OSPREAY'S INDEPENDENT FAREWELL VS. MICHAEL OKU: 2/18 REV PRO REPORT FROM LONDON

By Mark David Bradshaw on 2024-02-19 16:46:00

I was front row for the UK based RevPro live show in London last night so thought you’d like results, as this was the send off for Will Ospreay before going full time with AEW. Also surprise appearance from Orange Cassidy & Tony Khan & Darby Allin watching the main event live in a box.

Also only had one pint as was driving so excuse to not support PWInsider!

Opening match was a scramble match - with Flash Morgan Webster, Shigehiro Irie, Cameron Khai, Spike Trivet, Sha Samuels, and Richard Holliday. However surprise entry was AEW Orange Cassidy! Crowd went wild as you’d expect. Short ok match with Cassidy going over & the crowd loving the surprise. Cassidy surprise makes sense as he was in London promoting All In at Wembley over the weekend.

Next match was Dani Luna defeating Safire Reed. Enjoyable womens match with Luna, reigning champion, taking the W.

Next Young Bloods (Oskar Leube & Yuto Nakashima) over Mark Trew & Kieron Lacey. Fun match with Young Bloods a unique team & ones to watch.

Luke Jacobs defeated JJ Gale - hard hitting & a very solid match. I’d seen Jacobs face Ishii before so knew he could go. However JJ Gale was great too. Post match interview Jacobs declared he’ll be the mvp of the promotion & gunning for the championship.

Next Mustafi Ali making his company debut defeated Robbie X. Another decent match with Ali getting the win & post match putting over Robbie X on mic.

Then Shingo Takagi defeated Trent Seven (replacing the injured Gabe Kidd). I’m a fan of both wrestlers, but not sure if the crowd was getting tired or if they didn’t click for me personally, but didn’t seem to flow. Still enjoyable though but I expected more.

Anthony Ogogo then defeated Ricky Knight Jr with a punch variation. Ogogo was one of the few true heels on the whole show the crowd boo’ed so be interesting to see his development as he clearly has a great look.

Zack Sabre Jr defeated Connor Mills in a ZSR style match. A lot of technical wrestling & holds, but very physical & some of the hardest slaps I’ve seen live. Different style to other matches but went down well with the crowd.

Main event was UK champion Michael Oku defeating Will Ospreay. Definitely one of the best matches I’ve seen live & definitely worth watching. Very gripping with men juicing. The result was predicable but they drew the whole crowd in for numerous false finishes, manger bump etc. I’ve seen someone report this as 47 minutes which wouldn’t surprised me, but went super fast with the crowd on their feet several times. Brilliant match with a hot, hot, hot crowd!

Post show Will thanked the fans with Tony khan watching live in the building & Will put on an AEW jacket saying if you thought the last 8 years was something see what he does in AEW. Tony Khan, along with Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy & some others watched the main event in a box.

Considering RevPro past worked with AEW for August show last year over All in Weekend  (Skye Blue mystery opponent in match & Jericho attaching Opsreay) I suspect we’ll see Ospreay in a RevPro show in the future as didn’t feel a goodbye from him.

Overall fun show with an epic main event - RevPro consistently puts on solid shows & blends named talent with emerging stars, so a company to follow & support in the UK.
