AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

It’s Wednesday! That means AEW Dynamite is LIVE from the great White North in Toronto. Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone have the call of tonight’s action. We see Christian Cage and Adam Copeland entering the building.  

Tony Schiavone brings out Mercedes Mone’, looking resplendent in a white fur coat.  She looks dressed for action. Toronto welcomes her. She tells us that all of this almost got taken away by Willow Nightingale last year in a match.

Mercedes shows us a video package of herself. Lights out. When they come back on Skye Blue and Julia Hart attack. That does not go well for them. They grab chairs. Willow and Kris Statlander come out.

Lights out again. When they come back on, they’re gone. Willow teases hitting Mercedes with a chair. Mone’ walks away.

Backstage, Okada and the Bucks approach Alex MArvez. The Bucks tell us that Okada will win the AEW Continental Title tonight.

AEW Continental Championship: Eddie Kingston vs. Kazuchika Okada

Lockup, clean break on the ropes. Slaps by Eddie into a round kick and a chop. Clubbing forearm by Kingston. Okada bails. Eddie chases and Okada axehandles him as he gets back in the ring. Side headlock by Okada. They trade shoulderblocks, Eddie gets the advantage. On the outside, Okada scores a DDT.

We see the Young Bucks watching with Tony Khan.

Back in the ring. Rude Awakening by Okada into a boot to the chest. Straightjacket by Okada.  Kneekift, snap mare and a running kick by Okada as we go to commercial.

We are back and it’s all Okada. Eddie chops back. Eddie blocks a hip toss and suplexes Okada. Clothesline and chops by Eddie. German suplex into a sliding elbow for 2. Eddie with kicks and a big chop. Dropkick by Okada. Knee to the neck for 2 by Okada. Bodyslam by Okada. Okada to the top. He misses and Eddie with a backfist for 2.

Okada and Kingston trade elbows. Big chop sends Okada down. Kingston blocks a lariat. Kick and a clothesline by Kingston. Kingston pulls the straps down. Eye gouge by Okada. Enziguiri by Kingston. Eddie misses a backfist. Shoulderbreaker by Okada into the Rainmaker for the pin.

WINNER AND NEW AEW CONTINENTAL CHAMPION KAZUCHIKA OKADA

Out comes Pac to let Okada know he wants a shot.

Renee Paquette is with Swerve Strickland. Swerve says AEW Champion Samoa Joe is ducking him. Swerve wants an open challenge tonight.

Renee is now with Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway. They vow to destroy Julia Hart and Skye Blue on Rampage. Mercedes Mone’ shows up. She’s nice to Statlander but blows off Willow.

Hook vs. Lionheart Chris Jericho

Lockup, suplex by Hook. Jericho clutches his head.  Hook with elbows and forearms to to Jericho. T Bone by Hook for 2. Into the buckle goes Jericho. He nails Hook off a charge. Jericho misses a charge and eats a German. Another German by Hook. A third straight by Hook as we go to commercial.

We are back and Jericho blocks a German and looks for the Walls. Jericho with a shoulder block but Hook nails a Northern Lights. Clothesline by JEricho. He nails a Lionsault for 2. Chops by Jericho. Face drop by Jericho. Kick by Jericho into a chop. On the top, Hook with Redrum. They get back on the mat. Jericho breaks it and punches away. Small package by Hook for the pin.

WINNER HOOK

We hear from Adam Cole.  He’s disappointed in Wardlow.  Wardlow’s new job is to help the other members of the Kingdom.

We see Jericho backstage with Renee Paquette. He praises Hook and will make a proposition to him next week.

Tony Schiavone brings out Will Ospreay. He apologizes for being naughty the last time he was in Toronto. He praises the recent Shibata vs. Danielson match. Ospreay lists his Japan accolades. He challenges Shibata to a match next week.

Toni Storm & Mariah May w/Luther vs. Deonna Purrazzo & Thunder Rosa

Double leg sweep by Rosa and Purrazzo.  May and Purrazzo seem to be the legal women in the match.  DDT by Purrazzo for 2. Dropkick by May. Storm tags in. Purrazzo nails a double clothesline. Rosa tags in and nails a running clothesline.  Uppsercut and snap mare by Rosa. Lariat for 2 by Rosa. Hip attack by Storm off of a Luther distraction as we go to commercial.

We are back and Deonna nails May with a running kick for 2. May blocks the armbar. Rosa tags in. Deonna doesn’t seem happy about that. Rosa with a DVD to May. Toni with a German to Rosa. Hip attack by Storm but an immediate rollup by Rosa for the pin.

WINNERS THUNDER ROSA & DEONNA PURRAZZO.

Purrazzo remains very unhappy.

Swerve Strickland vs. The Butcher

Headbutt by Swerve followed by kicks in the corner. Running kick by Swerve. Back elbows by Swerve.  Elbow by Butcher. Snap mare and kick by Butcher. Backbreaker by Butcher. Elbow and chop by Butcher. Swerve strikes back with kicks. Right hand by Strickland. Lariat by Butcher. Double stomp by Swerve into a house call. Swerve Stomp into a short arm scissor bar. Butcher taps.

WINNER SWERVE STRICKLANDy

Swerve grabs the mic and calls out Samoa Joe.  Says his feelings have gone from respect to hatred.  Joe comes out. Joe reminds Swerve that he lost at Revolution.  He’s at the bottom of the list of challengers. He chastises Swerve for giving people hope.  Joe goes to enter the ring and Don Callis comes out. Callus tells us that Takeshita is undefeated this year outside the Don Callis Family. Swerve accepts a match with Takeshita.  That’s official for next week.

I Quit Match for the TNT Championship: Christian Cage vs Adam Copeland

Cage comes out alone. Toronto has come to life for this one. Punches by Cage. Copeland reverses a whip. Cage bails out. Baseball slide dropkick by Copeland. Action spills into the crowd. The fight makes its way to the penalty box.  Copeland puts a Boston Bruins jersey on Cage and dons a Maple Leafs jersey of his own. They slug out out as we go to commercial.

We are back and a ladder has been introduced. Toronto chants TLC. Copeland bridges the ladder at ringside. Cage with a back elbow. Backstabber on the ladder by Copeland. Action comes back to the ring. Copeland with a gordbuster on the upside down ladder. Copeland sends Cage into the post on the outside. Copeland brings out a table and sets it up against the barricade. Cage avoids a spear and sends Copeland into the post. Eye poke by Cage.  Copeland is bleeding. Cross body by Cage sends Copeland through that table. Copeland will not quit. Back in the ring. Cage catapults the challenger into the ladder. Copeland won’t quit.

Cage to the top rope and misses a frog splash. Crossface by Copeland. Eye gouge by Cage.  They both go for a spear and collide hard.  We go to commercial.

Copeland sends Cage off the stage.  Copeland slams Cage off a hockey net. Cage begs off and Nick Wayne’s mom with a low blow from behind. Cage nails Copeland with a hockey stick. Repeated stick shots by Cage. Copeland will not quit despite the stick being shoved against his throat. Cage grabs 2 chairs, one of which is wrapped in barb wire. Cage sets up the conchairto. Copeland gets out of the way. Kick by Cage. Edge with a cross face assisted by the stick. Edge uses a drawstring to choke out Cage. Nick Wayne and Killswitch make the save.  Mother Wayne with a slap,  Daddy Magic and Matt Menard make the save. Killswitch eats an impaler. They throw Wayne onto Killswitch. Copeland nails a splash off the ladder to the floor. Menard and Garcia hand Copeland handcuffs.  The cuffs are used to restrain Kill switch and Wayne. Mother Wayne bails. Another set of handcuffs restrain Cage.

Copeland brings out Spike. Low blow by Copeland.  More low blows by Copeland and here comes Spike. Cage gets nailed low and finally quits.
