Tyson Fury was always deemed the favourite because of his reach, size, and undefeated record, especially in recent major performances. On the other hand, Oleksandr Usyk was perceived as a strong and respected underdog because of his speed, skill, and undefeated record, too. However, after the near-disaster match between Fury and Ngannou, the odds changed in favour of Usyk. Originally, Fury was -260, and Usyk was +200.
However, the odds changed. For Fury, the odds were -125, while Usyk was priced at +100 in the match between them. Also, the over/under for total rounds completed is 10.5, with the Over favoured at -275. It continued to drop, more so when Anthony Joshua blew out Ngannou in the second round of their fight earlier in March.
Since Tyson Fury disagreed with the split decision, there is a probability of a rematch later this year. Fury believed that he did justice to the fight and won the match in his way. He even implied that the decision was based on sympathy about what was happening in Russia, Oleksandr Usyk’s nationality. With Fury’s rematch clause, its possibility is high. However, the odds have been quite unpredictable, so who knows what will happen?
This match was long anticipated. While its outcome was not all shocking due to Fury’s last near-miss match, it was still marvelling to see the mighty fall. Regardless of the outcome, these boxers are a testament to their exceptional resilience and skill. Although from different backgrounds, they slowly gained prominence and dominance in the heavyweight division.
Their fight was a historic event, as it crowned the first undisputed heavyweight champion of this contemporary era. Fans enjoyed every minute of the game and were quite entertained. Many also anticipate the possibility of a rematch, as stated by Fury, to contest Usyk’s championship title. So, you can look forward to tons of drama and probably a turn of events or not.
