By Matt ten-Hoeve on 2024-03-29 20:02:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com’s coverage of the March 29, 2024 edition of SmackDown from Uncasville, Connecticut. We are just 8 days away from WrestleMania 40!

Announced for tonight is:

-Jade Cargill will make her first appearance as a SmackDown Superstar

-The Street Profits vs. A-Town Down Under for a chance to join the Six-Pack Ladder Match at WrestleMania

-Bianca Belair vs. Dakota Kai

-The New Catch Republic vs. Legado del Fantasma for a chance to join the Six-Pack Ladder Title Match at WrestleMania

-Kevin Owens and Randy Orton vs. Pretty Deadly

Corey Graves welcomes us to SmackDown, reminding us that WrestleMania is just around the corner. Tonight, though? We are live from the Mohegan Sun Arena.

We go to a recap of the intense segment that ended Monday Night RAW between The Rock and Cody Rhodes.

The Bloodline is shown arriving at SmackDown. Solo Sikoa was shown first, nodding his head to tell Jimmy to “come on.” Jimmy Uso is looking super happy. Paul Heyman walked behind them.

Bianca Belair is shown arriving at SmackDown.

Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, and Asuka are shown arriving at SmackDown.

Randy Orton makes his entrance as Corey Graves and Wade Barrett talk about the upcoming Triple Threat Match for the United States Title at WrestleMania between Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton.

Match 1 - Randy Orton and Kevin Owens vs. Pretty Deadly

Kevin Owens starts off hot, punching and kicking Elton Prince. He gets Wilson down and goes for a quick pin. Kevin then tags in Randy and Elton wants nothing to do with that. Kit Wilson tags in. Randy initially gets the upper hand, but Elton Prince interjects. The action goes outside and Randy is dropped onto the announce table as the referee is tied up trying to get Kevin Owens back to his corner.

We go to commercial.

We are back with Randy Orton in the headlock of Kit Wilson. Kevin Owens gets the hot tag. In comes Elton Prince, as well. The action goes back and forth. It spills back to the outside. Pretty Deadly utilize the announce table again against Randy Orton.

As Pretty Deadly have Orton tied up on the outside, Logan Paul slips into the ring and lays out Kevin Owens in the ring with brass knuckles. Pretty Deadly slips in and pick up the win!

Winners: Pretty Deadly

Randy Orton gets in the ring and is confused. Kevin Owens is letting Randy Orton know that Logan Paul is under the ring. He looks under the ring after some crowd involvement and drags Paul from under the ring. He brings him to the announce table and is setting up a big move from on top of the table, but Pretty Deadly comes back and breaks it up. They bring Orton into the ring, but eat a Stunner from Kevin Owens and an RKO from Randy Orton.

Orton runs after Logan Paul. They go into the crowd. Just as Paul is about to get away, Owens cuts him off. Orton stalks Paul all the way into the back until Paul jumps in a car and speeds away.

Corey Graves lets us know that we’ll watch the footage of Bayley attacking Iyo Sky earlier in the day when we return from commercial.

We return to SmackDown with a WrestleMania hype video.

Next Friday, outside of Wells Fargo Center at 5 PM EST, there will be a WrestleMania Kickoff event. Free to all fans and streaming!

The Countdown to WrestleMania is at 5 PM EST on Saturday and streaming, as well.

We got to a pre-tape of Iyo Sky, talking about Bayley being a narcissist and a fake victim. Why do the fans feel sorry for her? She played a role in Iyo becoming champion, but Iyo made Bayley and then she was just kept around until the group got tired of her. They outgrew her. What needed to be done was done. Bayley was once a friend, but that’s a regret. She's an embarrassment and a tragedy to the company. After WrestleMania, Iyo wishes to never see her again. That’s a wrap…and Bayley attacks! Iyo fights back. They go through the green screen. The crew breaks them up as they try to get back at each other.

Nick Aldis is in the ring. He’s had one, definitive role - to make SmackDown a great show. The acquisition of the new member of SmackDown will help do just that. He introduces…Jade Cargill!

Smoke and snow fills the entrance. “A storm is coming” hits with Jade Cargill’s theme music. She comes out dressed in all red with her Storm-like white hair. She comes to the ring and signs her contract. “It’s about damn time,” she says. She goes on to say that the female roster is the best in the world, but they aren’t Jade Cargill. They aren’t a once-in-a-lifetime superstar. Quick weather update: the storm…has arrived.

Kayla Braxton interviews Dakota Kai, with Damage Control, in the back. Dakota says that Jade has done nothing yet, except just stand there. You know what the best part of SmackDown will be? When she beats Bianca Belair. She shouldn’t have interjected when they were taking out Naomi. She’ll regret it.

Nick Aldis is walking in the back. Isla Dawn stops him to try and talk about their entrance, but Alba Fyre drags her away. AJ Styles approaches and asks if LA Knight will be there tonight. “I asked him not to be here tonight,” Nick said. AJ responds with, “You should have told him!”

Match 2 - A-Town Down Under vs. The Street Profits

Before coming out, The Street Profits get a pep talk from Bobby Lashley and B-Fab.

Grayson Waller tries to take the early advantage on Ford, but Ford counters. Theory distracts Ford long enough for Waller to hit Ford. Theory tags in and Ford gets the better of him. He throws Waller outside and Dawkins hits him with a big tackle as we go to commercial.

Grayson Waller has complete control of Angelo Dawkins as we come back. Dawkins escapes and tries to tag Ford. Theory is in and briefly stops it, but Dawkins gets the tag. Ford comes in and is on fire. He hits a moonsault into a 2 count. Dawkins is back in. They hit a super blockbuster. Waller breaks up the pin. Dawkins lays out Waller and Theory goes for the quick pin on Dawkins. Theory hits a big sitout powerbomb. Ford is tagged in and about to go for splash.

Ford and Dawkins see on the screen that Lashley and B-Fab have been taken out by Karrion Kross. Dawkins starts to head to the back, so Theory and Waller take advantage of that and pin Ford.

Winners and going to WrestleMania: A-Town Down Under

After the match, the Authors of Pain attack The Street Profits. Karrion Kross joins them. Bobby Lashley, showing the impact from the beatdown, comes out. He takes down Kross, but is overwhelmed by AOP. AOP holds Lashley and Kross lays out Lashley. Kross yells at Lashley that, “Now no one goes to WrestleMania! You failed them and you failed yourself!”

Corey Graves and Wade Barrett talk about how faction warfare is running rampant on SmackDown. They talk about the LWO vs. Legado del Fantasma issues and throw to a video package of last week’s Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Escobar match where Dirty Dom Mysterio got involved to cause his father to lose.

Santos Escobar comes out with Legado del Fantasma. He’s going to thank Dirty Dom after commercial.

Legado del Fantasma is in the ring. Santos Escobar says that he hates to be that guy, but I told you so! He wants you to remember, especially the little kids with Rey Mysterio masks, that it was him who put Rey on the shelf for months. And then…he got to beat Rey last week. Rey is the greatest luchador of all time. Or, at least, he was. Rey was outsmarted and all it took was one phone call to a man who despises Rey just as much as Santos.

Out comes Dirty Dom Mysterio. He shakes hands with Legado del Fantasma. The crowd is booing loudly. Santos apologizes for the crowd. He thanks Dom from the bottom of his heart. He wants to apologize. They may not have seen eye-to-eye at first, but he wants to tell him now - he was right. They embrace and Dirty Dom takes the mic.

The crowd boos heavily and he tells the crowd to shut up. They boo to interrupt him as he claims that he’ll make his father’s life a living hell. Santos says that Rey always turns his back on the people he loves, which brings out Rey Mysterio and the LWO!

Rey says that he believed he was done fighting Dom. The crowd chants for the LWO. Now that Santos dragged Dom into and he wants to be a part of it, Rey realizes that the two men he despises the most is truly a divine intervention. He now has the opportunity to beat respect into both of them. He challenges them to a tag match against a partner of his choosing (the crowd chants for Carlito) at WrestleMania.

Dirty Dom asks which one of these “dorks” will be the partner. Rey says it’s the newest member of the LWO - Dragon Lee! Lee comes out wearing an LWO shirt. Lee joins the LWO in the ring and hugs them. Zelina Vega and Elektra Lopez square off and then things break down between the two factions. Dirty Dom goes for a 619 on Rey, but Carlito breaks it up. Dragon Lee flies and takes out Legado del Fantasma. The LWO celebrates in the ring.

Bianca Belair is stretching for her match. Naomi lets her know that she has Bianca’s back, if necessary. Bianca says she can’t be mad at Naomi. She gets it and appreciates the help. Naomi pumps Bianca up and shows an “EST” in her hair.

Legado del Fantasma is in the ring. The New Catch Republic comes out and we go to commercial.

Match 3 - The New Catch Republic vs. Legado del Fantasma

When we come back from commercial, The Judgment Day is confused as to why Dirty Dom went out to the ring. Dirty Dom comes to the back and they question him. He says he needs a doctor. JD McDonagh takes him to the doctor. Damien Priest says that WrestleMania is important - not just as a group, but as individuals. Rhea Ripley asks if there’s something she needs to know. Finn Balor says that WrestleMania will belong to The Judgment Day. All agree.

We return to the ring with tag team action.

When we return, Legado has control of Tyler Bate, but it doesn’t last long. Dunne gets tagged in and Berto is hit with a clothesline German suplex. Bate comes back in and Angel kicks him before the airplane spin can be spun. Legado takes control of Bate. Legado keeps Dunne on the outside and brings Bate to their corner. They hit a double press slam from the second rope. Dunne breaks up the pinfall and hits a huge DDT of Berto. Angel thinks he has Bate’s number, but Bate slips a powerbomb. The New Catch Republic hit their double tiger driver to win.

Winners and going to WrestleMania: The New Catch Republic

Corey Graves and Wade Barrett throw to a video recap of the issue between The Rock and Cody Rhodes from Monday Night RAW. They kept in the blood.

They included what happened “off the air” with The Rock continuing to hit Cody with the weight lifting belt.

We go to Paul Heyman. “By orders of the Tribal Chief.” When you hear that, what do you think is going to happen? They pan to Jimmy and he says that “by orders of the Tribal Chief,” it’ll be Solo vs. Jey Uso next week. Solo agrees…he’ll be taking him out “by orders of the Tribal Chief.”

Pete Dunne is being controlled by Legado. Dunne dumps Angel on his head and tags in Tyler Bate. Bate hits a big uppercut from the second rope, followed by a running shooting star. Berto comes in and Bate sends him to the outside. Legado is on the outside and Bate uses Dunne’s shoulders to hit a big dive to Legado as we go to commercial.

The Pat McAfee show will be live on Friday next week with Rhea Ripley, Triple H, Cody Rhodes, and Logan Paul.

AJ Styles is in the ring. “It’s been over a week,” he says. He blames the fans - saying they are the reason why what happened last week happened. He should have had Knight locked up so that he missed his first WrestleMania. He’s going to expose Knight for being overachieving and under-talented. He knows Aldis asked Knight not to be here, but Styles knows he’s there. He tries to lure Knight out to no avail. He claims Knight could be anywhere. He could be in the crowd. He could be the cameraman. He checks the cameraman. A man jumps over the barricade in a mask. Security stops him. AJ takes the mask off and it’s not Knight. Security takes the man away.

“Are we done with the games?” asks AJ. He’s not playing games at WrestleMania. As AJ says this outside of the ring, we see LA Knight in WWE security attire. The crowd pops and Knight beats down AJ in the ring. He goes to get a chair. AJ bails. Knight starts to run after AJ, but stops as AJ goes into the crowd. Knight grabs the mic and stands on the announce table. “You talk about how I’m trash? You’re the biggest piece of human waste I’ve ever seen.” AJ can run, hide…whatever. He’ll know whose game this is with everybody sayin’...LA KNIGHT! YEAH!

We get a Tiffany Stratton vignette. She talks about having glitter in her veins and how perfect she is. She vows to always look hot and spare our eyes from uggos. We will all find out what Tiffy Time is all about.

Out comes Bianca Belair. It’s time for the main event! It’ll happen after the commercial.

Match 4 - Bianca Belair vs. Dakota Kai

Announced for SmackDown next week:

*Solo Sikoa vs. Jey Uso.

*The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

*The KO Show with Special Guest Randy Orton.

*Zelina Vega vs. Elektra Lopez.

*The New Catch Republic vs. A-Town Down Under.

Dakota Kai makes her entrance. She comes out without Damage Control.

The match starts with Bianca taking down Dakota. Dakota rolls over and gets on top, but Bianca takes back control. She charges the corner and eats a boot. Kai with a quick pin, but Bianca kicks out and hits a series of suplexes. Kai hits Bianca with a knee on the last, delayed suplex. She sends Bianca outside and we go to commercial.

We are back with Dakota Kai in charge. She grabs a headlock. Bianca puts Kai on her back and uses the turnbuckles to break up the headlock. Bianca takes control. She goes for punches in the corner. Kai eats some, then slips under and grabs the long hair of Bianca. Bianca takes back control and throws Kai on the ground and into the ropes. Back and forth. Kai grabs the hair again, but Bianca gets control back. She hits a moonsault and Kai kicks out at two.

Kai is able to toss Bianca into the corner and then goes for a pin. Bianca kicks out. Kai is hurting, but in control. She kicks Bianca a few times. Bianca catches a kick and brings Kai down. They exchange forearms. Bianca’s power wins out and she rallies until Kai hits a scorpion kick. Kai misses a corner attack. She goes to the apron and tries to hit a knee on Bianca. Bianca moves and Kai hits her knee on the pole.

Bianca brings Kai up to the top rope and hits a big superplex. Bianca hits a spear and goes for the KOD. She hits it and gets the three.

Winner: Bianca Belar

The Kabuki Warriors come out and beat down Bianca Belar. Naomi comes out to make the save. Naomi is able to gain the advantage, allowing Bianca to recover and help. However, the numbers of Damage Control is too much and they take over the beat down.

Jade Cargill’s music hits and the beat down stops. She has changed into a sparkly bodysuit and looks ready to fight. She evens the odds all on her own and stares down Asuka, who is on the outside. Naomi and Bianca Belair stand next to her and seem to approve of Jade Cargill and the help she provided.

We get a video replay of Jade Cargill taking out Damage Control. The camera goes back and forth between the two trios as we fade to black.
