7 - El Phantasmo vs. Yota Tsuji
Both men tried to one up each other until ELP took down Tsuji with a hurricanrana. Tsuji rolls to the floor. ELP goes for a tope suicida but Tsuji hita a kick to the face. Tsuji throws him against the guardrail. Back into the ring, Tsuji applies a body scissors, then a rear naked choke. Rope break by ELP. Tsuji with a slam and a splash. Two count. ELP hits some chops and a swinging DDT. They fight to the floor and ELP hits another swinging DDT. ELP with a moonsault in the ring. Two count. Tsuji with a backbreaker. Tsuji stuns ELP with a leg scissor stomp. They battle to the ring apron. ELP hits Sudden Death. Tsuji blocks a CR2. Tsuji hits a knee strike. Tsuji misses a curb stomp. ELP misses a moonsault off the ringpost. Tsuji comes off the apron with a curb stomp. ELP gets back in the ring before the count out. Tsuji hits another curb stomp. But he does not go for a pin.
Tsuji hits ELP with chops. They fight to the top rope. Tsuji hits a Spanish Fly off the top rope. ELP avoids a Gene Blaster and hits Sudden Death. Two count by ELP. They trade near falls. Tsuji with an Falcon Arrow. ELP blocks the Gene Blaster and hits a CR2. Two count. They trade strikes. Tsuji hits a knee strike and a curb stomp. Tsuji hits a triple jump off the turnbuckle into another curb stomp.
Tsuji pins ELP.
Yota Tsuji moves into the quarter finals.
8 - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ren Narita
Narita comes out with House of Torture. Nicholls comes to the ring with ZSJ.
Before they lock up, House of Torture leaves to go back to the locker room, leaving Narita alone. Nicholls also leaves ringside.
They battle to the outside and fight into the crowd. Narita throws ZSJ into the English announce desk and other guardrails around ringside. Narita takes ZSJ amongst the crowd and hits a lariat over the guardrail. Narita hits ZSJ with a chair. Narita attacks his neck with elbows and kicks. ZSJ goes for submissions but Narita grabs him by the ear. ZSJ is favoring his left eye and ear. They trade kicks. ZSJ hits a stiff running boot. ZSJ goes back to submissions and kicks to Narita's left arm. Narita counters with a hanging lariat. Narita goes for rear naked choke. They trade strikes. They hit double kicks and knock each other to the mat.
Narita hits a Narita Special. Two count. Narita with a Guillotine Knee. Two count. They trade near falls. Narita is bleeding from the bridge of the nose. ZSJ hits a hard open hand strike. Narita applies a Cobra Twist. ZSJ gets the rope break. Narita hits another Guillotine Knee from the top rope. Two count. They trade cross arm breakers. House of Torture comes back. Nicholls comes back.
Kanemaru jumps into the ring and sprays ZSJ with the Suntory Surprise. ZSJ is blinded and lets go of Narita. Perry and Yujiro jump in the ring. Nicholls takes them out. EVIL and Togo goes for a Magic Killer but ZSJ fights them off. Narita hits ZSJ with the push up bar. Narita hits the Double Cross.
Narita pins ZSJ.
Ren Narita moves into the quarterfinals to face Yota Tsuji.
Narita grabs his push up bar and heads back to the locker room. No one addresses the live crowd in Osaka.
The Quarterfinals of the New Japan Cup 2024 are now set with the following matches:
1. David Finlay vs. Hirooki Goto
2. SANADA vs. Jack Perry
3. EVIL vs. Shingo Takagi
4. Yota Tsuji vs. Ren Narita
Bullet Club has a presence in each match up. More specifically, House of Torture has a good chance of winning the tournament with Jack Perry, EVIL and Ren Narita still in the mix. Tetsuya Naito has teased Takagi and Tsuji at different moments, which still is a possible outcome.
The Quarterfinals begin tomorrow in Aichi.
