THREE POTENTIAL STORYLINES FOR WRESTLEMANIA XL

By Kendall Jenkins on 2024-02-14 11:42:00

This year’s WrestleMania celebrates its 40th anniversary and it is set to be a huge two-day event at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Here is a look at some potential storylines and how they may unfold at “The Greatest Stage of Them All”.

Bayley vs Rhea Ripley

Bayley is considered one of the greatest women’s champions in WWE history, with three spells as either the Raw or Smackdown champion. After winning the women’s Royal Rumble event in 2024, she will get another opportunity to compete for one of the two major belts at WrestleMania XL.

It would be no surprise if Bayley opted to fight for the Women’s World Championship, currently held by Rhea Ripley. The champion will face Nia Jax in her latest defence, and she is currently priced at 1/18 in the betting UK market for that contest. Those odds suggest she is a strong favourite to still have her belt going into WrestleMania.

The best betting guides will explain how the odds work in WWE betting and how you can place a bet. Should Ripley beat Jax, and then be booked to face Bayley, you can find odds on this huge showdown ahead of the event in Philadelphia.

Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes

When Cody Rhodes lost to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, he said he had unfinished business. He will get the chance to live up to his words with another shot at the undisputed WWE champion at WrestleMania XL.

Rhodes is hoping to achieve what his father Dusty Rhodes was never able to do in the WWE and win the biggest belt in the organisation. He eliminated CM Punk at the 2024 Royal Rumble, winning the match for the second consecutive year. That has earned him another ticket for the main event at the pay-per-view event.

Reigns is now the fourth longest-serving WWE world champion in history. He has held the belt for well over 1,000 days now. This could be the time his spell as the champion comes to an end and Rhodes would be a deserving winner.

The Rock Could Make Yet Another WrestleMania Appearance

WWE legend The Rock has been part of some of the greatest WrestleMania matches in history. He has been involved in five main events, with his most recent coming at WrestleMania 29 when he defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship.

There is no obvious opponent for The Rock this year. Some rumours have indicated he will face either Reigns, CM Punk or Brock Lesner, but all three of those options look over. Reigns is on course to take on Rhodes and the other two men are expected to be out of action for a while.

The Rock has already appeared on Raw this year, and now he is on the board of TKO, he may be willing to appear in Philadelphia to help boost the event. There is still time for the “Great One” to form a storyline on either Raw or Smackdown,

WrestleMania XL takes place between 6-7 April. It'll be the first WrestleMania since the WWE was sold to Endeavour.
