5/31/24 Results from New Japan's Best of the Super Juniors 31 from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:
1 - Shota Umino, Shoma Kato and Katsuya Murashima vs. SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL
EVIL hits a Death Rider on Kato and gets the pin.
The announcers sold this as EVIL sending a message to Jon Moxley.
EVIL gets the mic and says that his match against Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Title will be a Lumberjack Handicap Match. This means House of Torture will be in full force at Dominion. House of Torture beats down Shota Umino on their way back to the locker room.
2 - El Desperado, Kevin Knight and Tomoaki Honma vs. HAYATA, Blake Christian and Boltin Oleg
Oleg pins Honma after a Kamikaze Slam.
3 - Kosei Fujita and Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Clark Conners and Gedo
Fujita applies an Indian Death Lock Stretch to Gedo. Gedo taps out.
4 - BUSHI, Titan and Shingo Takagi vs. TJP, HENARE and Callum Newman
HENARE pins BUSHI after hitting Streets of Rage.
Best of the Super Junior 31 - B Block Matches:
Ryusuke Taguchi comes to the ring and addresses the crowd. He has been out of action due to a bicycle injury.
5 - KUSHIDA vs. Dragon Dia
Dia hits a DDDDT on KUSHIDA and gets the pin.
Dragon Dia gets his first 2 points to a big pop from the crowd.
KUSHIDA has 8 points.
Dragon Dia had good matches in the tournament, despite only one win. He sells well and made his opponents look great.
6 - Ninja Mack vs. Drilla Moloney
Moloney looks tired as he comes to the ring. This has been a hard tournament.
Moloney cuts a promo saying he is tired, he is hurt and he lost to two fluke wrestlers and he was going back to the locker room. Ninja Mack chases him down and says that this is the BOSJ and he needs to wrestle. They fight back to the ring and the referee rings the bell. Mack goes for a Ninja Special to the floor. Moloney catches him and hits a wicked Drilla Killa on the floor.
Mack is counted out. Moloney wins.
Drilla Moloney finishes with 10 points.
Ninja Mack has 8 points.
The announcers put over how dangerous the Drilla Killa finisher is.
7 - DOUKI vs. Robbie Eagles
Good match. Crowd popped for both men, but DOUKI was a favorite. DOUKI hit a Daybreak. Eagles kicks out at two. DOUKI went for Suplex de La Luna but Eagles reverses into an Asai DDT. They exchange strikes and Eagles hits a Turbo Backpack. Two count. Eagles goes for a 450 splash, but DOUKI catches him in the Italian Stretch No. 32. They exchange reversals. Eagles goes for the Ron Miller Special. DOUKI reverses out and hits Suplex de La Luna.
DOUKI pins Eagles.
DOUKI has 12 points.
Robbie Eagles has 10 points.
In the main even, if Taiji Ishimori wins, DOUKI will place second in B Block.
If Hiromu Takahashi wins, Taiji Ishimori will place second in B Block.
8 - Hiromu Takahashi vs. Taiji Ishimori
Another good match. Ishimori attacks Hiromu's arm. Hiromu works on Ishimori's back. They trade strikes. Hiromu with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and Time Bomb 1.5. Two count. Hiromu with a Pumping Bomber. Hiromu goes for Time Bomb II but Ishimori fights out of it. Ishimori hits a gut buster on the top rope. Ishimori hits a 450 splash. Hiromu kicks out at two.
Hiromu counters out of La Mistica and wraps him up in the Hiromu Roll. Ishimori barely kicks out. They trade more strikes. Ishimori goes for a lariat but Hiromu traps him in "D". Ishimori rolls out of the submission but Hiromu picks him up for a Bloody Cross. Ishimori gets a foot on the ropes.
Hiromu hits a Time Bomb. Ishimori kicks out. Crowd cheering for both men. Hiromu sets up Ishimori for a reverse DDT but Ishimori reverses out and applies a Bone Lock. Ishimori hits a La Mistica and a Time Bomb II on Hiromu. Two count. Ishimori hits a Bloody Cross.
Ishimori pins Hiromu.
Taiji Ishimori finishes with 14 points, most points in the tournament, and wins the B Block.
Hiromu finishes with 12 points.
With Hiromu's loss, DOUKI has the tie breaker and takes second place in the B Block.
Taiji Ishimori addresses the crowd. One year ago, he injured his neck and was out for months. He is now back at the top of the Jr. Division.

On June 3, the semi-finals will be El Desperado vs. DOUKI and TJP vs. Taiji Ishimori.
None of these wrestlers have won BOSJ before, so this will be a special Final Four.
The winners of these matches will face each other in the main event of Dominion on June 9.
