It is Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is coming to us from Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB. Our commentary team is Excalibur and Tony Schiavone.
We start with Adam Copeland who says his match with Brody King will be no DQ.
We start off with Orange Cassidy vs Trent Beretta
Why isn’t this a PPV match since this is a feud they have been building for quite a long time? They do start by just brawling and fighting around the ring rather than wrestling. They tell us that Chuck Taylor’s injuries may be career ending, blaming it on Trent’s attack after the parking lot brawl a couple of weeks ago.
They brawl into the crowd and then fight up the stairs and into the actual stands. During this, Cassidy takes a pile driver on the stairs, which he should have sold a LOT longer than he actually did.
They fight back to the ring and Don Callis, who has been talking to Orange Cassidy lately, joins commentary where he puts over Cassidy. Trent gives a pair of pile drivers to Cassidy then mocks him rather than pinning him. Both Cassidy and Trent pull the turnbuckle pad off a top turnbuckle. The ref sees Trent do it, so Cassidy does it when the Ref is admonishing Trent. Trent is run into the bare buckle and gets a quick rollup for the pin and the win.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
Trent attacks Cassidy after the match and as they fight, Callis comes to Cassidy’s aid and Kris Statlander gets between them and tries to talk Trent down. Callis helps Cassidy to the back.
We then get a pre-tape of The Elite showing up and as they look for a packing place they talk about what a dump the arena is. They then park in Tony Khan’s parking place, and he can’t attend due to his injuries. We then get a video recap of the attack on Kenny Omega last week.
We then get a video from Kenny Omega from the ER after last week’s attack. He says that since their attack was just business, and since he’s an EVP as well and he has set an Anarchy in the Arena match, and it’ll be FTR, and he’ll have two other people to take them on. And they will be revealed later tonight.
Tony Schiavone brings out Serena Deeb and he asks her about her title match at Double or Nothing. She talks about her return to the ring and the recovery she went through. Toni Storm shows and says that Deeb sounds like a charity case and throws money at her. Deeb says she fought to come back and she will win the title. They go face to face and the crowd chants for Toni. Toni tries for a cheap shot and Deeb lays her out with a single punch.
In the back, Lexi Nair is with Orange Cassidy and Rocky Romero shows up to check on him. Rocky says if he wins tonight, he can put together a team with Cassidy for the trios championship.
Mariah May vs Harley Cameron w/Saraya
Harley starts by running through May, and takes control and what seems to me like an early match after lots of time being a supporting character. When May fires up, her stuff looks really good and the crowd is clearly on her side. May gets a clear victory and even gets to deck Saraya before winning the match with May Day.
Winner: Mariah May
Saraya attacks May after the match, but her former tag team partner Mina Shirakawa comes out for the save again and a champagne toast with an almost kiss.
In the back Arkady Aura is with Pac and she asks him if Death Triangle is getting back together, and he is interrupted by Bullet Club Gold and Jay White says that since Pac lost to Okada, maybe he should go for Okada’s title to add to his collection. After he leaves, Pac gives an under his breath threat.
We then get a promo from Malakai Black about how Adam Copeland is falling apart as he sees his mortality. It's done in a very spooky, storytelling way. He says he is breaking down Adam so that he can be who he used to be and live again.
In the back at the producer’s position, the Young Bucks play a promo video for themselves.
Swerve Strickland comes to the ring. He lets us know he’s in a foul mood and shows the beat down he took from Christian Cage last week. He demands that Cage come to the ring right now.
And he Obliges Swerve. He and the rest of the Patriarchy come to the stage. He says he will take something from Swerve every week until he finally takes his title at Double or Nothing. They start to surround the ring, but the Mogul Embassy enters the ring. Swerve then says get into the ring now that it’s even.
He then mocks Cage for quitting in his match with Adam Copeland.
Then the Mogul Embassy attacks Swerve and beats him down. Referees run to the ring and are tossed from the ring as the beat down continues. They then put him through the announcer’s table and leave him laying.
I guess we know why Prince Nana was nowhere to be seen.
In the back, the Bucks applaud and Cage says it is the start of a fruitful relationship.
Arkady is in the back with Willow Nightingale and Willow says she feels beat up but you can never beat the smile off her face. Willow says she is ready to face Mecedes Mone at Double or Nothing. Willow then asks if Mone is ready.
Jay White w/The Gunns vs Rocky Romero
Rocky takes control early, and White is trying to escape his attacks, but Rocky is able to keep up with him until White gets a massive clothesline before they go to picture in picture. White takes over on the small screen. Rocky gets the advantage when they come back to full screen.
This is a well worked match, both guys are incredibly skilled, but in the end, White wins with the Blade Runner.
Winner: Jay White
Seemed a bit weird to have a stipulation on the line for a match where we haven’t seen Rocky win any matches.
The Gunns attack Rocky after the match and Pac comes to the ring, and Bullet Club leaves the ring.
We then get a video package for Samoa Joe to remind us he is a badass.
Chris Jericho and Big Bill vs the Already in the ring Mo Jabari and Harlon Abbott
Well. That was fast.
Winners: Chris Jericho and Big Bill
Jericho has to tag in to get the pin to further the story, I guess. Jericho says he’s happy to be a Calgary, instead of Edmonton, which gets him booed. He then cuts a promo and makes fun of the fans who judge things by Cagematch. He then says that Hook is taking time to learn the lessons he taught him.
Tony Schiavone gets in the ring to let Jericho know that Hook will be back next week, and Jericho says they will all celebrate his return next week.
Adam Copeland (TNT Champion) vs Brody King in a No DQ match
For a no DQ match they start with side headlocks. Adam tries to lift King and can’t do it, so they will be coming back to that at some point of the match. As we come back from the first commercial break, we’ve moved to having chairs in the ring and brawling around the ring. Adam keeps trying to pick King up, and King is still able to block it.
Adam breaks off the crossbar of a chair and he’ll be using it later. King is busted open and he’s showing a lot as they keep fighting with chairs and big moves through the middle of this match. During the second picture in picture, we start to see tables being set up by Adam.
As we come back to full screen, they are both teasing being put through the table at ringside. They give each other a big boot at the same time and both men go down. They move to a series of big moves and near falls. King is able to catch Adam when he tries for a spear and is able to turn it into a pile driver. This moves the fight to the apron. Adam is finally able to pick up King and get a Death Valley Driver on the apron.
Adam then spears King off the apron into the table. Both men struggle to get into the ring. Adam hits another spear for the pin and the win.
Winner and still TNT Champion: Adam Copeland
King attacks Adam after the bell and Kyle O’Reilly shows up and goes after King. They are able to team up to clothesline King out of the ring.
We then get Arkady with Mone in the back and Mone puts herself over and says she is ready for Willow at Double of Nothing. She says that Willow took a year of her career, but she is back with a vengeance because she is that bitch.
Wait, isn’t Britt Baker that bitch?
Lexi is with Adam and Kyle, and Adam says it’s a relief to have an ally in his battle with House of Black. Kyle asks for a match on Saturday in the Cope Open. Adam agrees.
The Young Bucks come to the ring with Okada and Jack Perry. Okada tells Kenny Omega to get well soon. Matt Jackson says he wishes Tony Khan knew they were here to make AEW a better place, but he got in their way. He then says that Kenny ended their friendship so they had to attack him as well. Nick says FTR saved Kenny because they hate the Bucks. He accepts the Anarchy in the Arena match.
FTR’s music hits and they come to the stage. Cash says they have found a couple of guys to join them. Eddie Kingston’s music hits and he comes out. We then hear Bryan Danielson’s music and he joins FTR as well.
They charge to the ring and go face to face with The Elite. Hands are thrown and we’re out of time!
