Scenic City Invitational “2024 SCI Rumble”

3/2/24 - Apison, TN. 

The road to the Scenic City Invitational Tournament in July begins tonight!

Match 1: Diego Hill vs Landon Hale

Great high energy opener. A rematch of their December clash at ACTION. This is all go, no slow. Landon hits the SPO for the win but there’s certain to be a rubber match in the future here.

Winner: Landon Hale

Match 2: The Good Hand (c) (Suge D & Kevin Ryan w/ Kasey Owens & The Wall) vs The Buff & Fluff Connection (Cody Fluffman & Sean Legacy) (for the ACTION Tag Team Championships)

Cody Fluffman has been an anomaly in his rise in popularity on the Southeast scene. Popularity doesn’t really solve a numbers game. They give a good fight but Wall helps Ryan bomb Legacy and a jackknife pin leads to a successful defense. The Good Hand trying to make this a 4 on 2 beatdown but Lobo Okami makes his return to run them off! 

Winners: The Good Hand

Match 3: Darian Bengston(c) vs Hunter Drake (for the TWE Championship)

Darian Bengston has been a dominant champ for TWE. Hunter Drake is a bit extra mad tonight because he lost his New South championship the night previous at HOSS Night One. Unfortunately, maybe that frustration got too far into his head as Bengston does a great job of handling Drake and 

Winner: Darian Bengston

Match 4: TANK (w/ The Reverend) vs Bojack

Big meaty men throwing bombs. Bojack almost wears Tank out by just being a wall that absorbs shoulder blocks. Tank plays the long game and grinds the kid out, planting him with a saito suplex for the win.

Winner: Tank

 While the winner of the SCI Rumble is typically the first entrant in the main SCI tournament in July…The Reverend announces Tank as the first entrant. Scott Hensley isn’t going to argue that. Tank is in and Rev says this is the year of the goat. 

Match 5: Adam Priest vs Derek Neal

Hard hitting Southern wrestling war between two hard hitting tough SOB’s. This was a blast to watch. Derek crashes and burns in the corner and Priest puts him down with that short DDT for the win.

Winner: Adam Priest

Match 6: Krule(c) vs Arik Royal (No DQ for the IWTV Independent Wrestling Championship)

Royal has never beaten Krule….but he has beaten a man named Logan Creed. Krule seems to have a lot of Royal’s offense scouted….maybe there’s a shred of the man he used to be still left under that mask. Acegawd staying on the attack, lot of big shots but Krule is really just briefly stunned by a lot of this. Krule goes Scorched Earth, Royal kicks him in the junk AND POWERBOMBS HIM. That isn’t enough. Royal hits the Kobe…..nope. kick out. Krule with a choke slam as Adam Priest runs into the ring and sets up a table. Priest has been trying to cost Krule….but the monster just sends him through table. Royal with a super Kobe!!!! Kick out. Sit up. Scorched Earth. 1 2 3. Who stops the monster?

Winner: Krule

 They announce Paul London as an official entrant in the SCI Tournament. <remembers Wrestival - shudders> Seriously, I don’t think I’m EVER getting over that. 

Main Event: The SCI Rumble

The winner is entered into the Scenic City Invitation in July. They even get to pick their first round opponent from the available field. 

1: Nick Iggy - he spends a lot time annoying the audience before the match even starts.

2: Landon Hale - Landon is beat up a little from the opener but he’s ready to fight. Good high energy start as Landon is flipping around. 

3: Damon Striker - Another high energy competitor. Landon spiked with a ddt. Spinning head kick to Iggy. Hale keeps skinning the cat

4: Joey Hyder - He hits the ring and starts hitting huge bombs to own the ring. He tries to suplex Iggy out of the ring. 

5: Kasey Owens - He comes out with Suge D and Kevin Ryan. Instantly Sus. Owens cannonballs Hale

6: Andres Reyes - Reyes just throwing some big shots. This ring is filling up.

7: Rob Kiljoy - Great fire opening this up. Hale is just working with everyone and having. I like that

8: MORTAR - YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Mortar throwing hands. Everyone getting tossed around! Good crossbow to Hale. NO ONE IS OUT YET.

9: Lucas Chase - We have another person from Wrestling Open making their debut. Chase goes right for Mortar. Striker sent flying as Chase and Mortar decide to work together. 

10: Kenny Kalix - Slight dude but he comes right in and hits a rolling DVD. Hale hits a destroyer on him! 

11: Luminary - Reyes and Hale get tossed as Luminary hits the ring.

12: Anakin Murphy - Great start here. Mortar and Chase’s alliance is still hanging on. 

13: Skunk the Sound Man - What? He’s in and RIGHT OUT. 

14: Trey Havoc - It’s big man time. CRAZY single arm slam to Kiljoy

15: The Wall - Suge D comes out to bring his Good Hand monster into the Rumble. Luminary clotheslined off the apron. Hider booted off the apron. Iggy tries to toss Wall but he gets choke slammed and eliminated.

16: J-Villa - Luminary, Hider and Iggy are brawling with each other on the floor. They catch Kalix and put him back in the ring…..and he immediately gets tossed again.

17: Kody Manhorn - Kody is throwing headbutts for everyone. Wall with a huge fallaway slam.

18: Victor Analog - He wears a TV on his head. Havoc tossed by Killjoy. Mortar is out of the ring but not out of the match. He’s just hanging out in the first row. He’s back in and sent right out. 

19: Josh Locke - Anakin makes quick work of him. Like….Locke lasted maybe 30 seconds. Owens tosses Anakin immediately and they’re both gone. 

20: Jay Alpha - He goes right for Kiljoy and tries to break his deathgrip on the bottom rope.

21: Some guy? Is he a teacher? He grabs a microphone and talks some trash and doesn’t like…get in the ring. There’s a match going on. He starts throwing soap and mouthwash into the crowd. Who is this knucklehead? He gets done yelling at the children and throwing books at him and finally gets in the ring. Are they calling him the buttercream dream? Did he eliminate someone? J-Villa? I hear this guy is a comic. Overlays and title cards would be helpful as hell in a show like this. (I am told his name was Correy Forrester. He’s the guy from the poster! Lol.)

22: Erron Wade - Killjoy tosses the comic. Bye. Wade is taking his TIME. Erron Wade isn’t even in the ring before they start counting down the next entrant.

23: Saraya Saber - Saber tossed Wade INTO the rumble! Chase tossed. Saber has Wall down in the corner and throwing boots.

24: Bojack - hellllll yeah. Everyone tries to attack Bojack. Bojack starts destroying people. Analog is out. Wall gets in BoJack’s face and it’s a Kaiju fight. 

25: Cody Fluffman - Steamrolls Alpha! Steamrolls Erron. Steamrolls for everyone! Wall boots Fluff down. Bojack clotheslines Wall out! Suge is shocked!

26: Dylan Crossley - Crossley going all out. I’m loving this fire spot. He plants Bojack with a tornado ddt!

27: Justin Kindred Allen - Jay Alpha goes flying. Fluffman and Bojack shake as they start their fight….Fluffman pulls the rope and Bojack flies over and out! Squatting Dragons double eliminate Saber

28: Lutha X - LUTHA X IS BACK!!! It’s been a WHILE since he’s been around. Lutha working the field. 

29: Sean Legacy - Big power right out the gate. Huge press slam of Kody onto Wade. High angle jumping cutter to Allen. FLuffman helps toss him

30: Diego Hill - Welllllll now. Hill flies in and crashes into a pile of humans. Hill kicks Crosley off the apron. Buff & Fluff get into the center with Squatting Dragons. Big team brawl. Lutha tries to toss Manhorn but it’s reversed and X goes flying. Kiljoy hits a discus punch and drops Legacy off the apron. Owens eats a stunner from Hill. They battle to the apron…Suge and Ryan pull the leg and Hill eats post and hits the ground. He’s out. Wade with a huge headkick and Fluffman goes out. Kody trying to get on the same page with Wade. Owens gets in his head and tosses Kody. Killjoy tosses Owens. The Good Hand tries to save him but Wade kicks them over.

It’s down to Rob Kiljoy and Erron Wade! Wade kicking the legs out from the Ugly Duckling. Fireman’s carry gut buster. They slow fight to the apron. Trading hands. Close calls with their footing and balance as each hit takes its toll. They both wide up hanging from their feet and trading chops from upside down. Back into the ring….Rob stunned with a tornado kick. Rob throwing hands. Wade landing hard kicks. Double clothesline double down. Kiljoy tries a slingshot…Wade kicks free but eats a rebound German! Rob tries a clothesline…Wade ducks and blasts Rob over the top rope to the floor!

Winner: Erron Wade
