A number of readers from the Atlanta area passed along news reports from the last several days about the murder of Atlanta independent wrestler Reggie Folks, who performed as Reggie Rage. Folks was shot and killed while working as a Lyft Driver by a Police Officer, Koby Minor, who had been on an administrative leave since late 2023 after an unrelated incident.
Local news reports indicate that Folks, 35, had been transporting Officer Minor home after picking him up while working as a Lyft driver when he was shot. Minor was arrested by the Union City Police Department on 5/15 and submitted his resignation to the Atlanta Police Department the same day. Minor has been charged with murder and aggravated assault charges and is being held without bail.
Atlanta News First reported:
"According to the arrest warrants obtained by Atlanta News First, Minor believed his driver “is in a gay fraternity and was trying to recruit Minor into it and believed he was getting kidnapped by Folks." It goes on to say, “He heard what he thought was another voice in his ear talking to him, but did not say what the voice said.” Minor told police he thought Folks was speaking an “unknown language” and told him he wanted to get out of the car. When Folks reached the intersection of Stonewall Tell Road and South Fulton Parkway, Minor attempted to unlock the car. When he could not, he told police he shot Folks in the head."
Folks trained at AR Fox's World Wrestling Alliance 4 in Atlanta, which issued the following statement:
We are heart broken. Devastated. Reggie Rage, we all love you. You lit up The 4 EVERYTIME you came. Gonna miss you. Gonna miss watching you tryin all that crazy stuff when class was winding down. The one legged hop with the hype entrance. Damn. We love you Reggie. pic.twitter.com/iwJRkvZ7Vy

Fox told Atlanta News First that Folks was working as a Lyft Driver to raise money to continue his professional wrestling career. “A lot of little kids looked up to him,” Ballester said. “He was a role model. I just wish I would’ve told him I was proud of him more."
"We stand ready to assist law enforcement with any investigation and have permanently banned the rider’s account from the Lyft community," a Lyft spokesperson told Atlanta's Channel 11.
Folks' mother, Marchelle Folks, told Channel 11, she was, "very proud of the man he became. Everywhere I went, people met him and enjoyed him. He always ran into people that he knew," she said. "He was a friendly guy, very social. Reggie was pretty much the life of the party."
PWInsider.com sends our deepest condolences to Reggie Folks' family and friends.
