3/18 NEW JAPAN CUP SEMI-FINAL RESULTS FROM FUKUSHIMA, JAPAN

1 - Boltin Oleg and Shoma Kato vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and Mikey Nicholls

ZSJ forces Kato to tap out to a front face lock choke.

2 - Tomohiro Ishii, Togi Makabe and El Desperado vs. Taichi, Yuya Uemura and DOUKI

Uemura forces Makabe to tap out to a cross arm breaker.

Uemura has been getting the victories by submissions, quick pins or the Deadbolt Suplex.  Despite losing his hair to Yota Tsuji, he continues to look strong bygetting wins in these tag matches.

3 - Tanga Loa and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Great O-Khan and Callum Newman

Tanga forces Newman to submit to the Operation Jado Killer.

After the match, Tanga takes the mic and says to Great O-Khan that he beat him in the New Japan Cup.   He just beat his partner.   Tanga challenges Great O-Khan for the KOPW Title and he pick any stipulation that he wants.

Looks like that will be a match on the undercard for Sakura Genesis.  

4 - YOSHI-HASHI, Toru Yano and Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. KENTA, Chase Owens and Gabe Kidd

KENTA pins Tenzan after hitting him with the IWGP Tag belt. 

Bullet Club beats down the babyfaces after the match.  Chase Owens and KENTA badmouth YOSHI-HASHI to the cameras, teasing a possible IWGP Tag Title defense in the future.

5 -  Shota Umino, Hikuleo, El Phantasmo and YOH vs. Ren Narita, Jack Perry, Yujiro Takahashi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru

Umino forces Yujiro to tap out to an STF.

After the match, YOH steals the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title belt from Kanemaru.   Kanemaru has been holding the belt for SHO.   Kanemaru chases after YOH. 

6 - BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito vs. Jeff Cobb, TJP and Francesco Akira

Hiromu pins Akira with an unnamed Hiromu Roll also called "D".

7 - Yota Tsuji vs. EVIL

Tsuji hits a tope suicida on EVIL has he comes to the ring.   Togo attacks Tsuji.   They all brawl on the floor.   The referee takes a bump.  House of Torture and Los Ingobernales de Japon hit the ring.    Massive brawl.   

The referee was holding his ribs calls the match a "no contest".    Everyone stands around confused.  EVIL is angry at the referee.  Another referee comes out and everyone is sent to the back.   The new referee restarts the match and it is a one on one match.   EVIL throws Tsuji into the timekeeper table.  Back in the ring, they trade shots.   EVIL throws Tsuji into an unprotected turnbuckle.  Tsuji is selling his back.   EVIL hammers with strikes and chops.  Tsuji goes for a Gene Blaster but almost hits the referee.   EVIL grabs Tsuji and hits a Magic Killer.  EVIL hits Darkness Falls.   Two count.  EVIL hits the unprotected turnbuckle and Tsuji stuns him with a superkick.  EVIL hits two lariats, but Tsuji will not fall.  Tsuji hits a knee strike.   Tsuji with Falcon Arrow.  Two count.  

Tsuji goes for a triple jump curb stomp but EVIL pulls the referee and Tsuji drives his head into the mat.  Ouch!    House of Torture is back out again.  They all stomp on Tsuji.   BUSHI and Hiromu come to make the save, but House of Torture takes them out.   

EVIL hits a lariat on Tsuji.  Two count.  Tsuji reverses out of Everything is Evil and hits a headbutt.  Tsuji hits a version of Darkness Falls.   Two count.  Togo jumps in the ring and Tsuji hits a knee strike.   EVIL with a low blow on Tsuji.  EVIL throws Tsuji in to the referee.   A THIRD referee bump.  Narita is about to hit Tsuji with the push up bar.   Shingo Takagi comes to the ring and cleans house.   HIromu and BUSHI jump in the ring.  BUSHI sprays the black mist in EVIL's face.   Takagi hits a Pumping Bomber.  

A fourth referee comes to the ring.   Tsuji hits the Gene Blaster on EVIL.

Tsuji pins EVIL.

Yota Tsuji moves on to the Finals.

Too much shenanigans in this match, but that is what you get from a House of Torture match.  

8 - Hirooki Goto vs. SANADA

Good chain and mat wrestling to begin the match.  Goto hits a lariat sending SANADA to the floor.  Goto bounces him off the guardrails.   SANADA drags him into the crowd and hits a Piledriver on the concrete floor.   Goto beats the count back to the ring.  SANADA attacks Goto's neck with elbow strikes.  SANADA with a neckbreaker.  Two count.  Goto counters with spinning heel kick and back suplex.   SANADA with dropkick, sending Goto to the floor.  SANADA with a plancha.  They exchange reversals.   SANADA with a TKO.  Goto avoids a moonsault and hits an ushigaroshi.  They trade strikes and kicks.

SANADA counters a GTR into a Magic Screw.  SANADA hits a Shining Wizard and locks him in Skull End.   SANADA goes for a moonsault and Goto kicks out at two.   Goto blocks a Dead Fall and hits a headbutt.  Goto hits another headbutt.  Goto with two punt kicks to the chest.   SANADA counters a GTR into a backslide.   Two count.  SANADA with an O'Conner Roll.   Two count.   SANADA with a Shining Wizard.   Goto hits a GTW.   Goto drops SANADA with a GTR.

Goto pins SANADA.

Hirooki Goto moves into the Finals to face Yota Tsuji.

Yota Tsuji comes to the ring and addresses Goto.   They show each other respect.  

The Finals of the New Japan Cup 2024 will be on March 20, with Yota Tsuji vs. Hirooki Goto in the main event.
