It is Saturday and AEW Collision is live at the Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, MO. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Kevin Kelly, and Nigel McGuinness.
Sammy Guevara vs Powerhouse Hobbs — No DQ, Don Callis Family barred from ringside.
Sammy starts with quick moves on Hobbs in the corners and then leaps onto Hobbs on the floor. Sammy sets up the steel steps, and Hobs tries to whip him into the steps, but Sammy vaults over them and then leaps off of them into Hobbs arms, and Hobbs hits a slam on the steps. Hobbs slams Sammy on the apron and then onto the floor. Hobbs takes exception with Kevin Kelly and asks for his belt. Hobbs then starts whipping Sammy with Kevin’s belt. Sammy steals the belt and lays in a few blows and then goes after Hobbs with a chair.
Hobbs gets a cutter on the steel steps and grabs the belt again. Sammy then sets up a pair of tables. Sammy goes to the top and leaps in Hobbs arms and Hobbs him through the tables as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Hobbs misses a splash in the corner, and Sammy gets a GTH for two. Sammy then grabs a monitor and nails Hobbs with it. Sammy pulls out another table and slides it in the ring. Hobbs turns Sammy inside out with a clothesline. Hobbs sets up the table as Sammy recovers. Sammy gets a thrust kick, goes to the top and gets caught and slammed by Hobbs for two.
Hobbs gets a running boot, and Hobbs goes to pull a table from under the ring. Hobbs sets it up at ringside. He sets up a second and Sammy grabs a beer bottle and nails Hobbs with it. He gets another from the crowd and does it again. Sammy then grabs a ladder from under the ring and sets it up in the ring. Sammy goes to the top and it’s a moonsault into Hobbs.
Sammy rolls Hobbs into the ring and sets up the table in the ring again. Sammy beats him onto the table and then goes to the top turnbuckle. Hobbs knocks the referee into Sammy. Hobbs goes to the top and it’s the world’s strongest slam from the second turnbuckle for the pin and the win.
Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs
Let me see if I got this right. Sammy goes off a 10-foot ladder in the ring onto Hobbs on tables on the floor and Hobbs still wins? I am used to suspending my disbelief, but this is a bit much for me. Thank goodness FTR is up next.
In the back, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli are ready to talk, Mox tells a story about how Claudio walked twenty miles to the gym for his first training session in the US. Mox says he is a sprinter and Claudio runs a marathon. He hates that they had a time limit draw and they are pissed off about it, so they will be taking on FTR at Revolution. Claudio says FTR looks to the past and they look to the future.
FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs Lee Moriarty and Shane Taylor
Dax and Lee start off, and they lock up and quickly move to a side headlock where Lee shoots Dax off to the corner. Cash tags in and he locks up with Lee and they move to arm bars and Lee getting a crucifix rollup for two. Lee goes to his corner to beg off. They run the ropes and Cash gets a back elbow followed by a hip toss. Dax tags in and drops an elbow. Lee shoves Dax into his corner and tags in Taylor.
Taylor and Dax run the ropes and Dax can’t knock Taylor down. Dax gets a shotgun drop-kick and Taylor misses the elbow drop. Taylor instead gets a short arm clothesline and brings Dax to his corner for Lee to take over. They trade chops and Taylor gets a blind tag and runs into Dax, knocking him to the mat and covering for two as we go picture in picture.
When they return to full screen, we hear someone yelling “We’re back! We’re back! We’re Back!” and Shane has Dax in a bear hug, but Dax escapes and gets a back suplex for two. Lee tags in to run the ropes and Lee sets too soon so Dax gets a cradle for two. Lee gets a crucifix grip and Taylor hits Dax with a rising knee. Taylor gets a slam and goes to the top, but misses a splash, so both men struggle to their corner. Cash and Lee both tag in and Cash cleans house.
Shane stops him with a blow from the apron and Lee gets a quick roll up for two. Cash runs to his corner for an up and over and Dax gets a blind tag. They hit the doomsday device on Lee for the pin and the win.
Winners: FTR
Cash says that Mox told people to step up or get stepped on, and they are like cockroaches and it takes more than a step to kill them. Cash says if they have anything else to say, they will be here all night. Dax says this is about the past and for five years, Mox has been the King. He has seen people drop their eyes, but they don’t drop their eyes, and to be the king you need to kill the king.
We then get a video package for Bryan Danielson vs Jun Akiyama.
Thunder Rosa vs The Already In The Ring Lady Bird Monroe
Rosa and Monroe trade arm bars until Rosa starts getting chops and strikes. After Monroe gets a couple of good strikes, Rosa hits a drop-kick and follows with a Tijuana Bomb for the pin and the win.
Winner: Thunder Rosa
In the back Renee Paquette with Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, and Stokely Hathaway and Renee asks about what Julia Hart and Skye Blue said about challenging them. Stokley fires off a bunch of stuff about how he may have made a mistake antagonizing them, but Statlander says bring it on.
Jay White, Billy Gunn, and Colton Gunn vs Bronson, Boulder, and Jacked Jameson
Max Caster messes up his rap on his way to the ring and just gives up on the last few lines.
Billy starts with Boulder and they charge at each other. Billy gets an eye poke, but Boulder drops him. Bronson is tagged in and Billy knocks them into each other. Colton tags in and charges at Bronson, who dodges the charge and Colton goes over the top to the floor. Colton is slammed face-first into the apron and then rolled into the ring for a one count. Bronson hits snake eyes on the top turnbuckle and the Iron savages work him over with quick tags.
Colton finally gets the hot tag to White, who runs wild. White gets a blade runner after the other members of the Iron Savages are taken out by Billy and Colton for the pin and the win.
Winners: Jay White, Billy Gunn, and Colton Gunn
Lexi Nair is with Bryan Danielson and he says that Yu Akiyama is a legend and Eddie Kingston loves him, and Eddie has to watch him beat Akiyama. Bryan says he doesn't respect Eddie and mocks Kingston’s promos. He then says Eddie has wasted his potential. Not only does he not respect him, his wasted potential pissed Bryan off.
Malakai Black vs Bryan Keith
I like Bryan Keith, and not just because he wears the Good the Bad and the Ugly poncho as part of his ring gear.
They lock up and mat wrestle until they break with no one getting an advantage. They run the ropes and Keith gets a big boot. He then gets a series of chops and kicks, and hits a snap suplex and a knee for a two count. Keith gets a double underhook, but Black escapes out the back and he and Ketih fight on the apron, and Black hits a straight kick as we go picture in picture.
When they return to full screen, they are throwing hands and Keith gets a series of clotheslines and an exploder suplex. Keith gets a neck breaker for two. Keith gets a double underhook but his knee gives out when lifting. Keith is able to get a rope assisted spinning DDT. Both men struggle to get up but are both up at 6. They trade kicks and strikes. And Black gets a leg sweep and then a pump kick into the corner. Black goes to the top and Keith gets a rising headbutt. They struggle on the top and Keith is knocked down.
Black gets a double stomp from the top, a pump kick, a rising knee strike and a German suplex for two. Black misses a spinning heel kick and Keith gets a Liger bomb for two. Kieth then runs into a spinning heel kick and Black covers for the pin and the win.
Winner: Malakai Black
The lights go out and when they come back on Mark Briscoe is in the ring with a Kendo stick. Buddy Murphy and Brody King run to the ring and Mark takes them out and pulls out a steel spike. Mark misses with the spike and the House of Black takes him out with Dante’s Inferno.
Serena Deeb vs Lady Frost
They lock up and Deeb grabs an arm bar and Frost gets a trip for one count. Deeb gets a straightjacket lock and Frost reverses it. We are told Keira Hogan was originally scheduled and Frost stepped in at the last minute. Deeb reverses it back and pulls back to have Frost on her knees. Deeb gets an arm drag, but Frost is able to get a kick out of the corner and a drop-kick into Deeb. Deeb gets a shoulder tackle and leg whip into a modified figure four.
Frost gets to the ropes for a break as we go picture in picture. When we return to full screen, Deeb hits a dragon screw on Frost. Deeb lays in a series of blows and Frost gets a kick. They run the ropes and Deeb hits a lariat. Deeb gets a neckbreaker in the ropes. Deeb gets the swinging neckbreaker for two. Frost reverses a backdrop and lays in a kick on Deeb. Deeb gets a chiller driller for two Frost misses a spinning heel kick and Deeb gets a short arm clothesline and grabs a single leg Boston Crab, and Frost has to tap out.
Winner: Serena Deeb
Deeb grabs a mic and says she doesn’t have any gimmicks, she is here to wrestle and put the wrestling in All Elite Wrestling.
Bryan Danielson vs Jun Akiyama
Eddie Kingston joins commentary.
They let the crowd drink it in before they hook up. It also takes time before they finally hook up with a greco roman knuckle lock and then Bryan grabs a leg to take Jundown. Junworks to his feet and Bryan shoves them into the ropes and Bryan breaks clean. They lock up collar and elbow and Jungets a side headlock. Junthen drops Bryan with a series of shoulder tackles, and Bryan trips Jun and goes for the surfboard. Junblocks it and Byran slams his knees into the mat and then goes to work on Jun’s legs.
Jun is able to get a cross arm breaker on Bryan, and Bryan rolls through and goes back to the legs with a Muta lock. Jun gouges the eyes and breaks free. Jun gets a few kicks and then works over the same arm he’s been working on all match. Jun drops Bryan and gets a pair of knees into the back, and then gets a hammer lock as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Bryan gets a suplex on the floor after kneeing Jun in the head. Bryan then gets a flying knee off the apron. Jun is rolled into the ring and Bryan gets a shotgun drop kick from the top. Bryan gets two running kicks in the corner and Jun cuts him off with a running clothesline. Bryan is able to get the Labell lock and Jun gets to the ropes for a break.
Bryan goes to the top and Jun meets him there and Bryan headbutts him down. Bryan leaps into a knee strike and Jun hits a pile driver for two. Jun gets a series of knee strikes but when he runs at Bryan, Bryan grabs a foot and rolls into an ankle lock. Jun gets to his feet and Bryan hits a German suplex. Bryan gets the Yes kicks. Jun catches a foot and hits an exploder suplex for two. Jun gets a guillotine choke, but can’t hook his hands together so Brryan is able to get to the ropes.
Jun gets a knee left and Bryan gets a kick and a German suplex. Jun gets an exploder and a knee strike and both men are down.
This is a great match. Go out of your way to watch this one.
Both men struggle to thyme corners and are up and 7. They charge at each other and both try the Psycho knee into each other. Jun is up first and they throw hands at one another. Jun wins the exchange and Bryan crumples to the mat. Jun tries for an exploder and Bryan blocks it, hitting Jun with a knee. Bryan hits the psycho knee and covers for the pin and the win.
Winner: Bryan Danielson
Bryan and Jun shake hands and then Bryan walks over to flip the bird at Eddie. Jun slaps Bryan and Bryan tries to calm him down. The crowd is chanting for Eddie and Bryan nails Jun with a low blow. Eddie hits the ring and they brawl. Claudio runs to the ring, and FTR soon joins them. FTR clear Bryan and Claudio out of the ring and stand tall with Eddie and Jun.
