Quite simply: Can Vince McMahon return? We've seen it before in which he somehow had the power to get back in. Can it be done again? Or is he done?
I don’t speak in absolutes as a rule, and I won’t do so here. But, I am 99.9% sure that Vince will never stain WWE with his presence in a position of power ever again. His one chance to hang on was to refuse to resign from the Board. Once he tendered his resignation, unless there is some kind of deal in place where he could come back down the road (which I doubt), he doesn’t have the power to force himself back into the company. When he had control of the stock, he could do that, and of course did. He doesn’t have that power any longer.
Did you have any inside information that Slim Jim was going to pull their WWE advertising? You seemed to know something in the columns that you wrote.
I did not have any inside information. I just had a strong feeling that being aligned with McMahon would cause companies to distance themselves from WWE. It was pretty obvious to me that it was happen. Big companies don’t want to be aligned with a deviant.
Do you know how the recent allegations involving John Laurinaitis have affected the lives of the Bellas, and in particularly their mother, who is married to him? Do you expect them to make any statements on the matter?
I do not. I feel badly for all three of them that they are being subjected to this. It’s lurid and disgusting. I hope they come out of it OK.
Do you think Tony Khan will have a Twitter-take on all this Vince stuff or he’ll surprisingly take the high road and sit it out?
I hope he stays completely out of it. There is nothing positive that would come from him making any kind of comment. It’s not his issue so he is best served staying out of it in my opinion.
Since returning to wrestling, CM Punk has been a staunch advocate for women’s rights and female empowerment. Just look at the T-Shirts he wore when AEW was in Texas. After the latest bombshell scandal involving Vince McMahon, do Punk’s views make him an even more valuable asset for WWE and TKO?
You could definitely make that case. I think the most important thing though was for TKO to find a way to divorce themselves from Vince and I am glad that Slim Jim wasted no time in showing Vince and TKO what a detriment having him on the Board will be.
