Wrestling Open “Week 108”

1/25/24 Worcester, MA

The Jumbo Grand Prix continues tonight as we get closer to Beyond Wrestling weekend “Lights, Camera Wrestling” super show! Paul Crockett is MIA tonight. Denver Colorado and Sidney Bakabella are on the commentary mics tonight. Rich Palladino is our announcer. Let’s go!

Match 1: Love, Doug vs Ryan Clancy (JGP E Block)

Love Doug faces elimination tonight. No one escaped elimination last weeks let’s see if Doug can be the first to do so. Fun back and forth here, these two babyfaced know each others stuff pretty well so they have their counters and reversal goes going strong. Doug gets tagged and he’s bleeding from the nose. Running euro uppercut flattens Doug but he’s way too close to the rope to eat the three. Bakabella hates to see these guys fighting fairly with each other. Doug clearly wants to stay alive, he is laser focused on getting the W here. Fighting over finishes but Clancy counters the rebound into a standing dropkick and Doug drops one more time for the three and his exist from the JGP. They are a bit heated at the end but Doug gives Clancy a hug and leaves him to celebrate. 

WInner: Ryan Clancy (2 pts)

Match 2: Dan Barry vs Brad Baylor (JGP H Block)

Brad Baylor thinks he has an easy night, being against an “old washed up has-been” like Dan Barry, who face elimination. Dan uses the opening moments to just control this young gun. He’s chill. He’s relaxed. Baylor is going to school tonight. He finally catches his “teacher” with a shotgun dropkick to the corner and now it’s Dan’s time to take punishment. Dan turns on another gear and starts to take over again. He sets up for a top rope moonsault. Baylor dodges and rolls up Dan with a handful of trunks. Dan eats the three and is eliminated from the tournament! Noooooooooo!

Winner: Brad Baylor (2 pts)

Match 3: RJ Rude vs Kylon King (JGP G Block)

This match could be a blast. And it is. RJ faces elimination. RJ and Kylon do NOT go slow here. This is back and forth, hard hitting and exciting. Kylon with a chinlock break but RJ is out…and immediately eats a German. Kylon with a slingshot dropkick. “Are you ready for a flip?” That’s two moonsaults in a row that eat air. RJ firing back. Michnoku driver for two. RJ to the top but Kylon blasts a boot to the head. RJ escapes the superplex….sunset flip GTS! King kicks out! Kylon hits a poikonrana! Corkscrew brain buster! RJ kicks out! Rude with a knee to the face! He tries a lionsault but Kylon knees him out of the air! We are approaching the time limit. Rude blasting King with super kicks. Rude sent to the floor…suicide dive! Rude slignshot moonsaults to the floor! Kylon sent back in…he grabs RJ as Rude tries to gets into the ring and blasts a jumping tombstone seals the win for the IWTV tag champ! As for Rude, his time in the Grand Prix is over.

Winner: Kylon King (2 pts)

Match 4: Rex Lawless vs Gabriel Skye (JGP F Block)

Gabe Skye faces elimination. This is going to go hard. Rex wants to be the big bully but Gabe is being evasive and trying to take out the legs. Heavy shots to the head of Rex wake him up with a crazy inside out lariat. Rex doing big man stuff. Gabe is getting pummeled. Kick escape from a choke slam! Top rope shotgun dropkick sends Rex flying to the floor. Moonsault to the floor! Meteora! Kick out! Rex coming back with boots and a huge spear for two! Rex wants the choke bomb. Gabe fighting. Knee to the jaw! Rex boots Gabe off the top. He whiffs a rolling capo kick! Gabe tries a code red but doesn’t get all of it. Rex with an Alabama slam! Kick out! Rex takes Gabe to the corner in a fireman’s carry. Skye elbows free…but gets caught into a choke bomb off the top for the three! Rex wins! Gabe Skye’s shoulder looks ROUGH. 

Winner: Rex Lawless (2pts)

 Match 5: World Class Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs Bobby Orlando (JGP A Block)

Bakabella has words for a small child in the front row. It’s not uncommon for Sidney to try to fight children. This is normal. Bobby Orlando wants someone in his corner too. He gets that child into his corner as a manager. That child has no qualms about talking s*** to Sidney. Bakebella keeps accusing him of having weapons. Match wise, this is not a world class affair for Channing. He is getting beaten like like an egg. That child gives Channing the finger. Channing blasts a knee to the gut after escaping a sick trick cutter. Bakabella pulls the leg of Orlando. Channing tries the rollup with an assist but the ref catches it! Orlando reverses the leverage and gets a clean rollup pin on Channing Thomas! Bobby won the A Block! The crowd is chanting that Sidney made Channing lose. Thomas does not look thrilled…but they hug. Of course. 

Winner: Bobby Orlando (2 pts - A Block Winner)

Match 6: Dustin Waller vs Tyree Taylor (JGP C Block)

Tyree is without the guidance of Brother Greatness tonight but he is already at an advantage as Dustin Waller is very much in his own head over recent losses. Waller trying to fly early but Tyree catches him and just slams the heck out of him into the apron. Tyree playing the power game but Bakabella rightly compares him to Bam Bam Bigelow. Out of no where, Tyree kicks Dustin out of the air as he tries to fly out of harms way. This is a beating. Waller with a knee to the jaw as Tyree tries to ends things with a discus clotheslines. Dodge and Tyree eats buckle! Waller is firing up and landing hard chops but it may not be enough? He tries a mizline but Tyree just uranages him out of the corner! Waller still fighting though. Tyree getting caught with a series of super kicks. Dustin tries springing off the ropes but Tyree catches him and destroys with a Brooklyn Zoo bomb. This was a massacre. Dustin eats the pin and is out of the tournament. 

Winner: Tyree Taylor (2 pts)

Tyree grabs a steel chair and sets it up. He wants a word with Flash. Waller has nothing to be ashamed of. His future is bright. Tyree offers his hand…Dustin shakes and heads to the back. Tyree still has words because he’s fighting Santana at “Lights, Camera, Wrestling” and he is ready to take his spot and play spoiler to the returning beyond original.

Match 7: Gabby Forza (w/ Kennedi Hardcastle) vs Paris Van Dale (w/ Shannon Lavangie)

No one wants to hear Paris talk. Luckily, the audio mix isn’t great on the live mic tonight so I don’t really know what she’s saying. Hardcastle and Van Dale have a lot of bad blood but Gabby is here to avenge the tooth that Paris kicked out of her mouth. Paris is absolutely not in Gabby’s league, power-wise. But Paris is resourceful and willing to take short cuts to get what she needs. Paris with the advantage so she stomps, throws heavy shots and hits a bulldog on Forza. Gabby with a catch and fallaway slam on Paris. Vader bomb for two! Paris escapes the spear. She tries the kick that broke Gabby’s tooth….Gabby is ready and pulls her through the ropes. HUGE spear cuts Paris in half. Shannon pulls Paris to the floor and lets her friend take the count out loss rather than eat a three.

Winner: Gabby Forza (by countout)

Match 8: Dezmond Cole vs Ricky Smokes (JGP B Block)

This should be fun. Smokes does NOT want to hear Boofa firing up the crowd. His general dismay over the crowd being against him is great. Def with some LOUD cracking chops. Smokes does not like these or any of the dance based follow up that’s coming. Both guys targeting the arm. Huge kicks from Cole, he even catches Smokes trying to run in for a counter! Ricky with a spine buster and he is trying a Kimora lock. Boofa powers out with a suplex! Both guys getting close to the finish. Ricky with an upkick to the shoulder. High angle back drop for two! Boofa flips free of another, he locks up the legs and snags the win from Smokes! Boofa wins the B Block but Smokes is furious and attacks him after the bell. He grabs a chair. He looks to make a statement but Pedro Dones runs in to make the save. Dones is calling his shot….he is taking out Smokes!

Winner: Dezmond Cole (2 pts - B Block winner)

 Main Event: Big Business (Brick City & TJ Crawford) vs Waves & Curls & Jermaine Marbury

Big Business is looking to get one back for their leader, CEO and Wrestling Open Champion, Big Bacon Brad Hollister (who is out due to a jaw injury sustained at the hands of Jermaine Marbury a couple weeks ago). The baby faces start strong, how could they not? It’s a lot of good feels and goofs and dancing and just generally making Worcester happy by punching the daylights out of the Business Boys. German picks up the alley top on an outside dive and does a confetti popper with W&C. BB finally isolates Marbury and takes advantage of the relatively green competitor in as much 3 on 1 beating that they can. He escapes a suplex to tag Traevon, who runs wild and ALMOST wins the match single handed. Chase and Traevon trading shots in the center, THESE TEAMS have so much history. TJ sacrifices himself but that opens up Chase to blast Jordan with a headbutt. Julio with the saito suplex. Marbury trying to pick it up….he eats a spinning head kick! Marbury heads to the top and BENNY THE BASKETBALL SHOVES HIM OFF THE TOP! He rips off the costume, it’s Brad Hollister under the mascot outfit! The Wrestling Open champion attacks his incoming challenge, drawing the DQ. 

Winners: Marbury and Waves & Curls (by DQ)

 Big Business holds Marbury back as Bacon welcomes Marbury to the big leagues by accepting his challenge for next week….and putting him down with a tornado jackhammer as Big Business celebrates while we go off the air. Can Marbury pull off the upset of a lifetime at “Above the Rim”?
