MEGAN BAYNE VS. GABBY FORZA & MORE: 3/28 WRESTLING OPEN LIVE REPORT FROM WORCESTER, MA

By Adam Cardoza on 2024-03-30 08:45:00

Wrestling Open Week 117 - 3/28/24

Spotlight Match: TJ Crawford vs The Handyman Jake Gray

Worcester is very much on the side of our local Beyond Institute of Pro Wrestling Graduates. TJ doesn’t care. Gray acquits himself well but TJ hits a GTS variant to the back of the head for the win.

Winner: TJ Crawford

Match 1: RJ Rude (w/ Rex Lawless) vs Sean Legacy

RJ is SINGING his own entrance. It’s How You Remind Me by Nickleback. F*** me. They are reallllllly leaning into this new heel persona. I don’t hate this. RJ & Rex take to the floor repeatedly until Legacy comes flying out and damn near takes out the front row. Sean is impressing but Rex trips him up from the outside. RJ wearing him down but Legacy hits a great falcon arrow facebuster. Rex with the distract and RJ hits an Unprettier style headlock driver for the win.

Winner: RJ Rude

Rude wants an encore but Love Doug hits the ring to get some payback. Sean Legacy helps even the odds and Doug lets them know they have a date with the Love Doctors next week!

Match 2: Nahir Robles vs Allie Katch

Robles is debuting tonight against the very well loved Katch. Robles absolutely taking Mommy apart in the opening minutes. Allie’s shoulder is looking like it’s going out as Robles presses the attack. Spike X factor into a cross armbreaker. This is a kind of dark mirror matchup and Allie is having trouble fighting her own game. She finally dodges with a seated senton. Huge cannonball for two. A piledriver puts Robles to sleep out of the blue. Allie saved her skin in that last 30 seconds.

Winner: Allie Katch

Katch says she’s been liking her time at Open lately. But she has some unfinished business with Shannon LaVangie. She sees a lot of herself in Shannon. And she wants to see what Shannon can do and she wants it in a BEST OF FIVE SERIES!

Swipe Right vs The Big Shots happens in two weeks. We have a pair of beat the clock challenge matches to determine who gets to pick the stipulation.

Match 3: CPA & JGeorge (w/ Percy Ryan) vs The Big Shots (Pedro Dones & Dezmond Cole) (Beat The Clock Challenge)

CPA is willing to take this match seriously and not just tap out for his friends. He goes toe to toe with Boofa and gets respect for hanging through those sequences. Jgeorge doesn’t like respect and so he tags himself in to get beat up in a double team. Percy is a factor, of course he is. Dones eats an apron scissor kick and the shot caller might be taking his curtain call. Boots with the hot tag, rolling legdrop for two! CPA makes the most casual save ever. Percy yelling at CPA and JGeroge is blasted into him. Pedro slams him down and Cole hits the swanton for the win!

Winner: The Big Shots (time to beat: 6:38)

Match 4: Swipe Right (Ricky Smokes & Brad Baylor) vs The Church of Greatness (Tyree Taylor & Ichiban w/ Brother Greatness)

WOW, Swipe Right has a TALL TASK tonight if they wanna win. Ichiban knows the clock is running and plays VERY hard to get. Taylor gets in there to toss Smokes around. Baylor tries his luck and it’s a bad time for the beautiful one. They finally distract the ref and Ichiban eats a shot from the outside. This is the advantage Swipe Right needed. They continue these two on one cheap shot shenanigans to great effect. Five minutes have passed and Ichiban flies over them for the tag. Taylor just destroying them.bug uranage! Ichiban flies in on Baylor! Ricky pulls the leg and hits a slingshot spear! Tyree makes the save and starts dumping them over the top rope to let the clock expire! The Big Shots won the challenge…but the match must continue. Swipe Right is curious but get tossed into the ring…great boot to a jackknife pin combo that Ichiban has to save. Ricky tossed….Baylor eats a lariat! Ichiban runs in and they hit an Ichiban Kai/rock bottom combo. That should be it but Ricky pulls Baylor out and they head to the curtain to draw the count out.

Winners: Church of Greatness (by Countout)

Match 5: Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball)

World Class has nothing to do with sportsmanship as Channing attacks Marbury fro behind during his entrance. Benny hypes him back up and Marbury is rolling! He takes his eyes off to play to the crowd and Channing hits a great neckbreaker. Channing beating on this kid as Benny gets out the D Fence! Jermaine blasts some lariats…Kobe!!! He goes for the ankle lock! Channing tosses him off. Marbury with a series of rollups but Channing has an answer every time! Bakabella throws powder in the eyes of Marbury…Benny throws powder in Channing’s eyes! They are both blinded! They struggle in the ring in the cloud of powder….Channing with a rollup and gets Marbury. Booooooo!

Winner: Channing Thomas

It’s time for the contract signing for next week’s Wrestling Open Championship match between Big Bacon Brad Hollister and Fancy Ryan Clancy! Rich tries to host the affair but Hollister sends Rich packing. He asks Clancy how it’ll feel to come in second yet again. Fancy admits Brad’s had a good year….but Clancy’s on a roll too. He’s gonna dropkick Brad and leave him as he should be…sad and alone. They sign the paper….and of course Brad hits a low kick out of nowhere. He goes for a belt shot but Clancy ducks! Big dropkick sends Brad to the floor. Is this a preview of next week???

Main Event 1: Stetson Ranch(c) (Steven Stetson & Danny Miles w/ Hammer Tunis) vs Church of Greatness (Sammy Diaz & Lucas Chase w/ Brother Greatness) (for the Eliminator Cup tag team championship)

The first half of our double main event is here and god we hate the ranch. Sammy and Lucas have a good opening minute or so FOR THE CHURCH. Stetson catches a crossbody and posts Sammy over the turnbuckle. Miles going to work. Big delay vertical suplex. Tunis gets into it and distracts the ref and he misses the tag to Chase. Stetson with a gator roll and Miles drops an elbow on his head. Ranch doing a great job keeping Sammy isolated and mere inches away from his salvation. Sammy finally flips free a little over the ten minute mark…tag to Chase! Stetson bowled over! Spine buster to Danny! Lucas chase is a runaway train going right through the ranch. Samoan drop to Stetson and Sammy hits a Frogsplash for two! Miles tosses Sammy…Lucas popped up and Miles spears him out of the air…Sammy makes the save! Tunis gets involved but Brother Greatness pulls him off the apron! Lucas with a dive! Sammy with a crossbody body into Stetson but he’s left in a two on one and eats a total elimination variation for the win.

Winners: Stetson Ranch

The Ranch going for a post match beatdown but Tyree and Ichiban join the fray to drive them off. Maybe the other half of the church might take a run at the medals?

Main Event 2: “The Gnomie” Gabby Forza vs “Megasus” Megan Bayne

This is your second main event! This could headline a beyond show….but we got this tonight! Bayne powers Gabby into the corner. They block up around the buckles! Hard chops smashing back and forth. Bayne absorbs shoulder blocks! Gabby eats one right back. Bayne finally takes Gnomie down and smashes her into the corners. Stinger splash! Butterfly suplex! Gabby kicks out of the disrespect one foot pin and plows the Goddess over. Hard gnome lariats in the corner! Exploder out of the corner! Bayne sent to the floor to recover…Gabby tries a crossbody…Bayne reverses…Gabby slips it and Bayne eats the post! Slam to the floor! Can Forza be the one to finally break the several year undefeated streak of Megan Bayne in Beyond??? Bayne with a corner spear. Hard knees on the ropes. Belly to belly suplex sends Gnomie flying. Kick out! Gabby fighting back…she almost collapses on a fireman’s carry. Bayne’s been effective. They fight over a suplex…Gabby with the vertical! The crowd fired up as they make it to their knees to unload heavy hands. Gabby with a snap German!!!! Powerslam for two! Gabby escapes a F5! DVD for two!!! She tries a slingshot spear but Megan plants her into the canvas. Huuuuuuge sitout powerbomb to Gnomie for a close two! Bayne heads up top?!? Gnomie intercepts….german suplex off the top flips Bayne full over!! Oh my god the pop on that. Gabby goes for the spear…Bayne kicks her in the head…F5! Gabby kicks out!!! Megasus has to respect it and hits the bow down tombstone for the three count. She pulls Gabby back to her feet post match and offers a handshake. They pull it in….this HAS TO happen again. INCREDIBLE hard hitting contest and we just witnessed Gabby’s best match so far. Crowd LOVED this.

Winner: Megan Bayne

That last match was something special. Worcester has been watching the rise and growth of Gabby Forza week over week and we are clearly BEHIND Gnomie and she is just taking to this whole wrestling thing so well. But it also highlighted just how much of a talent Megan Bayne has grown into over the past few years. She was always a PRESENCE but this was an absolute war with someone who is relatively green in the ring. Magic happened tonight. Someone said it had the air of another Dijack/Lee moment. Maybe? I would happily watch this get run back and be excited to see how they can top this….again and again.
