CZW TO RUN PHILLY WRESTLEMANIA SUNDAY AFTERNOON, BRINGING PRO WRESTLING BACK TO MURPHY REC CENTER

By Mike Johnson on 2024-03-16 23:14:00

Pro Wrestling will return to the Murphy Rec Center, where Ring of Honor first premiered back in February 2002 as Combat Zone Wrestling has announced they will run the venue on Sunday 4/7 at 1 PM Eastern.

The Murphy Rec has not hosted professional wrestling since Ring of Honor was forced to exit the facility following a November 2006 event after the PA State Athletic Commission received a complaint about the size of the crowds ROH was bringing to the venue.  CZW would be the first promotion, to the best of my knowledge, to run the facility since.

Rich Swann, Milk Chocolate, Griffin McCoy, and Post Game have been announced thus far for the event, which has been titled "Philly Special."

CZW's last major show in Philly was the 2020 Cage of Death, which was held at the 2300 Arena.  They ran the Philadelphia Opal in 2022 but in recent years have focused on Maryland for most of its post-pandemic events.
