RICH SWANN VS. JOE HENDRY & MORE: TNA XPLOSION ON TNA+ REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2024-01-26 16:39:00

Welcome to the TNA Xplosion on TNA+ Report!

We are in Las Vegas.  Tom Hannifan and Gia Miller are the announcers for the first Xplosion episode in three years.

Rhino vs. Mahabali Shera

They locked up but neither got the advantage.  Shera muscled Rhino into the corner and shoved him several times.  Rhino shoved him back.  The crowd chanted for Rhino.  Rhino shoulderblocked him down.  Shera backed up into the ropes.  They went to lock up again but this time, Shera kicked him.  Rhino fired back with chops.

Shera went to the floor, arguing with the fans.  Rhino fired and nailed a series of right hands and a hard chop on the floor.  Rhino missed a charge and clotheslined the ring post.  Shera worked over Rhino as they went to commercial.  When they returned, Rhino was being stomped in the corner and choked against the ropes.  He whipped Rhino across the ring and nailed several clotheslines in the corner for a two count.

Shera went to come off the ropes but was booted as he came down.  Rhino was cut off with a clothesline, so he was unable to get much momentum going.  Shera locked on a bearhug to wear down Rhino.     Rhino's arm dropped twice but he came back to life and attacked.

Rhino worked over Shera.  Shera reversed a whip and sent him into the buckles but missed a charge.  Rhino cut him off with a Gore and scored the pin.

Your winner, Rhino!

Match was OK, power vs. power slugfest.

They did a "You've Got To Be Kidding Me" Don West tribute looking at their top trending topics.  I love that they included Don West here.  He was the best and whoever had this idea should be commended.

They showed highlights of a classic Rich Swann vs. Josh Alexander No Surrender PPV bout.

Gia Miller interviewed Ace Austin in a segment called "Round the Ring" where he was about random topics.  It was a fun, off the cuff little segment.

They showed Nic Nemeth's first promo from TNA Impact last week.

Joe Hendry vs. Rich Swann

Hendry knocked AJ Francis on the mic early.

Swann and Hendry went back and forth with some good action early on.  Hendry was kicked off as he went for several charges.  Swann hit a leaping clothesline.  The crowd chanted for Swann.  Swann went for a rana and used it to send Hendry to the floor.  Swann went for a pescado but Hendry walked away.  Swann landed on the apron but slipped and hurt his knee.  Hendry nailed him and went back to the ring.

Swann returned as well but was caught with a cutter.  Hendry clotheslined him in the corner.  Swann was whipped across but kicked Hendry away.  He went to the ropes but Hendry caught him and nailed a Fall Away Slam.  Swann caught him with a handspring cutter for a two count.  Swann went to the top for the Phoenix Splash but he knee gave out and Swann crashed into the ring.  Swann refused to forfeit the bout and said he could continue.  Hendry nailed the Standing Ovation and scored the pin.

Your winner, Joe Hendry!

Good bout with the story being that Swann's knee cost him the chance to win.

Overall, an easy 45 minute show.
