Sean O'Malley vs. Marlon Vera II
When it comes to MMA fights, it's hard to think of a rematch with such wildly different circumstances as this one. The first time and Marlon Vera fought, they were a late addition to the UFC 252 card, and were nowhere near title contention. Now, O’Malley is looking to defend his bantamweight title against Vera, and avenge the only loss of his professional career so far.
Known as one of the best knockout punchers in the sport today, O’Malley is set to make this title fight with Vera a massive draw and fully deserving of the headliner at UFC 299 in March.
Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic
They might both be at the twilight of their careers, but it’s always a sight to behold when two legendary fighters go head to head like this. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic are both already bound for the hall of fame, but the two have enough gas left in the tank to give us one more iconic bout for the UFC heavyweight championship. They are both considered as top 10 UFC fighters of all time.
The two were actually supposed to fight in November of last year, but Jones sadly tore his pectoral tendon while training for the bout. While a rescheduled date has not been officially announced, Dana White has teased that Jones’s recovery is going well, and a summer fight might be on the cards.
Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler
And, of course, you can’t talk about the most highly anticipated fights of 2024 without discussing the most hyped return to UFC in recent memory. Conor McGregor suffered a brutal broken tibia against Dustin Poreir the last time he was in the ring but now, the former simultaneous featherweight and lightweight champion is set to make his triumphant return to the Octagon.
The whole fighting world is curious to see how McGregor will look in his comeback, and facing a three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion in Chandler will certainly be no easy task after taking more than two years off.
Overall, 2024 is set to be a massive year for MMA. Filled with multiple high-anticipated title fights, the return of a legend, and plenty of other high-profile bouts to look forward to, this could be a massive year for the UFC both in terms of revenue and drawing new fans into the sport. No matter who wins these fights, we’re hyped for what’s sure to be an exciting 365 days of fighting.
