It is Wednesday and this week Dynamite is at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, GA. The commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Taz, and Excalibur.
We have a new theme song, a new logo, and a new set (back to two entrance tunnels).
Tony Schiavone starts by being in the ring to Interview Swerve Strickland with Prince Nana and his dancing. Swerve is feeling low key after losing the title match at Revolution. He feels his loss is karma for all of the bad things he has done no matter what the crowd chanting says. Swerve says he is coming for Samoa Joe for the AEW World title.
This brings out Samoa Joe who says that Swerve is making promises he will never keep. Joe is here for a reality check. He says that rather than the crowd seeing an almost champion, they get to see the real champion.
Swerve says he came out in his gear and waved the title in front of him. He says they should fight right now. They are interrupted by the Undisputed Kingdom’s music, and the whole team comes to the stage and Adam Cole says it’s storytime. Roderick Strong is the new International Champion, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett are the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, and Joe is only champion because they let him.
Cole says Wardlow will challenge and win the World Championship. Swerve laughs at him and says that Cole keeps failing when he gets an opportunity. Cole says The Kingdom should fight Swerve and Joe. Swerve says why wait until next week, and Cole says the match is next week.
Tony cuts in and says Tony Khan says the match is happening right now.
The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions vs Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland
They start off quickly and Joe just beats Taven down, despite attempts at interference from Bennett. Joe refuses to tag in Swerve, and the Kingdom is able to work double team moves on him as we go picture in picture. Swerve tags in when we come back to full screen, and he works his high flying style on both Taven and Bennett. Swerve gets the stomp on Taven, refuses to tag in Joe, and then hits Big Pressure on Tave for the pin and ther win.
Winners: Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland.
Joe waits until Swerve turns his back on Joe, and Joe locks in the coquina clutch.
While having the ROH Tag Team Champions being used as fodder isn’t something I like, but continuing the feud between Joe and Swerve.
We are then told next week is Joe vs Wardlow.
In the back, Renee Paquette is with Hook and before he can say anything, Chris Jericho shows up and says the first match Jericho had in AEW was with Taz. Jericho says he didn’t respect Hook until Hook dumped him on his head. The fist bump and Hook heads to the ring.
The Young Bucks have a huge announcement. Then they say they have two huge announcements and they will make them in the ring later tonight.
Hook (FTW Champion) vs Brian Cage
The story of this match is that Hook is trying to get a suplex on Cage, and Care is trying to overpower him. Since it’s FTW rules, Hook brings out the plunder early with a fire extinguisher and a garbage can lid. They brawl on the floor, and Cage misses a charge at Hook and goes through the barricade.
In the ring, we get garbage cans, a chair, a section of the barricade and a kendo stick. Hook does get the T=Bone suplex and a suplex onto the barricade in the ring. Cage then gets a power bomb and a F5 onto the chair. Cage goes under the ring for a bag of thumb tacks, which are not needed. Of course, since Cage brought them into the ring, he gets suplexed onto them. Hook gets the redrum and Cage drops backward onto the tacks to try to get Hook to let go. Hook does not let go and Cage has to tap out.
Winner and still FTW champion: Hook
The Gates of Agony show up to attack Hook, but Jericho shows up with a bat to drive them off.
We then get a video package that there will be a tag team tournament for the vacant World Tag Team Titles.
Renee is with Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends. Cassidy says he will do whatever he can to fill his backpack with new titles. Chuck Taylor says that he is still injured, but Cassidy and Trent Beretta should go for them, and they have a match on Rampage to get started.
Killswitch vs Matt Menard
Christian Cage joins commentary.
The crowd is behind Menard whenever he gets a move in, and it shows that he’s done a good job of becoming liked by fans by fighting Cage and his team. Cage talks about as long as he’s in wrestling, he will make sure to keep all of these young lions down. Killswitch obliterates Menard with a clothesline from behind for the pin and the win.
Winner: Killswitch
Killswitch sets to choke slam Menard, and Garcia shows to save him. Nick Wayne hits the ring and they take out Garcia.
When they pose at the top of the ramp, Adam Copeland shows up with a chair. He takes out Wayne and Killswitch, blocks a low blow from Mother Wayne and chases Cage through the building. Cage tosses someone out of a SUV and drives off with it.
Carjack Jones!
Copeland says it has to end where it started, in Toronto in an I Quit match.
In the back, Renee is with Kyle O’Reilly. He says in the two years he was gone, he thought he may never wrestle again, but now he’s grateful to have a second chance. He says he has nothing but love for the Undisputed Kingdom, but he feels he needs to do it on his own.
Tony is in the ring after a video for Sting’s retirement, and he introduces the Young Bucks. They, like most everyone else, tell Tony to get the hell out of their ring, and say Sting and Darby Allin cheated. Nick says they are going to get the tag team titles back. Matt says they have two HUGE announcements. He says Adam Page attacks officials at the PPV, so he is suspended from The Elite without pay indefinitely. They then say Kenny Omega has been missing dates, so he is fired from The Elite.
Before they can make the second announcement, Eddie Kingston comes to the ring. He starts to talk about something, and Matt asks him to talk about it in the back. Nick attacks Eddie and Eddie starts to fight back, but Matt low blows him and they start the beat down…
AND KAZUCHIKA OKADA COME TO THE RING!
And Okada takes out Eddie with a Rainmaker. Matt says Okada has signed with The Elite.
One of the biggest open secrets, and having him come in as a hell gives them a lot of feuds right off the bat, especially if he becomes The Bucks’s enforcer. Not as big of an explosion they wanted, but having him attack Eddie makes him one of the top heels instantly.
Kris Statlander vs Riho
Statlander just power houses Riho, not letting her get any of her high speed offense in. After the commercial break, Riho is starting to fight back and gets kicks and strikes with speed. Riho is able to get a flurry of attacks and keeps dodging Statlander’s attacks. Statlander is able to finally get a power bomb, and Stokelyu slides a chain in the ring, and Nightingale tells Statlnder she doesn’t need it.
She tosses it away and Statlander gets a German suplex on Riho. Riho is able to roll through the next German Suplex attempt for the most devastating move in wrestling, the surprise rollup for the pin and the win.
Winner: Riho
In the back, Renee is with Toni Storm and she says it is award season, and she will be presenting the first Toni awards on Collision. She then shows the new Marian May shirt, which is May in the Toni Storm gear.
Renee is with Stokely Hathaway and Willow Nightingale, and she asks what happened out there. Stolkely says that Statlander needs to accept the help of the people who love her. Willow is told she will be facing Riho next week. Willow says she wants to be the TBS Champion, so next week, they do it her way.
Tony is back in the ring to bring Darby Allin to the ring and Darby has Sting’s bat. He says next week he is facing Jay White and then after that he flies out to climb Mount Everest. He takes time to thank every fan and AEW. he relinquishes the title and Jay White comes to the stage with the Gunn club. He says he needs to come to the ring to congratulate Darby on an amazing night at Revolution and he tells Tony to leave as well.
White then says that Darby going off the ladder was kind fo stupid, but thank goodness Sting prevailed. He says he doesn't care about Sting’s retirement, but he does care that Sting is gone and now Darby is all alone. He then tells Darby he doesn’t have to get in the ring with him next week since no one has his back and no one would think any less of him for it. He says instead of a match, Darby can hang with the Bang Bang Scissor Gang.
Darby says since Jay came to AEW all he has done is play with cardboard cutouts, and challenges Jay to come to the ring alone. Darby puts the bat under Jay’s chin and says he will see him at Big Business.
We then get a video from Julia Hart who says she is issuing an open challenge to remind people who she is.
We then get a video from the House of Black and they say they will destroy Mark Briscoe Saturday on Collision.
Renee is with Mark Briscoe and says he’s not scared and he walks through the flames and does the two step with the devil and he’ll take them on by himself. Jay White shows and says it’s time he man’s up and he’ll fight with him. Mark isn’t happy about Jeff Jarrett being involved in the fight, but Lethal says you need a bastard like Jarrett on your side in a fight like that.
Will Ospreay vs Kyle Fletcher
Don Callis joins commentary.
Ospreay is acting pure babyface with playing to the crowd and the crowd cheering him. They start with Mat work, and when Ospreay is hit with a shoulder tackle, he pops right back with a kip up. They work a stiff style as they chop and whip each other into the corners.
They slow down when they come back from commercials. Fletcher then goes to work on Ospeary’s neck, and works with quick flurries and then a pause, quick flurry, and then a pause. Ospreay does a move where he tries for a hurricanrana, Fletcher blocks it, and Ospready is able to pull himself up and get a DDT. Just an amazing display of strength. They go back to trading big moves and recovering after each one.
When we get to the third segment, they are showing just how good they both are working together. Snap moves followed with recovery, just like the matches in NJPW. Both Ospreay and Fletcher have great facial expressions to TELL A STORY as they fight. As well as Fletcher knows Ospreay, Ospreay knows Fletcher doesn’t know everything he can do.
As they move to near falls, both men come off as tough fighters, and Ospreay wins with a hidden blade for the pin and the win.
Winner: Will Ospreay.
Don Callis gets in the ring and we then hear Bryan Danielson’s music. Bryan walks to the ring and we are desperately out of time.
