FULL DYNAMITE REPORT

By Anthony Pires on 2024-04-10 21:06:00

Disclaimer: This is the last thing I’m writing on this report. I apologize in advance as this is not my best work.  The Young Bucks “expose’” absolutely ruined the entire night for me.  My desire to write an unbiased report (heck, my desire to write) went out the window.

Welcome one and all to what will probably be THE most talked about episode of AEW Dynamite EVER.  Tony Schiavone, Taz and Excalibur have the call of the…action?….videotape? I honestly have no idea what to expect.

AEW World Title Eliminator: Samoa Joe vs. Dustin Rhodes

Swerve Strickland attacks Joe on the ramp. They slug it out. There’s a table nearby. Swerve spears Joe through it. Doctors and attendants check on Joe.  Joe gets helped to the back.

Result: No contest (I think)

We see video of what Trent did last week to Orange Cassidy. Renee Paquette tells us that he’ll address this Friday on Rampage.

TNT Championship: Adam Copeland vs. Penta El Zero Miedo w/Alex Abrantes

Slow build up to a Penta shove. Copeland shoves him back. Spear by Penta for 2. Double stomp by Penta for 2. Thrust kick and a clothesline by Penta. Penta poses to the crowd. Leg kicks by Penta. Chop by Penta. Copelns to the apron as we go to commercial.

We are back and Penta with a roundhouse kick. Copeland counters with a flying head scissors. Escape by Penta and he nails a kick for 2. Side headlock by Penta.  Leapfrogs by Copelanf and they exchange flying head scissors.  THey trade chops.

There is a countdown clock to the Young Bucks showing backstage footage.

Both men are down on the floor, both make it back in in time. Kick to the head by Penta as we go back to commercial.

We are back and it’s Penta with a backstabber for 2. Facebuster by Copeland. Modified sharpshooter by Copeland. Penta makes the rope. Stalling dropkick by Penta for 2. Crossface by Copeland, Penta makes the rope. Boot to the face off of an attempted missile dropkick. Thrust kick by Penta. Powerslam on the apron by Copeland. Copeland accidentally spears Alex. Action comes back to the ring. Code Red off the top by Penta for 2. Copeland with a spear for the pin.

WINNER AND STILL TNT CHAMPION ADAM COPELAND

Lights out. Brodie King attacks Copeland after a Julia Hart distraction. Willow Nightinghale makes the save

Renee is with Hook, Chris Jericho and Katsayori Shibata. Jericho gives them instructions ahead of their six man tags against Shane Taylor Promotions.

We see highlights of previous Young Bucks vs. FTR matches

Copeland interrupts Mark Briscoe and Eddie Kingston talking with Renee. He wants revenge and wants to make sure Briscoe and Kingston are ready

OK let’s get this over with. What ya got Young Bucks? They are backstage and give us context. Biggest show in company history at All In last year. They talk up Jack Perry as a great guy. They blame whatever happened at All In on the loss to FTR.  They are really stalling this.

We see soundless video from backstage…really? What a complete waste of time.  It’s shows pretty much a 3 second skirmish.  THIS is why Tony Khan was afraid for his life? FTR comes out and they are sick and tired of talking about this.  Dax takes the time to run down WWE creative from 5 years ago.  Another ra-ra speech about AEW.

Rant time: THIS is what we were teased with? This was supposed to be the moment that AEW proved what a murderous clown CM Punk is.  This was a complete and total waste of my time, the audiences time, the paying customers at the arena’s time and money. Wow! I can’t believe THIS is what we were teased with.  This was the big ratings ploy that was going to prove the company’s moral superiority?  This whole segment was awful. “Leadership” is non existent.

Renee brings out Will Ospreay. He says Tony Kahn told him to make it quick because TV time is expensive….I just can’t.  Ospreay claps back on Paul Levesque, a man he will never wrestle. A man he will never have an angle with.

How much money has AEW wasted on TV time tonight alone?

Cory Strode and I will be discussing the most beautiful red head in hollywood. I say Julianne Moore

AEW failed to sell a single future ticket with this.

We see a vignette on Julia Hart. She has come off as AEW’s biggest star tonight.

Hook, Chris Jericho & Katsayori Shibata vs. Anthony Ogogo, Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty

Six man tag team action, Jericho chops Ogogo and nails a rana off the top. Shibata tags in, as does Taylor. Nothing happens. Hook tags in. He and Tayor jab away. Lariat by Taylor. We go to commercial.

We’re back.  Taylor goes to kick Hook but gets German suplexed instead. Shibata and Moriarty are legal now. Chops by Shibata. Dropkick by Shibata.

Jericho argues with Hook. Shibata with a choke to Moriarty. Taylor punches Shibata and Moriarty scores the pin.

WINNERS SHANE TAYLOR PROMOTIONS

Hook and Jericho continue to argue.

Renee is back with Dustin Rhodes. The match with Joe will take place later. Joe is cleared.

Kazuchika Okada vs. Christiano Argenta

I’ve already written the result. Lockup, forearm by Argenta. Elbow strike by Okada. Okada with a neckbreaker. Argenta fires back. Dropkick by Okada. Rainmaker and a pin by Okada.

WINNER KAZUCHIKA OKADA

Okada wants the mic. He accepts Pac’s challenge for Dynasty. Here comes Pac. The Jacksons come out and attack Pac. They triple team Pac and celebrate. FTR makes the save for Pac. The crowd is chanting for CM Punk. Okada brings a chair in and The Elite take over. Superkick PArty on FTR. Bucks with the EVP Trigger on FTR. Okada with a chair shot to Pac’s head. I think Pac was able to get his head jerked away to avoid a direct hit.

We hear from the Bang Bang Gang. They recap their recent success.

Renee Paquette brings out Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm Luther. No Mariah May as of yet. Storm immediately punches Rosa. Knee strike by Storm and she wipes Rosa’s makeup off. Deonna Purrazzo comes out to help but Rosa shoves her away. The censors are a little late with Deonna’s swearing.

Mariah May vs. Anna Jay

Lockup, neither can get the advantage. Chop exchange.

I will say this: These two look like mega stars.

Forearm strike by Jay. May with a chop with both hands. Rana by May. Jay with a strike. May with a hangman on the middle rope. Forearm by May as we go to commercial.

We are back and a slam off the corner for 2 by Jay. Back elbows by May. Roundhouse kick by May. Hip attack by May for 2. Jay with a Sister Abigail for 2. Rollup by May for the pin.

WINNER MARIAH MAY

Jay with a Queenslayer. May is going to sleep. Mina Shirakawa comes out to make the save for May.  For those who don’t know, she was on the ROH PPV last weekend in a Stardom Spotlight match.  May and Mina share champagne and kiss.

Alex Marvez is on a pre tape with Mercedes Mone’. She has a TBS Title shot at Double or Nothing because rankings matter. Mone’ talks about her injury against Willow last year and how she wants revenge for losing her shot at the NJPW Strong Ttile.

Lights go out.  Mone’ is laid out. We do not see the assailant.

AEW World Title Eliminator: Samoa Joe vs. Dustin Rhodes

Joe is limping a bit. Dustin goes on the attack. Joe turns the tables.  Now they’re throwing left and rights. Action spills to the floor Dustin throws Joe back in. Joe catches him with jabs but Dustin will not be denied. Action goes back outside and Joe sends Dustin into the post. Dustin is busted wide open.

Dustin with a big powerslam. They trade right hands. Jabs by Dustin into a bionic elbow. Code Red for 2 by Dustin. Dustin to the floor, Joe follows. Joe gets sent into the post. Dustin brings in the title belt. Dustin drops it and kicks Joe. Cross Rhodes by Dustin for 2.  Punch by Dustin. Uranage by Joe. Joe grabs the chain. The ref takes it away.As he puts it out, Joe nails Dustin with the title belt and scores the pin.

WINNER SAMOA JOE

Joe with a sleeper. Swerve makes the save and grabs his chain back. Swerve punches Joe with it. Joe bails. Security comes out to separate them.
