Spotlight Match: Cameron Cole vs Will Allday

Lauren St. James is taking announcing duties for this opening. I like spotlight matches with completely new humans. I may not know them but this is their chance to show off. I heard there was a tryout earlier today so I have to assume this is a product of that. Will has some good flashy acrobatics but Cam is a bit of a cocky bruiser. Great disaster kick off the buckles. Cole eats a superkick to take the loss. Good start, crowd got behind Allday pretty easily.

Winner: Will Allday

I see Paul Crockett and Brother Greatness holding down the commentary station. Rich Palladino is your announcer. We kick off the single elimination portion of the Jumbo Grand Prix with all four quarterfinal matches!

Match 1: TJ Crawford vs Bobby Orlando (JGP Quarterfinals)

TJ is leaning into the “big bread”  moniker by bringing a whole French bread to the ring. He doesn’t eat the bread. That tracks. Eating bread is what CHAMPIONS do. The crowd is alllll over TJ. Bobby says TJ is gonna be TOAST. Dusty punches, TJ punked and eats a cutter. TJ with a reversal and starts beating up our mom. Huge cracking chop. Bobby with a dodge and backslide for two. Backcracker! TJ with an Olympic style flapjack and a running boot to the back of the head! TJ with a backbreaker dodge on the sick trick cutter. Big slam but TJ is BIG MAD right now and is laying some hard kicks into Orlando’s chest. Orlando baits him to the floor…suicide dive! He tries to follow up with a dive but TJ hits the ropes. Bobby fights off the superplex….sunsetflip bomb! Sick trick cutter for a very close two! Hell yeah this is an opener! Ref Tyler gets briefly shoved into the corner, allowing TJ to hit a shot to the throat. Before the ref can take in what just happened, TJ hits a spinning back kick and puts mom down for the three.

Winner: TJ Crawford

Match 2: Griffin McCoy vs Aaron Rourke

Welcome back to the Dimepiece, Aaron Rourke. McCoy says it’s top guy time and he’s here to spoil the return. Hard slap for Rourke, who has been slapping his a** in Griffin’s general direction through his opener. Rourke with a slick escape from a pin and gives Griffin a smack for good measure. Sweep chokeslam! McCoy with a snap gutbuster and neckbreaker for two. Rourke fights off a backslide. Hard kick but he gets trapped in the ropes and McCoy gives it back 10 fold. Hangman’s double stomp off the top. Rourke throwing back elbows and boots as Griffin charges…Rourke with a corner boot and a flip cannonball! Great moonsault from Rourke for a definitive three count! Super hot crowd for this!

Winner: Aaron Rourke

Match 3: The Bratz (Paris Van Dale & Shannon LaVangie) vs Gnomecastle (Gabby Forza & Kennedi Hardcastle)

This level of retribution has been long in the waiting for Gnomecastle. The Bratz are getting mauled. This is lovely to see. A blindside to Kennedi puts the brakes on this good time. Bratz just double teaming and pushing the rules as close to the edge as they can. Paris accidentally boots Shannon in the face. Kennedi hits a page turner and gets to the corner! Tag! Forza running through Shannon. Huge powerslam but Paris breaks up the pin! Paris tossed…Kennedi goes for the finish but Paris trips her up. Shannon rakes the eyes and Gabby is blinded. She goes for a spear on Shannon but wipes out Kennedi. Shannon tosses gnomeburg out and steals the pin. Kennedi is MAD but Gabby assures her this was an accident. Good match but man, when will Kennedi get that feel good moment over the Bratz.

Winners: The Bratz

Match 4: Tyree Taylor (w/ Brother Greatness) vs Kylon King (JGP Quarterfinals)

Tyree has been on a tear of good matches as of late and this one could absolutely rule. Dustin Waller isn’t ringside but he’s close by at the merch table. Kylon is right on the heels of taking out the kingpin Brian Milonas but Tyree’s another level right now. Tyree flips free of the apron…catches a Rana and damn near sends this early. Kylon isn’t backing down and gets right in his face…and Taylor ragdolls him into the  corner. Corner spear. Huge toss across the ring and the IWTV tag champ is in deep trouble. Taylor just boots him in the ribs. Kylon fighting back, he WANTS to hit that German. Taylor with a ridiculous pounce and Kylon gets some insane air. Taylor with a hangman’s legdrop. This is brutal but this crowd is loving this. Kylon is bumping like a machine tonight. This is great. Taylor sets up another spear but Kylon is ready this time…huge belly to belly suplex!!!! Kylon got the big man off his feet! Lariat bowls Tyree over! Suicide dive! Huge placha to the floor! Kylon to the top, Taylor with a enziguri…uranage for two! Kylon rebounds Tyree and hits the German!!!! Tyree eats a brain bussstah!!!!! Top rope splash! Tyree rolls away from moonsault. A lariat turns Kylon inside out! Brooklyn Zoo bomb ends the match. Holy f***. This was something special, y’all. 

Winner: Tyree Taylor

Tyree offers a handshake like last week. Kylon mistrusts it but shakes and leaves Tyree to take in the glory. Brother Greatness is in here and puts over Kylon hard…but his man Tyree, the linebacker of praise, showed out tonight. BG offers his assistance to Ichiban once again…and the former Open champ is out here to see what he has to say. BG assures Ichiban that all they want to help Ichiban believe in himself again. This is bizarre as the crowd is chanting for Ichiban to join the church??? Ichiban shakes Tyree’s hand and hugs Brother Greatness. I’m here for this but damn yall this is weird. lol.

Match 5: Dezmond Cole (w/ Pedro Dones) vs Brad Baylor (JGP Quarterfinals)

It’s worth noting that Ricky Smokes is NOT at ringside and that is sus. Brad is swiveling his hips and making eyes at some girls at ringside. Cole definitely using that distraction to his advantage. Brad catches Boofa and tosses him into a hot shot. Boofa chopping back, huge sunset flip pin for two! Brad with a snap powerslam for two! Baylor getting frustrated and resorting to just blatant chokes. Shotgun to the corner for two. Boofa with a reversal and back suplex creates some breathing room.  Baylor continuing to stomp out Boofa to the point where the ref is trying to get him to ease up. Boofa with a corner and a spinning head kick doesn’t keep him down. Superplex! Brain buster! Baylor is rocked and rolls to the outside! Flip to the floor from Cole! They get back in the ring and Baylor quickly rolls up Cole and uses a lot of rope for a lot of leverage and somehow ref Scott missed it and Boofa is out of the tournament. Nooooooo. This match was wild but holy hell the girls near us were thirsty AF for a taste of Brad. 

Winner: Brad Baylor

Match 6: Fancy Ryan Clancy vs Steven Stetson (JGP Quarterfinals)

This matchup has HISTORY. Stetsonnwith a slap and Fancy just pummels the hell out of him. Stetson landing some loud chops and clubbing blows. Clancy has clear hand prints on his flesh already. Clancy trying for a piledriver but Stetson backdrops him. We have some S***TALKERS in the crowd tonight. Tornado backbreaker as Stetson unloads a ranch sized beatdown. Clancy fights off a superplex….Stetson fights off a powerbomb. They suplex each other out of the ring in THAT spot that just looks so damn brutal from this angle. They both slow roll back in and duke it out…Stetson with a slap, Clancy blasts a pair of back drops. They fight over a tombstone…stetson goes for a stampede but turns into a high cross body for two! Clancy goes for the spelling chant…he takes too long and Stetson blocks the side Russian….powerbomb! Clancy kicks out! He ducks the jersey lariat! They are both bouncing off the ropes looking for the kill….Clancy blasts a dropkick in his face and Stetson is down for the three!!!!!!

Winner: Fancy Ryan Clancy

Main Event: Brick City (Victor Chase & Julio Cruz) & The Stetson Ranch (Hammer Tunis & Danny Miles vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball), Bryce Donovan and Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn)

The babyfaces starting very hot with the crowd completely amped up. The Business Ranch is having a hard time finding an opening until Miles manages to run Bryce into the buckles for a four on one assault. A quick turnaround as the entire hell crew wind up in the corner for a triple stack running stinger splash that popped the whole room. Miles gets Marbury down in the cluster of it all and the Branch just swarms on the young athlete. Quick escape and Waves & Curls start cleaning house! Julio tossed to the floor and he unties my shoe. Thanks, dude. I needed to tighten that one up. Back in the ring, we’ve gone full on brawls. It’s a chokeslam party!!!! Everyone is down and Steven Stetson hits the ring. Benny the Basketball is there to intercept! Ref Bill throws them both out! Waves and Curls are getting attacked by the KELLYS??? They get dragged into the back. Back in the ring, everyone is trying to finish it off.  Marbury with the stick and move! He picks the ankle of Cruz and lays back in the ankle lock to get the tap out!!!!! Wild finish!

Winners: Marbury, Donovan and Waves & Curls

Marbury on the mic. He calls out Brad Hollister and says he just wants one more shot. He’ll break his ankle. He’ll dunk on him. Marbury is ready. 

The energy tonight was UNREAL. This could have been a “rest” week, coming on the heels of last week’s Above the Rim….but tonight went really hard with a ton of great contests (ESPECIALLY Kylon vs Tyree - I will be watching that one back in particular) and a crowd that was on fire from the start. Sometimes the show doesn’t need a special name…it just needs that perfect storm to be truly wild. And that storm was tonight.
