COMPLETE AEW COLLISION REPORT

By Adam Cardoza on 2024-06-01 20:17:00

Welcome to the AEW Collision report!

I am filling in for Cory Strode this week.

FTR is out here to talk with Tony Shiavone. Tony knows they are banged up after Anarchy in the Arena. Wheeler says it’s a little embarrassing to stand out there, soaking in defeat. But they also said they would have to take their last breath to stop defending AEW….and he wants the Elite to notice that they are NOT dead. Harwood is struggling with the images of watching his teammates get ganged up on. There’s like ONE GUY with no breath support trying to boo FTR out of the building. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Harwood says that eventually Darby and Danielson will be back and 100%…..and they are coming back for the Elite.

Backstage video of Jack Perry from after Double of Nothing. He’s barely standing from exhaustion and being set on fire. He says that he is the one that is truly fighting and sacrificing for the future of AEW.

They recap the AEW TNT Championship situation.

Roderick Strong (w/ Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) vs Lio Rush

Strong is looking to get back in the win Column after dropping his International Title to Will Osprey. Lio wants to flip and fly but Roddy just pummels him into the corner and stomps him out. Harrrrrrrd chop and suplex. Lio trying to fight back but Strong is stalking him and just landing shot after shot. Big flapjack and a body toss. Roddy is taking him time and just proving him dominance. Rush fires up after Taven steals his coat. Strong sent to the floor and Rush hits a pair of high velocity suicide dives. Crowd popping hard for those. Bennet pulls the leg of Rush for a quick distract. It’s enough to have Strong catch Rush with a huge backbreaker. Rush tossed through the buckles into the post. Taven with an opportunistic boot on the floor. Rush with some quick dodges and just keeping Strong on his toes. spinning kick drops Strong! Rush with a quick rollup for two! Tornado ddt! Two! Rush to the top but Taven provides the distraction again. Rush with a moonsault to the ROH tag champs. Rush avoids Strong trying to capitalize on the diversion. First rope stunner! Rush tries to hit the frogsplash….Taven tries to interfere but Rush sends him flying into Bennet…Strong gets the knees up! Strong hits the End of Heartache for the win! This was awesome.

Winner: Roderick Strong

We watch how Will Ospreay punched his ticket for a world title match against swerve Strickland. But tonight he has to defend his newly won International Championship. Kyle reminds us that he’s the only one in the International Gauntlet to kick out of the hidden blade. He’s going to prove that everyone’s been overlooking him tonight.

They aired a backtage segment where Rodrick Strong got Tony Khan to agree to a AEW World Title match versus Swerve for Dynamite.

Daniel Garcia & Katsuyori Shibata vs The Workhorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)

Holy hell. Holy holy hell. Just go watch this one. This is the Workhorsemen I know from the Indies, super aggressive, hard hitting, chemistry for days. And on the other side is Garcia and Shibata which just makes for a ridiculously good matchup. These two teams just beat the F*** out of each other for about ten minutes. The crowd loves it. I loved it. This is absolutely 100% my kinda s***. I’m not gonna play by play this. Shibata and Garcia finally try to put the Workhorsemen down with sleepers. JD dropped from the hold with a hard slap and a Pk finishes the job. This ruled.

Winner: Garcia & Shibata

Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander said they wanted to apologize to Willow Nightingale by offering her a gift.  It was garbage because she's garbage.  Kris promised to take out everyone in her way.

Thunder Rosa vs Reina Dorada

Dorada making her AEW debut tonight, arriving from the Mexico. Good early graps as Rosa is easily controlling Dorada. Reina escapes the grip and lands some hard chops. Rosa cuts that over with a quick double stomp and bow and arrows her back. Rosa calls to Deonna Purrazzo in the camera and says this is for you, before hitting a snap suplex. Dorado trying to go toe to toe but Rosa drops her hard. Rosa hits a Tijuana bomb and that should be it but Reina kicks out. Rosa smiles as she wraps up Dorada’s neck and arches back to get the tap. This was a statement.

Cage of Agony (Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs KM, Danny Rose & Ricky Gee

This is gonna be a murder as Cage of Agony just starts to run them over. Cage is more than a match for KM. Huge deadline outside in suplex. Rose and Gee are just meat for the tenderizers that are Kaun & Liona. Rose sent flying into the sky and crashing to earth with a variation of the old Spirit Squad finish. Cool squash.

Winners: Cage of Agony

Mariah May said she would out Saraya on Dynamite.

Claudio Castagnoli vs Johnny TV (w/ Taya Valkyrie)

This is a cool match up. TV doesn’t even take off his sunglasses and boots Claudio in the gut. That’s not the wisest move as the Swiss Superman just overpowering TV. Claudio works his way towards the Giant Swing but Taya slides in to hold Johnny in place. As the ref gets Taya out of there, Johnny pops Claudio up and mule kicks him low. Claudio with the kick out! Johnny and Taya get to their public displays of affection but Claudio wants nothing to do with that. Toss to the barricade. Running double stomp to Johnny! Taya talking trash and distracts Claudio again to eat a superkick. Johnny throwing shots but Claudio catches him and hits a huge body toss! Uppercuts and a huge bot for two! Claudio wants the swing this time for real….Johnny tries to roll it up. Slugging it out on their feet. Johnny with a flipping corkscrew neck breaker. Taya with a slap to Claudio on the outside. He decks Johnny and goes after her. This allows Johnny to tornado over the corner to the floor. He tries for starship pain but Claudio crotches him on the top! Reverse Superplex from the top! Johnny kicks out! He puts on a sharpshooter but Taya tries to break it up. Claudio drags her in too! Johnny tries the mule low kick distract again but Claudio catches the foor! Giant Swing! Castagnoli gets up to speed and hits a huge lariat for the win! Solid contest!

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli

They aired a package on the Premiere Athletes.

Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor (w/ Anthony Agogo) vs The West Coast Wrecking Crew (Jorel Nelson & Royce Isaacs)

The WCWC don’t get an entrance but Tony Shiavone is making a point of putting them over as a top team on NJPW Strong. This is way more competitive than I think the crowd expected. Jorel and Isaacs are keeping on top of things early. Moriarty is finally able to isolate Isaacs at ringside. Taylor hits a hard right as Joel comes off the ropes and a package piledriver gets the win. Anthony Agogo hits a hard right on Isaacs to leave the WCWC laying.

Backstage with the Iron Savages and Jacked Jameson, they are getting hyped up about the trios division when Killswitch attacks them. We’re headed to the main event!

Main Event: Will Ospreay vs Kyle O’Reilly (for the AEW International Championship)

Let’s goooooooo. The crowd is AWAKE for this. Ospreay and O’Reilly testing each other early. O’Reilly absolutely has something to prove though. He starts dropping knees and working over the arm and shoulder. Wrenching back, using the nose for leverage. The arm is starting to get bad as well but Ospreay fighting through it. Little Kawada kicks on the apron but O’Reilly drops him on the apron arm first. Ospreay tries a sunset flip but O’Reilly transitions right to an armbar. Roll to the rope. Will tries to escape but Kyle puts him in a chair next to the barricade and blasts a dropkick. This is all O’Reilly, torturing the arm of Will.

Ospreay with a quick reversal and hits a tiger driver but can’t hook the leg. Kick out!  Will may be down a wing but he’s landing enzuguris and super kicks! Kyle blocks the Oz Cutter but another enziguri drops O’Reilly. He goes for the Oz Cutter again….Kyle catches another armbar!!!! Will stuck in there but still fighting. Kyle transitions to a triangle choke but gets bombed out of it. This is awesome. Hard head kicks from Ospreay. Kyle with a Regal Plex. HIDDEN BLADE!!!! Will rips off the elbow pad for another….knee to the chin! Double down! They struggle to their feet. Trading blows….hard shots…discus elbow from O’Reilly! Another hidden blade! Kick out! Ospreay hits Stormbreaker to get the win in a banger of a main event!

Winner: Will Ospreay

O’Reilly struggles to his feet as the champ celebrates. They trade words but shakes hands as we close the night.

Swerve cut a promo, promising to beat Ospreay and Strong.

Good show.
