While this is not a pro wrestling story, it's certainly just a step removed for anyone who has visited South Philadelphia for the 2300 Arena over the years and ate at Tony Luke's. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported yesterday that Anthony Lucidonio Sr. (Tony Luke Sr.) and son Nicholas Lucidonio were sentenced to nearly two years in prison each Thursday on tax fraud charges. The paid had been running the legendary Oregon Avenue location with two sets of books, which was revealed when a family feud involving Anthony Lucidonio Jr. (Tony Luke Jr.) led to the books being extricated and handed over to the authorities. There's been heat between the two sides for a long time as Luke Jr. owns the rights to the Tony Lukes name, which led to the Oregon Avenue location (the original stand) being forced to remove the Tony Luke name. Luke Sr. and Nicholas have asked if they can do their prison terms back to back, not at the same time, arguing that if they cannot run the location, it will go out of business and 24 employees will be out of a job. As it turns out, the family feud was settled and there is an agreement in place as part of it that should the Oregon Avenue location shut down for longer than 10 day, Luke Jr. has the right to purchase the location outright and take it over. Yes, the entire situation really should be made into a documentary!
