4/4 DDT PRO WRESTLING IN PHILADELPHIA REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2024-04-05 00:49:00

The DDT show is from the GCW Collective at The Auditorium at Penns Landing Caterers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

There was an issue with the feed and we started part way through the first match:

CCK (Chris Brookes & Kid Lykos) vs. Bryan Keith & Shota

Brookes accidentally kicks Lykos and Keith hits a scoop slam with Shota hitting a frog splash. Brookes tosses Keith after breaking up the pin and it’s dive time. Lykos is rolled in the ring and Shot goes to the top and goes for a frog splash, but Lykos gets the knees up and they hit Shota with a praying Mantis bomb and a brain buster for the pin and the win.

Winners: CCK

Tetsuya Endo vs. Andrew “The Giant” Everett

Everett bills himself as seven foot four, but he’s junior heavyweight size.

They lock up and Endo forces them to the ropes. Everett gets a side headlock and they then run the ropes. Endo gets a head scissor takedown and follows with a drop kick. Endo gets a body slam and then misses an elbow drop. Everett tries a flip but gets a big boot from Endo.  Everett gets a shotgun drop kick and then a moonsault onto Endo on the floor.  They return to the ring and Everett gets a heel kick for two.

Everett calls for a chokeslam and Endo fights but Everett gets a handful of hair to pull Endo down to the mat. Endo is up and Evcerett keeps trying for a chokeslam and Endo fights free. Everett does eventually get it for a two count. Everett goes to the top and goes for a 630, but Endo avoids it. Endo is able to dive onto Everett on the floor.

They return to the ring and Endo covers for two. Endo tries for a short arm clothesline, but Everett gets another chokeslam for two. Everett goes to the top and Endo meets him there. Everett gets a headbutt to knock Endo down. Everett misses a shooting star press from the top. End gets a handspring insigiri and hits a torture rack bomb for two. Endo goes to the top and Everett meets him there and pulls him down. Everett gets a poisonrana and pulls down the straps.

Endo counters a chokeslam with a destroyer. Endo goes to the top and Everett is up and hits an insigiri. They fight on the top and Endo drops into the ring. Everett tries to pull him up but Endo gets a Pele kick. Endo goes to the top and puts Everett in the rack for a rack bomb from the top. Endo goes to the top for a burning star press, the pin and the win.

Winner: Tetsuya Endo

Dan the Dad interrupts the merch promo. He says he has been trying to get on the shows going on with the Collective all week. He says he wants to see if the biggest star in all of Japan wants to fight him. Chiitan (a mascot of a cute girl cat) comes to the ring.

Dan the Dad vs Chiitan

This is pretty much pure goofiness. Dan eventually brings in chairs and a door and nails Chiiton with the door, and then sets up the door between the chairs. He measures it with a tape measure. Chiitan is put on the door and Chiitan catches him on the top and hits a superplex on Dan through the door for the pin and the win.

Winner: Chiiton

Chris Brookes then attacks Chiiton after the matchy, and he joins with Dan for the post match beat down. They are stopped by Yoshihiko. That's right, Yoshihiko is a blow up doll.

Kazuki Hirata vs Yoshihiko

If you have seen matches with Yoshihiko, you know the silliness that ensues. Hirata wrestles the blow up doll and you either like this sort of thing or you don’t.  Yoshihiko wins via a tornado hurricanrana called a Reincarnation for the pin and the win.

Winner: Yoshihiko

MAO (DDT Universal Championship) vs. Billie Starkz

Starkz asks for a handshake and MAO flips her off instead.  So emo of him.

She boots Mao in the midsection and gets a sunset flip for two. Mao flips her the double bird and she twists his fingers. She shoves his hands in his pockets and he then kicks her and runs the ropes with hands in his pockets. Starkz throws forearms and he drops her with a single shot. Mao puts her on the apron, drapes her on the middle rope and then drops her. Starkz is whipped to the corner, but she gets an elbow and then a knee strike followed by a German suplex.

Mao gets a big boot and they throw forearms at each other.  Mao shoves the ref in the way and then leaps over him for a cutter. They both roll to the floor and grab chairs. They swing chairs at each other and Starkz nails him across the back when Mao drops his chair. He tosses a chair at Starkz and kicks the chair. Mao gets a Michinoku driver on the chair for two.

Mao builds a pile of chairs and takes Starkz to the top. She escapes and hits a Death Valley Driver from the top onto the chairs.  Starkz piles chairs on Mai. Mao sits up when she gets to the top and he throws a chair at her. Mao hits the Michinoku Driver on the chairs for two. Mao pulls out a broken door and props it up in the corner.

Mao lawn darts Starkz into the door head first and covers for one. Mao builds a door bridge between the chairs and then drops Starkz with a right hand. He drapes her on the door and goes to the top. Mao hits a 450, but Styyarkz rolls off the door before he hits and then covers Mao for two. Mao hits a German suplex bridge and it looks like both wrestlers shoulders are down as the ref counts three.

The ref explains what happened to the wrestlers. It is a double pin and the match will be decided by rock, paper, scissors. They both choose paper. They both choose rock. Mao chooses scissors and Starkz chooses paper.

Winner and still DDT Universal Champion: Mao

Nick Wayne and Takeshi Masada vs Daisuke Sasaki and Kanon

Everyone is fighting as the bell rings. Wayne and Masada are able to throw Sasaki and Kanon out of the ring, so they follow them to brawl on the floor. Masada and Sasaki roll into the ring. Kanon tags in quickly and they work over Masada with quick tags. Masada is able to get a drop kick after being whipped into the ropes and gets the tag to Wayne, who cleans house.

Wayne hits a moonsault from the ropes into the ring and after hitting Sasaaki and Kanon, sits in a front row chair. Sasaki is able to get out of a full nelson and gets a back breaker. Sasaki grabs a crossface and that sets off the Tag Team Siren and all four men are in the ring. Wayne then tags in Masada as Kanon is tagged in and Masada gets a brain buster for two.

All four men hit moves in the ring until Wayne and Sasaki go to the floor. Sasaki gets back in the ring and double teams Masada. Kanon gets an elbow off the top for the pin and the win.

Winners:  Daisuke Sasaki and Kanon

A Fast paced spot fest that was well planned out so that it moved smoothly to a quick finish.

KONOSUKE TAKESHITA  vs. Shunma Katsumata

Katasamura attacks Takeshita as he comes through the curtain. When they get to ehr ring, Katsumura goes right at Takeshita with superkicks and keeps kicking him until he goes down. They go to the floor and brawl around the ring as Takeshita recovers. Katsumata rolls Takeshita into the ring. He then goes to the top and then leaps directly onto Takeshita and gives him a kick after they land.

Katsumata goes for a springboard dropkick, and Takeshita swats it away and goes to work. They roll to the floor and start brawling on the floor again. Takeshita knocks Katsumura to the floor and waits for him to get in the ring. He then whips Katsumata to the corner and Konosuke gets a running boot and just starts beating down Katsumata.  He hits a brain buster for a two count.

Takeshita gets a rear choke and Katsumata fights his way free. He then hits a double face stomp and a second one on Takeshita’s back. Latsumata tries more forearms, but Takeshita ignores them and nails him with an elbow. They trade forearms with Takeshita getting the upper hand. They turn to slaps. Takeshita hits a LOUD forearm, dropping Katsumata.

Katsumata gets a suplex and covers for two. Katsumata tries to take Takeshita down with clotheslines and finally takes down Takeshita with the third one. Takeshita recovers and hits a running elbow for two. He gets a psycho knee for two. He then locks on a Boston Crab and Katsumata has to tap out.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita.

A tough, hard hitting brawl and they set it as a grudge match since Takeshita had betrayed Katsumata in the past.

It’s time for the main event.

Yuki Ueno vs. Mike Bailey

This is the second Mike Bailey match I have covered this weekend.

They shake hands to start.

Bailey gets a quick kick and a brain buster for two right off the bat. Bailey and Ueno trade forearms. They run the ropes and trade kicks and shoulder tackles. Bailey takes a kick to the face and rolls to the floor; Ueno tries to dive and Bailey kicks him on the way down. Bailey starts kicking away on Ueno. They start to brawl around the ring.

Bailye misses a kick and instead hits the ring post. Ueno hits a Russian leg sweep into the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring. Ueno takes Bailey down and then pauses to recover. Ueno is up first and rolls Bailey into the ring. Bailey kicks Ueno off the apron and hits a moonsault from the ring onto Ueno. Bailey rolls Ueno into the ring and drops Ueno on the top rope and then kicks away on him. Bailey then hits a double foot stomp from the top turnbuckle.

Bailey puts a knee on Ueno’s face for a two count. Bailey pulls Ueno up and then kicks him down again. Bailey hits a double keen drop onto Ueno’s chest. Bailey works Ueno over on the mat. He pulls him up for a series of forearms. Bailey takes too long to follow up and Ueno gets a suplex. Both men go to opposite corners. Ueno gets a splash in the corner and then hits a tejaris and Bailey goes to the floor. Ueno hits a corkscrew dive onto Bailey. He rolls Bailey into the ring and keeps up the attacks.

Bailey is able to recover with kicks and hits a shooting star press for two. Ueno catches a kick and Bailey frees himself with forearms. Bailey kicks Ueno down, and he pops back up. Ueno gets a German suplex and Bailey nails Ueno with a kick. They go back and forth with these, which is insane.

They trade blows back and forth in the middle of the ring. Ueno gets a half and half suplex for two. Ueno keeps the waislock and they go to the apron. Ueno gets a half and half on the apron and they go to the floor with Ueno holding the waistlock. They get back on the apron. Bailey finally fights free and hits a moonsault double knee on the apron.  Bailey rolls Ueno into the ring and goes to the top. Ueno joins him and they struggle on the top.

Ueno finally gets a hurricanrana from the top and then hits a frog splash for two. Both men are up and Bailey gets a kick followed by a double moonsault. He follows with a kick and a two count. Bailey gets more kicks and then hits the Ultimo weapon from the second turnbuckle for two. Bailey puts Ueno on top and Ueno escapes and hits a poisonrana on Bailey. He then hits a running drop kick for two, with Bailey grabbing the rope.

Bailey is able to  get a sSpanish Fly for two. Bailey takes out his mouthpiece and gets a supekick. Ueno gets a flying kick for one. Ueno gets a standing drop kick and follows with a standing Spanish Fly for the pin and the win.

Winner:  Yuki Ueno

This was a fantastic main event. Both men went all out and mixed from brawls to high flying to mat wrestling.  I loved this match and Ueno impressed me as well as Bailey.
