and bad things happen there but Moose wants to beat Hardy in front of his wife and kids. Alisha was trying to talk them out of it but Masha Slamovich showed and wanted to concentrate on the Tag Team titles. Alisha said they didn't have time for this and followed The System. The Hex told Masha this wasn't a good sign for their title reign.
TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion Masha Slamovich vs. Marti Belle
Marti tried to talk trash but Masha was unimpressed. They went back and forth working over the arm. Belle caught her with a big forearm smash but Masha took her down and nailed a big clothesline. Belle came back with a knee to the back while Masha was in the ropes. Allysin Kay interfered as the referee was distracted. Kay's distraction helped as Bella rolled up Masha for the pin.
Your winner, Marti Belle!
This was obviously a set up for a future tag bout.
Backstage, Steph De Lander told Xia Brookside she would tell PCO how she feels about him tomorrow. I hope they go to prom at Degrassi High together. AJ Francis and Rich Swann came by and took the rose that PCO had given De Lander.
Gia Miller interviewed Digital Media Champion AJ Francis and Rich Swann. Francis said that Swann interfering last week didn't hurt his title win, because your friends are supposed to have your back. The lights went out and PCO attacked. Security pulled them apart but PCO retrieved the now broken rose. The announcers noted De Lander would respond to PCO's love note tomorrow.
Tasha Steelz vs. Dani Luna
Tasha's entrance and body language is all business. Luna used her power early but Steelz tried to use her finesse. Luna caught her coming off the ropes and nailed an exploder. Steelz cut her off and maintained control for some time. Luna battled back but Steelz stayed on her. Luna kept kicking out. They had a really good, competitive series of exchanges before they kicked each other at the same time and crashed to the mat. They battled to their feet with Luna hitting a series of clotheslines. Steelz came back to cinch in a Rings of Saturn submission but Luna made it to the ropes. Luna came back with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Steelz nailed a rana out of a DVDR attempt. Luna blocked a Cutter and nailed a sit-down powerbomb for the pin.
Your winner, Dami Luna!
Steelz is just damn great in the ring and this was a good showing for Luna.
Gia Miller interviewed Joe Henry. He said The System beat him down last week and he felt he needed to learn a thing or two. He introduced a new mentor, Ace Steel. Steel said he knows he can push Hendry past his limits and destroy the glass ceiling. Kazarian showed up and said he destroyed everyone last week. He said Hendry and Ace don't have what it takes. Steel challenged Kazarian to a match at the PPV tomorrow and Kazarian agreed.
The System arrived at the Hardy Compound. Eddie Edwards said he knows a way in and suggested they go around back. Off to the commercial we go...
When we returned, The System walked past some spooky artwork. Alisha wondered who did the art. Moose said it was surely Jeff. Brian Myers said not to say that name. Hardy told them they should have come through the front because they missed all his traps. He said he wanted to introduce them to his family and named them all. Moose didn't care and said he was going to kick Matt's ass in front of them all. He advanced but Matt said he just set off the traps of booby. Lots of fireworks and smoke.
Brian Myers was on the ground and found an action figure. It transported him to the Hardy's arcade room which was titled, STARCADE. Myers was tormented by Hardy's kid. He came across skeletons that were meant to represent his past guises and failures. A skeleton meant to be Edge speared him. One of Hardy's kids hit the legdrop off a ladder.
Eddie Edwards was lost in the woods where he came across Wolfgang. Wolfgang asked him if was The American Wolf. Eddie said that was behind him. Wolfgang pointed out the full moon behind him and I sh** you not, Eddie Edwards turned into a werewolf! Things that never would have happened to him in Pro Wrestling NOAH, for $100, Alex.
We went to Alisha Ewards who found her way to Reby Hardy and The Gothic Baby. Gothic Baby didn't want to get out of her way and used FORCE POWERS to shove Edwards down. That will probably end up with more Internet praise than the Acolyte at this rate.
Moose looked for Matt Hardy and found himself at Senor Benjamin's house. Benjamin was in a theater watching The Final Deletion. Moose was in Hardy's childhood home. He said Hardy was a weird dude. Hardy attacked him from behind and put him in a wheelchair, rolling it into a wall.
Alisha was in a guillotine and Reby dropped it down on her. MURDER in prime time?!?
Hardy tossed Moose into the Lake of Reincarnation. Moose came out dressed like he was still an NFL Player. Hardy said Moose has been reincarnated to his best version ever and he wants Moose to face him at the PPV in his best form. Moose said he wouldn't make it to the PPV but Vanguard-1 distracted him. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate and The System were teleported back outside the Compound. Moose screamed Hardy was dead tomorrow.
If you like Broken Matt, this was for you!
Ash by Elegance vs. Jada Storm.
Rosemary was watching from the wings. Ash was in control for most of it. Storm showed some nice athletics. She teased a dive but got WALLOPED by Ash. Ash beat her down with right hands. She nailed a handspring elbow in the corner. Ash controlled and nailed a swanton bomb for the pin. The announcers mentioned her appearance at NXT Battleground and they noted Jordynne Grace would be commenting later.
They showed all the creepy Jonathan Gresham Octopus stuff. He was ready to fight Sami Callihan.
They went to a Jordynne Grace promo. She said she was disappointed. She should have known something like this was going to happen and she should have prepared. She's still Knockouts Champion and is returning the favor. She said she didn't care if it was an independent talent or someone from TNA, WWE, MLW, STARDOM, AAA or the NWA, come and take her title at the PPV. She said that no matter where you work, nothing can stop the Juggernaut.
Matt Rehwoldt and Tom Hannifan ran down the lineup for the PPV.
ABC vs. Ryan & Nic Nemeth
They noted this was the first time The Nemeth Brothers have ever teamed. Bey and Ryan went back early. Ace Austin and Nic tagged in. ABC tagged in and out, controlling Nic. He fought his way out but Austin snapped him with a great dropkick. Bey tagged in and they continued to work over Nic, including a double suplex. After a LONG time, Nemeth finally tagged his brother and Ryan cleaned house. Nic tagged back in (which was weird, since he just took a long beating) and hit a Famouser on Bey for a two count. The Nemeths hit a double clothesline on Bey. Ryan and Bey took each other out and crawled to their respective corners, tagging their partners. Ace Austin nailed Ryan with a bulldog off the ropes and smashed him with a kick to the face for a two count. ABC double-teamed Nick but Ryan broke up the pinfall. Everyone went into a crazy sequences of big moves and near falls. The crowd chanted for TNA for the first time in this episode. Ryan was sent to the floor, where Bey hit a pescado. Nic and Austin battled. ABC went for their finish but Ryan prevented it, Nic nailed the Danger Zone on Bey and scored the pin. Real good main event.
