By Cory Strode on 2024-03-09 23:04:00

It is Saturday and AEW Collision was recorded Thursday at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, GA. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Bryan Danielson vs Shane Taylor w/Lee Moriarty

They lock up collar and elbow and Taylor shoves Bryan back. They lock up again and Taylor backs them into the corner and then tosses Bryan across the ring. Taylor is crap talking to Bryan every time there is a pause in the action. They then lock up with a greco roman knuckle lock and Taylor forces Bryan down. Bryan escapes and tries to pick the leg, but Taylor is too big. Bryan hits the hammer and anvil elbows to break free.

Bryan gets a kick on Taylor, and Taylor responds with a jaw to Bryan’s jaw. Taylor then lays in chops in the corner. Bryan gets a series of kicks in the corner, but Taylor is able to lay in a chop. Bryan lays in kicks and chops and goes for the leg again. They go into the ropes and Bryan stomps on Taylor’s ankle on the bottom ropes. Bryan works over Taylor in the corner, still going after that ankle when he gets a chance.

Taylor is able to get away and works over Bryan in the corner. He nails Bryan with a knee left and then gives him a blow that knocks Bryan out of the ring and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Taylor drops a leg on Bryan on the apron. Taylor covers for two. Taylor yells at Bryan again and then lays in more chops and strikes. Taylor whips Bryan into the corner, and Bryan goes up the ropes and backflips over Taylor. Bryan drop kicks the leg he’s been working over. Taylor goes for a splash, and Bryan gets out of the way. Bryan then wraps the leg around the ring post twice.

Bryan lays in a series of Yes kicks on Taylor’s leg. Taylor drops to his knees and Bryan lays in more kicks. Bryan covers for one. Taylor gets a lariat for two. Taylor gives Bryan a few mocking kicks. Bryan gets in a few blows and Taylor gets a headbutt, a slam and a splash for two. Taylor misses a cannonball itn eh corner and when Bryan goes for the psycho knee, Taylor catches him.  Bryan lays in kicks and hits the psycho knee for the pin and the win.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

Will Opsreay comes to the ring and grabs a mic. Ospreay asks the crowd to give Bryan and Taylor a round of applause. Ospreay says that after years of work, Bryan is still at the highest levels. The crowd serenades Ospreay. He says he has noticed the sammiches backstage are lovely, and everyone looks at Bryan and says he sets the bar. He then thanks Bryan for everything he’s done.

But…

He says that Bryan interrupted him at his main event on Dynamite, and maybe Bryan has something he wants to ask him. Bryan welcomes him to AEW and says he’s been seeing Ospreay saying he’s the best wrestler in the world, and he wants to give him the chance to prove it.  He challenges Ospreay to a match at Dynasty, and Ospreay accepts.

The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, and Kazuchika Okada) Vs the Already in the Ring John Cruise, Liam Gray, and Adrian Alanis

Nicholas tags in Okada immediately. Okada takes each member of the other team out and tosses them to the corner for the next to tag in. Okada hits the rainmaker on the third member of the other team for the p[in and the win.

Winners: The Elite

Eddie Kingston hits the ring after the bell and is beaten down immediately. Penta shows up for the rescue and Okafda takes him out with a shoulder breaker.

Pac then comes to the ring.

The bucks are dispatched and Pac and Okada go face to face. Pac is able to hit a snap suplex and the Bucks drag Okada away.

Pac grabs a mic and says the bastard is back and he’s looking for trouble so if they want trouble, they are barking up the right tree. He says they reap what they sow. Eddie says next week on Dynamite, it’s a six man tag.

We then get a video to build the Jay White vs Darby Allin match on Dynamite.

Mariah May (in Toni Storm’s old gear) vs the Already in the Ring Trish Adora

They trade arm bars, and when Adora gets May in a head scissors, May twists out of it. Adora then gets a pair of hip tosses and gets a rollup on May for two. May gets a tejaris and follows with a shotgun drop kick and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Adora gets a pump kick and a senton splash for two. May gets a kick and a hair takedown. She then misses a running knee and Adora gets a suplex and holds on for two. May hits a headbutt and then gets the running knee.  May hits the May Day for the pin and the win.

Winner: Mariah May

As soon as the match is over, it’s time for the Toni Award. Toni and Luther come to the stage, and Toni has a standing mic and says it is the Toni award with an I so they don’t get sued.   The nominees are Mariah May, for her performance as Toni Storm and Revolution.  And the award goes to…

Mariah May!

Deonna Purrazzo then arrives and attacks Toni with a shoe.  May attacks Purrazzo and gets a DDT on the ramp. Toni then gives May the award. Which is a shoe.  And the crowd chants “You deserve it.”

Totally silly and I loved it.

We then get a hype video for Riho vs Willow Nightingale.

Christian Cage comes to the ring with Killswitch, Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne.

Nick Wayne vs the already in the ring Adam Priest

Three squashes in a row?

Wayne does a lot of showboating, and the crowd is all over him as the match goes on. Wayne hits Wayne’s World.

Winner: Nick Wayne

Christian grabs the sign of a fan in a mask and the fan attacks him.  After beating Cage down and taking his TNT belt, we see it’s Adam Copeland, who slides a box in the ring. Cage’s team surrounds the ring, and Adam shows Cage what is in the box and Cage backs off and tells everyone to leave with him.

We don’t see what’s in the box. Adam tells him to get ready to say two words.  I Quit.

In the back, Lexi Nair is our interviewer. Mark Briscoe is with Jarrett’s team. Jarrett asks if they can trust each other. He tells Mark man to man, he’ll do anything to win.

Chris Jericho vs Titan

Jericho comes out to the Lionheart music instead of Judas. Titan is a CMLL Luchador

Jericho gets a waistlock takedown and then a bow and arrow stretch. Titan gets free and they go to arm bars. Titan gets an arm drag. They trade chops and Jericho chops Titan to the corner. Titan is whipped to the corner and he flips over Jericho and hits a leaping insigiri. Titan walks the rope into a double springboard to a hurricanrana. Jericho goes to the floor and Titan dives onto him.

They brawl on the floor and Jericho is knocked into the steel steps. Jericho is rolled into the ring and Titan goes to the top. Jericho meets him there and they trade blows, and Jericho hits a bulldog from the top for two as Titan puts a foot on the ropes and we go to picture in picture.

Jericho hits a big knee for two. Jericho calls for the Judas effect, but misses. Titan gets a leaping kick and Titan gets a Death Valley Driver for two. Titan goes for the double springboard hurricanrana, but Jericho is able to block it and instead locks on the liontamer and Titan has to tap.

Winner: Chris Jericho

The Gates of Agony come out to attack Jewricho and the Hook Signal is lit.  Hook comes to the ring with a Kendo stick, and clears the ring.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and invites FTR to the ring to talk about the Tag Team Tournament and they don’t tell him  to get out of the ring like everyone else does. Cash says things didn’t go their way at Revolution and all they can do is pick themselves up, dust themselves off and just keep moving. He says 2024 marks 10 years of FTR being together.

Dax says Collision has been built on the back of tag teams, and it would be easy to say they will win the titles and carry the division to new heights. Dax says he’s not a liar, so after their loss at Revolution, they are going through self doubt and aren’t firing on all cylinders. But they will give everything they have to win those titles.

The Infantry, Captain Shawn Dean and Charlie Bravo come to the ring and put themselves over. They say they respect FTR and may the best team win. They shake hands and say they are coming for their spots. They then say the Tag Team division needs a revival. Dax says the revival is dead, and if they meet them in the tournament, they will be too.

We get a hype video of Big Business on Dynamite Wednesday.

Mistico vs Angelico w/Serpentino

Místico is a CMLL Luchador.

A fourth match with a squash talent?  If you want to make Collision a Must Watch show, that’s not the way to do it.

They shake hands to start and then lock up. They trade arms bars and flips to get out of them. They each get a leg sweep and recover before a pin. We then get a series of hip tosses and Angelico asks for a timeout and Mistico allows it. They run the ropes and Mistico gets a springboard back elbow as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, they are running the ropes and Mistico gets a tejaris and a tiger feint kick. He follows with a top rope drop kick. He then dives onto Serpentico at ringside and Serpentico gets his first TV time in ages. Mistico gets a drop kick knocking Angelico to the floor. He hits a hurricanrana on from the ring to the floor. Angelico is rolled into the ring and Mistico gets a tornado dive into the ring for two.

Mistico goes to the top for a senton splash for two. Mistico lays in stomps and then goes once again to the top. Mistico tries a moonsault, but Anglico rolls out of the way, and Mistico lands on his feet. Angelico gets a rollup for two. Mistico gets a rollup for two. Angelico and Mistoco trade running clotheslines in the corner, and they both are knocked down with kicks. Mistico gets a leaping crossbody and then gets a rollup for two. Mistico is able to get an arm bar and Angelico has to tap out.

Winner: Mistico

Sepentico wants to fight, but Angelico stops him and they shake hands.

It’s time for the main event!

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, and Brody King) vs Mark Briscoe, Jay Lethal, and Jeff Jarrett in an Atlanta Street Fight

Jarrett brings out the garbage cans full of plunder. Mark and Black throw hands in the middle of the ring. Lethal and King then take the ring and brawl to the floor. Jarrett and Matthews brawl down the ring as he and Lethal set up a table at ringside. All six men brawl at ringside with Jarrett using a chair. Matthews and Mark fight near a table.  Lethal charges at King, and instead, King slugs him in the face and then hits a cross body through a table.

Mark and Matthews fight on the apron and after Mark knocks Matthews to the floor, Brody shoves Mark off the top into chairs on the floor as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Matthews douses a table in lighter fluid.  Sonjay Dutt shows and nails King with a guitar, which just makes him turn to go after Dutt.  Dutt falls down while backpedaling. Julia Hart shows and gives Matthews a can of gas, and Matthews pours the gas on Dutt and Hart has a lighter. Karen Jarrett gives Matthews a low blow from behind, Dutt then knocks Matthews off the stage through a table. Hart then gives Dutt a low blow and hits Karen with the black mist.

At ringside, Mark and Jarrett are fighting King in the ring. Lethal and King fight on the apron, and they exchange forearms. Lethal tries to lift King up and instead, King gets the sleeper on Lethan and drops him on the floor. Jarrett nails King with a guitar, and King goes off the apron through a table.  Black nails Jarrett with a spin kick, and he’s the only one left standing.

Mark hits the ring, and Black has a spike. Mark stops the spike attack and instead hits Black with the Jay Driller. Mark grabs the spike, and Hart grabs his foot. Mark nails Black when he tries to attack and knocks him to the floor. Mark sets up a chair and uses it as a launching pad for a cannonball, but Matthews and Black catch him and slam him onto the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring.

The table is set on fire and Mark is slammed through it. Mark is rolled into the ring, and Black covers him for the pin and the win.

Winners: The House of Black
