ROH Episode 54: “Champions, Where Are You?”
We are four weeks away from Supercard of Honor and we have yet to announce one match for the card. This episode was fixated on the ROH Women’s Television Tournament as well as a huge four-way tag team match in the main event.
Leyla Hirsch vs Red Velvet:
This was a fun match. In my opinion, this was another match that could have been in the finals of the tournament, but ROH decided to treat us to it early. Hirsch and Velvet had a great back-and-forth throughout this match and commentary mentioned the fact that these two have wrestled previously on both Dynamite and Rampage. The match ended with Velvet getting a roll-up victory over Hirsch as they both exchanged the code of honor and hugged.
Winner: Red Velvet
Infantry Promo:
The Infantry is showing off their new merch and talking about how they are one of the most successful teams in ROH. They say they are looking to get more wins under their belt to show that they are a top team in ROH truly.
Abadon vs Judie Azul:
This was a squash match. Mercedes Martinez who Abadon will wrestle in the next round of the tournament came out to scout her opponent. Martinez said she is not scared and she will beat Abadon next week.
Winner: Abadon
Serpentico and Angelico Promo:
Serpentico and Angelico confront Maria Kanellis about wanting a match with her baby boys. Kanellis says that her baby boys do not face losers and if they want to face them as well as Serpentico getting his mask back they must win in the main event tonight.
Jon Cruz vs Lee Johnson:
Cruz brought a lot of comedic aspects to this match, including stalling the match and also trying to get the crowd into the match by taking time-outs. Johnson is on a huge winning streak as he now moves to six straight wins so I hope they have huge plans for him on the pay-per-view in a couple of weeks.
Winner: Lee Johnson
Nyla Rose vs Airica Demia:
Another squash. Nyla dominated.
Winner: Nyla Rose
Jack Cartwheel & Gringo Loco vs The Work Horsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake) vs The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) vs Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico):
This was a fun main event and the right team won. Since Cartwheel and Loco have been shown more frequently on ROH, so I am assuming we are going to see them not only on the pay-per-view but also on more episodes of ROH as well. The Infantry gets the win as Kanellis taunts Serpentico about having his mask that he can not get back.
Winners: The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)
Overall:
I hate it when they use two different tapings on one episode. Most of these matches were taped a couple of weeks ago, but Cruz vs Johnson was taped last night before Dynamite because you can see the new stage as well as the tunnels. Also since the pay-per-view is four weeks out you would think we would get at least one champion on the show, but sadly I was too hopeful. Let’s try again next week,
