AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

It is Friday and this week, AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, AZ.  Our commentary team is Excalibur, Matt Menard, and Tony Schiavone.

Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven vs Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero

Trent and Rocky attack Bennett and Taven on their way to the ring while Cassidy waits for Strong to get in the ring. Cassidy tosses his sunglasses at Strong and goes for an Orange Punch, and Strong bails. Bennett and Taven get in the ring and Cassidy, hands in his pockets, dropkicks them both. 

The ref takes control and makes everyone go to their corners and Adam Cole is wheeled by Wardlow to the ring. The bell rings and Bennett and Beretta are in the ring. Bennett works over Beretta in the corner, but when they move away, Beretta leaps, bringing Bennett down with a modified meteora. Rocky tags in and works over Bennett’s arm, but Bennett is able to reverse an arm snap and tags in Taven, who hits a drop-kick.

Beretta gets a blind tag and he and Rocky take down Taven with a kick and Beretta gets a two count. They run the ropes and Strong gets a blind tag and charges at Beretta, and runs into a pair of German suplexes. Beretta is whipped to the corner, and Bennett attacks him in the ref’s blind spot and Strong gets a back breaker. 

It’s now time for Beretta to be worked over with quick tags by Strong’s team. Beretta is able to get a tag to Cassidy, who runs wild. Cassidy takes out Bennett and Taven and glares across the ring at Strong until Bennett recovers and gets a spine buster. Everyone then gets a finisher on the last person in until all six men are down and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cassidy and Taven are on the top turnbuckle and Bennett pulls Cassidy down and hits a low blow. They then hit a pile driver on Cassidy and it’s dive time and EVERYONE gets a dive. Bennett and Taven hit a power bomb/Russian leg sweep combo on Beretta. Rocky tricks them into getting out of the ring and he rushes back into the ring to hit a drive on the two of them.  

Bennett is rolled into the ring and hits sliced bread. Rocky then gets a hurricanrana on Taven. Rocky gets a flying heel kick on Bennett and then gets his forever clotheslines. Strong stops him with a running knee, and the Kingdom hits Heartache for the pin and the win.

Winners: Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven

Wardlow tosses chairs into the ring and they are set up for a heartache onto the chairs. 

We then get a recap of the match between Adam Page and Swerve Strickland on Dynamite. 

The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) vs the Already in the ring Mondo Ross and Robbie Lit

The Bucks come out in their white suits, still stained with blood from Dynamite.

That was quick.  The Bucks win with a low blow followed by an EVP trigger.

Winners: The Young Bucks

After the match, the Bucks grab a mic and heel the crowd and demand respect. Matthew congratulates Darby and Sting for their victory. Matthew says that Darby and Sting are banged up and offer thoughts and prayers. They say their goal is to get their titles back and 

We then get a promo video for Orange Cassidy vs Tomohiro Ishii.

Mistico vs Matt Sydal

Crowd is cheering for Mistico before they lock up. 

They start with arm drags and his tosses with quick covers. They run the ropes and Sydal gets a tejaris takedown. Mistico does the same. Mistico gets a headbutt dive. Sydal gets a spinning leg lariat and then grabs a bow and arrow followed by a senton. He then sets for a standing moonsault with a twist for two. This leads into picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Sydal misses a leap, and they run the ropes. Mistico gets a series of kicks and then a rope walk into an arm drag. Mistico gets a tejaris and Sydal goes to the floor. Mistico gets a flip onto Sydal and both men are down. Sydal is rolled into the ring and then hits a cross body off the ropes for two. 

Matt blocks a tejaris and then hits a rising knee. Sydal gets a falcon arrow for two. They trade forearms in the middle of the ring, and Sydal gets a pair of leaping kicks. Mistico gets a slam and goes to the top. Mistico leaps and Sydal gets his feet up. Mistico gets a power slam and both men are down. 

They recover and go to the top, fighting all the way. Mistico is knocked down but he runs up and  gets a Spanish Fly front he top for the pin and the win. 

Winner: Mistico

Renee Paquette is with Brian Cage and Prince Nana, and Cage is upset that Hook hit him with a chair and then isn’t here on Rampage. Cage says beating two guys is no big deal, and he’ll do it tomorrow night. 

It’s time for the main event

Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale w/Stokely Hathaway vs Saraya and Ruby Soho w/Harley Cameron

Saraya and Statlander start off with arm bars and Statlander gets a side headlock takeover, with Saraya getting a head scissors reversal. Statlander escapes and hits a drop-kick. Saraya tries for a headlock takeover, and Statlander blocks it and turns it into a back body drop. 

Ruby tags in and runs directly into an arm drag. Willow tags in and takes over with the arm bar, Ruby tries for a tejaris, and Willow blocks it. Ruby breaks free with a series of knee strokes to Willow’s head. Willow gets a side Russian leg sweep and then grabs a crucifix submission. Ruby rolls Willow onto her back for two and Willow gives up the hold. Ruby is whipped to the corner with Willow getting a splash. Statlander tags in and hits a slam and a sliding clothesline. Willow grabbed a blind tag and does the same for two.

Willow gets a hip attack in the corner and then does the same in the opposite corner. Willow goes to the top and Harley grabs her leg, allowing Saraya to sweep the legs and Willow falls, hitting the back of her head on the top turnbuckle.  Nasty bump there. Ruby and Saraya argue as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Saraya and Ruby have been working over Willow with quick tags. Willow is able to get a big boot and both Ruby and Statlander are tagged in and Statlander cleans house. Ruby is able to get a big knee and Saraya gets into the ring for a double suplex, but Statlander fights them off as Willow runs in and is tossed from the ring. Saraya gets a running knee for two, Willow breaking it up.

Everyone gets to take someone else out, and it ends when Ruby holds Willow, and Willow dodges when Saraya attacks. Saraya and Ruby start arguing, Willow hits a double clothesline and Statlander follows up with a cover on Saraya for two.  Saraya and Statlander throw hands as they get to their feet, and Statlander gets a blue thunder bomb for two. Statlander gets one attack in the corner, but Saraya dodges the second then. Saraya gets a jawbreaker.  

Willow is tagged in and when Saraya goes for the tag, Ruby pulls her hand back and jumps off the apron. Harley tries to stop her and gets a roundhouse punch for her trouble. Ruby goes to the back and Willow gets a power bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale

Skye Blue comes out and as she gets to the ring, the lights go out. When they come back on, Julia Hart is by her side.
