Former AEW Champion MJF officially returned to AEW for the first time since losing the title at Worlds End in December 2024 tonight at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 in Las Vegas, confronting Adam Cole.
During the We Don't Need No Stinkin' Name Show this past Wednesday morning for Elite subscribers, I noted that I had a gut feeling that perhaps MJF would return to AEW this weekend. MJF had made signing appearances in recent months sporting a sling on his arm, but we could never confirm he actually had surgery and it appeared to be a ruse to throw fans off.
PWInsider.com was told this morning by a Day One Elite subscriber that they were flying from JFK Airport in NYC yesterday to a family event this weekend in Arizona and that MJF was sitting first class on the flight to Phoenix. So, AEW (or MJF himself) went out of their way to hide his return. MJF was traveling with his girlfriend, former MLW personality Alicia Atout. Vegas is just a few hours from Phoenix driving.
While there had been a constant push over the idea that MJF's deal expired at the end of 2023, he had long been locked into a new contract, PWInsider.com was told.
