AEW COLLISION REPORT

It is Saturday and AEW Collision was recorded on Thursday at the Moda Center in Portland, OR. 

Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Will Ospreay vs Shane Taylor

Anthony Ogogo comes to the ring with Taylor. Then, Undisputed Kingdom come s out with Roderick Strong joins commentary with Matt Taven and Mike Bennett flanking him. 

Ospreay charges at Tayor and hits a drop kick and then leaps over the top[ onto Taylor on the floor. He rolls Taylor into the ring and hits a leaping forearm springboarding off the top rope into the ring for one. Ospreay runs the ropes and runs into a big clothesline from Taylor. They trade forearms and Taylor drops Ospreay. Ospreay rolls out of the ring and Taylor trash talks Taven before laying in a brutal chop on Ospreay. Ospreay runs Taylor’s head into the ring post and then shoves Taylor into the Undisputed Kingdom as we go to picture in picture. We also see that Strong’s glasses are broken. 

When we return to full screen, Taylor and Ospreay are throwing hands. Ospreay is whipped into the ropes and comes off with a handspring kick. He then gets a running boot in the corner, goes to the top and hits a leaping forearm to the back of Taylor’s head for two. Taylor cuts off his next charge with a knee and then gets a head butt, a uri nage and a splash for two. 

Taylor picks Ospreay up and Ospreay tries for a hurricanrana, but Taylor stops him and power bombs him. He follows with a lariat for two. Ospreay gets a Spanish Fly for two and Strong takes his mic off saying he can’t do this any more.  Ospreay tries for an Oz Cutter, but Taylor catches and slams him for two. Ospreay goes to the top and Taylor gets an uppercut. Ospreay traps Taylor on top and hits a series of thrust kicks. He then hits the storm driver on Taylor front he top for the pin and their win.

Winner: Will Ospreay. 

Strong gets on the apron, and when Ospreay is dealing with him, Taven and Bennett try to attack from behind. They get in a few blows and whip him into the ropes.  He dodges their charge at him, Ospreay pulls down the top rope and then hits a dive onto both of them. 

We get a video package from “Team AEW” showing that Darby Allin has joins FTR and Bryan Danielson and talking about how they are flattered The Elite put a price on their heads. The Righteous say they are happy to earn that price in the main event tonight.

We then get a promo from Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli in the back. He says while the Don Callis family does what they do for money and fame, but the Blackpool Combat Club does what they do because they are lions. Claudio says he is sick of talking to a camera and he wants to go out and prove how great they are. He says the people talking about how great they are are all fake. They don’t live it. They just say it. 

We get a recap of their Hook/Jericho confrontation and we get a promo from Jericho. He says he can’t be mad about how Hook made him bleed his own blood because it means he’s ready to be a champion again, and he is teaching Hook to be a better person and a better wrestler.

Hook vs Johnny TV w/Taya Valkyrie in a qualifying match for the three way match for a match with Jericho for the FTW title at Double or Nothing

They lock up and Hook gets a side headlock. He turns it into a hip toss. TV gets a forearm and then Hook gets another hip toss and grabs an arm bar. TV shoves him off and gets a sliding knee for a two count.  TV mounts and gets a series of strikes and a cravat. Hook powers to his feet and gets a suplex to free himself. Hook then gets a lariat, a big knee to the midsection and a judo throw. Hook gets another suplex. 

TV gets a jawbreaker, and Hook is able to fire back with blows.  Taya gets on the apron and Hook has to stop running the ropes to keep from hitting her.  TV gets a leaping kick from the second rope as Hook is distracted. TV misses Starship Pain. Hook slaps on the redrum and TV has to tap out.

Winner and going on:  Hook

Katsuyori Shibata vs Rocky Romero in a qualifying match

Shibata fist bumps Hook as they pass each other on the way to the ring.

They lock up with a greco roman knuckle lock and they quickly move to mat works with Shibata getting a wrist lock and taking Romero down. Shibata holds on as Romero tries to get away from the ropes and then takes Romero down. Shibata is able to grab a figure four and Romero is quickly able to get to the ropes. After Shibata comes off the ropes, Romero gets an octopus hold and Shibata is able to power out of it. Shibata is able to get another figure four in the middle of the ring and Romero is able to move them to the ropes for a break

Shibata gets a series of elbows in the corner, but then runs into a big boot from Romero. Romero gets an uppercut into a DDT from the second rope as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Romero is kicking Shibata’s arm repeatedly and Shibata walks into it and drops Romero. He picks Romero up and lays in chops. Romero holds down the top and Shibata lands on the apron and grabs a sleeper. Romero breaks free by grabbing the left arm and snaps it across the top ropes. Romero gets an insigiri and covers for two. 

Romero tries for a spinning DDR and Shibata blocks it and kicks Romero’s leg out from under him. Shibata gets a knee bar, and Romero gets to the ropes for a break. Shibata gets a series of strikes and then a drop kick on Romero in the corner. Shibata gets a snap suplex for two. Rocky is able to get a quick series of two counts. Shibata is able to get a back breaker and a running kick before locking on the figure four. Romero has to tap out.

Winner and moving on: Shibata

Shibata shakes Romero’s hand before leaving the ring. 

When Bryan Keith comes out, he tips his hat to Shibata.

Bryan Keith vs Boulder w/Jacked Jameson and Bronson in a qualifying match

Jameson mocks the crowd on his way to the ring. 

Bounder charges into Keith in the corner before the bell and then beats him down. Keith gets a blow in before coming off the ropes until a big boot from Boulder. Boulder gets a big power slam for two. Jameson distracts the ref as Keith is double teamed. His head is slammed into Boulder for “titty city” and Keith bites him. Keith gets a leaping uppercut followed by an over the top stunner for the pin and the win.

Winner and moving on: Bryan Keith

The Iron Savages have a great gimmick and look. I have no idea why they get jobbed out every time they show on Collision or Dynamite. 

In the back, Pac is asked if he wants to respond to Bullet Club Gold by Lexi Nair. Pac says he couldn’t care less. He says they are funny, and normally they would ruffle his feathers. Not today. He couldn’t care less. He hasn’t felt a thing in weeks. He then tells Bullet Club to make him feel anything or care at all. 

We then get a recap of the contract signing between Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone. 

Bullet Club Gold does its entrance and we see they have a knocked out Pac at their feet.  Jay White says “I bet you care now.“ 

In the back, Christian Cage’s group is there, and Nick Wayne says he is ready for his match tonight. He also says when Swerve Strickland attacked him at his gym, he was a boy, but Cage has made him a man. 

Orange Cassidy vs Isiah Kassidy 

Orange picks the leg and they quickly move to running the ropes with each leaping over the other. Isiah gets an arm drag, but his second is blocked, and Orange gets a back slide for two. They then trade a series of quick tow counts. Orange gets a bow and arrow and Isiah turns it into a two count. Orange misses an Orange punch and Isiah rolls out of the ring. Orange takes it as an opportunity to hit a dive.

They brawl outside the ring as Don Callis watches on a screen backstage. As Orange johns Isiah into the barricade, Trent Beretta comes down to a seat at ringside. Isiah takes over the brawl as Orange was distracted. They return to the ring and Isiah gets a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Isiah then whips Orange into the corner, over the top and to the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Orange gets a back body drop off the steel steps as Isiah was trying to pile drive him. Isiah returns to the ring and is selling his back. Isiah gets into the ring at 8. Orange and Isiah throw hands in the middle of the ring and Orange starts to get the better of the exchange, but Isiah shoves him into the corner. Isiah tries for a brain buster and Orange turns it into a slumdog millionaire and a spinning DDT. 

Orange kips up and sets for the Orange Punch. Isiah dodges it. Orange tries for a beach break, but his back gives way and Isiah tries to beat him down with blows to his back. Orange tries again and Isiah turns it into a roll up for two. Isiah then gets a leaping spin kick. Orange dodges a charge and they fight in the corner. Isiah gets a cutter on the top rope. 

They trade kicks on the apron and they both collapse. Orange goes to where Trent is and the ref tells them to stay away from each other. Isiah attacks Orange from behind. They return to the ring and the referee is used by Isiah for the silly string attack. Isiah goes to the top and hits a swanton on Orange’s back for two. Isiah pulls Orange up and Orange hits a beach break out of nowhere for the pin and the win, much to Trent’s dismay.

Winner: Orange Cassidy

Lexi Nair asks Trent if things are over between him and Orange. Trent says he is clearly a better wrestler than Orange and the only reason Orange was was because he cheated. He then challenges Orange to a wrestling match at Double or Nothing.

Orange attacks him and security pulls them apart. 

Serena Deeb vs Anna Jay 

Deen gives a “Deeb’s Dojo” flag to a fan at ringside.

Deeb starts with a kick and a series of blows, followed by a swinging neckbreaker for two. She then puts Jay in the worst move ever, the serenity lock. Deeb then kicks Jay out of the hold. Jay fires a series of forearms, gets a snap mare and hits a suplex. Jay whips Deeb into the corner, and Deeb fights her way free and gets a neckbreaker in the ropes as we go to picture in picture. 

Deeb has an abdominal stretch on Jay. Jay frees herself with a hip toss. Deeb goes to attack, but Jay gets a small package for two. Jay gets a series of running elbows and then whips Deeb into the corner and runs into her. Jay gets a flatliner for two. They run the ropes and Deeb gets a flying clothesline. Deeb is able to get a dragon screw in the ropes in the corner. Deeb gets a German suplex and hammerlock clothesline for two.  

Jay gets a mule pick, but Deeb clumps her from behind while running the ropes. Jay grabs a surprise queenslayer and Debb rolls back for a two count. Deeb gets a double underhook faceplant and then grabs a single leg crab as Jay has to tap out.

Winner: Serena Deeb.

Luther steals Deeb’s flag and Toni Storm comes to the stage and strips behind it as Luther and Mariah May hold it up and then wrap her in it. Nigel calls her Bettie Page, which popped me.

We get a video package about the feud between Christian Cage and Swerve Strickland.

Nick Wayne vs the already in the ring Jack Cartwheel  

Wayne knocks Jack into the corner and stomps him down. Jack uses his cartwheel to dodge an attack from Nick Wayne. Jack gets a tejaris and Wayne goes to the floor. He goes for a flip over the top and Wayne dodges it. Jack is rolled into the ring, and Nick gets a series of strikes. He stands on Jack and then stomps on his head. Wayne pulls him up, hits Wayne’s World and pulls Jack up. Nick says he is waiting for Swerve and then nails Swerve’s House Call move for the pin and the win. 

Winner: Nick Wayne. 

It’s time for our main event

Bryan Danielson and FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs Lance Archer and the Righteous (Vincent and Dutch)

Vincent and Dax start with collar and elbow, they go immediately to the corner and fight there. Vincent runs Dax’s eyes on the top rope and then grabs Dax’s mouth in the corner. Dax whips Vencent to the corner, gets a big chop, a snap suplex, followed by a leg drop and a two count. Cash is tagged in and then hits a double team slam for two. 

Cash gets a side headlock takeover and then they run the ropes with Vincent getting a clothesline. Dutch is tagged in and they beat down Cash in the corner. Dutch slams Cash. Cash is whipped into the corner and then dodges a series of attacks from Dutch before peppering him with blows. Cash hits a drop kick and tags in Dax. 

They hit a double Russian Leg Sweep for two. Dax is whipped to the corner, gets the boot up for a charging Dutch and then hits a bulldog. Archer gets in the ring and the tag team siren goes off and all six men are fighting in the ring as we go to picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Dax has been the babyface in peril. Dax is able to dodge the elbow drop from Dutch and Bryan tags in. Bryan runs wild on Dutch. Bryan hits a shotgun drop kick from the top and this brings in Vencent, who gets attacked by Cash. Bryan is able to get Dutch down and locks on the Labell lock, but Archer breaks it up. He then takes out Cash and Dax. Vincent and Archer stomp down Bryan and Vincent gets a spinning DDT for two. Archer tosses Cash again and Vincent goes to the top. Bryan is able to knock Vincent's feet out from under him, and then hits suplex and Cash hits the splash for two. 

Archer gets in the ring and it’s time for each person to take out the person who came in before them. 

FTR gets the Shatter Machine on Vincent for the pin and the win.

Winners: Bryan Danielson and FTR

After the Match Vincent, Dutch and Archer start a beat down on the winners.  Archer gets a block out slam on Cash on a chair in the middle of the ring. They  put a chair on Dax, and Vincent hits a swanton onto Dax. Daniel Garcia rushes the ring with a chair to run the heels off.
