O-Khan forces Honma to tap out to the Sheep Killer.
2 - Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. Callum Newman, Francesco Akira and TJP
They mentioned on commentary that TJP is taking the lead position in United Empire and transitioning to the heavyweight division.
Bishomon hits a Shoto on Newman. YOSHI-HASHI pins Newman.
TJP had heated words with Tomohiro Ishii after the match.
3 - Ryusuke Taguchi and Shota Umino vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Jack Perry
Perry pins Taguchi after a Glass Jaw Knee Strike.
Perry and Taguchi continue to stomp on Umino after the match. Perry calls out SANADA as he walks back to the locker. Jack Perry and SANADA will meet in their Round 2 match.
4 - DOUKI, Yuya Uemura, Taichi and SANADA vs. Gedo, Chase Owens, KENTA and David Finlay
DOUKI forces Gedo to tap out to the Italian Stretch No. 32 (aka "the DOUKI Chokey")
Uemura takes a look at the IWGP Tag Team belts. Owens and KENTA get in his face and takes their belts away.
5 - Mickey Nicholls and Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Yujiro Takahashi and Ren Narita
Nicholls hit Yujiro with a Sliding Lariat. ZSJ followed with a Penalty Kick to the chest.
ZSJ pins Yujiro.
Ren Narita will face Zack Sabre Jr. in Round 2 which should be a good match.
6 - El Desperado, Togi Makabe, El Phantasmo and Tanga Loa vs. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Yota Tsuji and Tetsuya Naito
Tsuji pins Makabe after a Gene Blaster.

7 - Hikuleo vs. EVIL
EVIL immediately chop blocks Hikuleo's left knee, which House of Torture tried to injure the last few nights. Hikuleo absorbed the offense and dropped an elbow on EVIL. Hikuleo took the match to the floor and bounced EVIL off the guardrails. Hikuleo misses a running boot and gets his leg caught on the guardrail Dick Togo blasts him in the right knee with a chair. EVIL continues to attack his legs with submissions and chairs. Hikuleo made a comeback but the referee takes a bump, and House of Torture hits the ring. They beat down Hikuleo. EVIL makes a cover. Hikuleo kicks out at two. EVIL puts on the Darkness Scorpion. Hikuleo gets to the ropes.
Hikuleo reverses out of Everything Evil and hits a Tonga Twist. Hikuleo hits a TKO. Yujiro rings the bell which distracts everyone. Referee takes another bump. Narita hits a Guillotine Leg Drop. House of Torture beats on Hikuleo again. Tanga Loa and El Phantasmo make the save and they brawl back to the locker room. Hikuleo goes for a Godsend but EVIL avoids it and hits a chop block. EVIL hits Everything is Evil.
EVIL pins Hikuleo.
EVIL moves into the quarterfinals of the New Japan Cup.
EVIL takes a metal plate out of his elbow pad which he used to chop block his opponent.
8 - Shingo Takagi vs. Gabe Kidd
Kidd attacks Takagi before he could get in the ring. Kidd hit Takagi with a chair and threw him into guardrails. They fight into the crowd. They fight near the ring bell. Kidd grabs the mic and talks trash. Takagi gets pissed off and they brawl all around ringside. They enter the ring and referee starts the match. They fight back to the ring floor. They brawl into the crowd. Very dangerous for the fans. Kidd hits a Piledriver on a stack of chairs. Kidd and Takagi were both lying among the personal belongings of the fans. Referee begins the count. Takagi makes it back to the ring.
Kidd with a back suplex. Two count. Takagi rolled out of the ring holding his neck. Takagi makes in back in the ring and they trade strikes. Kidd hits a wicked open hand smack to the face. Takagi was selling the neck. Takagi hulks up, and Kidd punches him in the face. Takagi comes back with a lariat. Kidd with an exploder suplex and Takagi lands on his neck. They trade headbutts. They exchange chops and strikes. Kidd hits a lariat. One count. Takagi with a Pumping Bomber. Two count. They hit lariats at the same time. Both men are down.
More strikes and chops. Takagi hits Made in Japan. Two count. Kidd hits a spinning lariat and a tombstone piledriver. Takagi kicks out! They exchange more strikes. Takagi with a back slide. Kidd kicks out. Takagi hits a sliding elbow smash. Takagi hits a series of elbows. Takagi with a Pumping Bomber. Takagi hits Last of the Dragon.

Shingo Takagi advances to the quarterfinals against EVIL
Good match. Kidd plays a good psycho and can fight the Japanese Strong Style. Fun stiff match.
Takagi thanks the crowd and sends them home happy. Yota Tsuji and Tetsuya Naito come to the ring to congratulate their teammate. More teasing of either Tsuji or Takagi facing Naito for the IWGP World Title at Sakura Genesis.
Round 2 of the New Japan Cup 2024 will conclude on Friday.
