GERMANY'S WXW EXITS THE WWE NETWORK

By Mike Johnson on 2024-05-30 22:18:00

Germany's WXW has officially exited the WWE Network as the promotion's deal with World Wrestling Entertainment expired today.  It was not a case of WWE terminating the agreement but the contract expiring.

WXW was the last vestige of independent wrestling on the Network.  At one point, WWE had planned to have a tiered Network with different subscription options that would have included indy and international events.  That plan was later dropped with several of the promotions, including PROGRESS and WXW instead being added via VOD to the Network and Peacock.

Going forward, WXW events will be streaming on YouTube and they would now be legally free and clear to lock in deals with other streaming providers for the first time in years.  The promotion returns to action next week with NJPW TV Champion Jeff Cobb in action.
