1/23 NEW JAPAN RESULTS FROM TOKYO

From Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:

Before the event, Master Wato comes out to the ring on crutches.    It was supposed to be Master Wato vs. SHO in the semi-Main Event.   Master Wato apologizes to the fans for being unable to compete due to a leg injury.   SHO attacks Wato.    El Desperado makes the save. 

1 - Ryusuke Taguchi and Katsuya Murashima vs. YOH and Shoma Kato

Taguchi forces Kato to tap out to an ankle lock.

2 - Great O-Khan, HENARE, TJP, Francesco Akira and Callum Newman vs. David Finlay, Alex Coughlin, Gabe Kidd, Drilla Moloney and Clark Conners

Both teams brawl at the start.  Wild match.  Drilla and Conners were about to hit Akira with a 2X2, but TJP superkicked Conners.   Akira rolled up Conners with a school boy and got the pin.

3 - Hikuleo, El Phantasmo and Jado vs. KENTA, Chase Owens and Taiji Ishimori

KENTA pins Jado after a roll up.

4 - Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii and Tomoaki Honma vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Mikey Nichols, Shane Haste and Kosei Fujita

Okada got a huge chant from the Korakuen crowd. 

TMDK worked well against the 6 man Tag Champs.  Fujita did his best to antagonize Okada.   Fujita showed a lot of fire against Tanahashi, Ishii and Okada.  Honma missed a Kokeshi from the ropes on ZSJ.   ZSJ with a neck wrench on Honma and applied an arm submission.

Honma taps out.

Tomorrow, Okada, Tanahashi and Ishii will defend the NEVER Openweight 6-man Titles against Nichols, Haste and Fujita, which they are calling Okada's last match in Korakuen.  

Okada comes back into the ring holding his Title and bows to the crowd.   

TMDK should win the titles tomorrow night.   It will be interesting to see how they drop the titles.   Fujita would get a massive rub if he pins Okada, although he is not at the level of Yota Tsuji, Ren Narita or Shota Umino.

5 - Tama Tonga, Shota Umino and Togi Makabe vs. Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL

Narita hits Makabe with the push up bar, while EVIL is distracting the refereee.

Narita pins Makabe.

Tomorrow, Narita will face Umino in a Singles Match in the main event.   Umino should get a clean win in that match.   Narita will get his heat back by being with House of Torture.   They may choose end the feud at this point but the careers of Narita and Umino will always be intertwined.

6 -  Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi, Yota Tsuji, Hiromu Takahashi and BUSHI vs. SANADA, Taichi, TAKA Michinoku, DOUKI and Yuya Uemura

Taichi hits Tensho Jujihou in BUSHI's face.   Taichi pins BUSHI.

After the match, Taichi had words for Shingo Takagi.

7 - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship:   Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. El Desperado

The entire House of Torture come to the ring with Kanemaru.  After the introductions, House of Torture leaves ringside.

Kanemaru goes after Desperado's leg.   Desperado avoids the attacks.   They exchange headlocks.   Kanemaru with a dropkick to the left leg.  They brawl to the floor and batter each other against the guardrails.   They trade strikes.   Kanemaru with a flipping neckbreaker and camel clutch with a cross face.  Desperado counters with two back suplexes.  Desperado with a dragon screw and a Stretch Muffler.   Kanemaru gets to the ropes.   Kanemaru with a Victory Roll and a two count.  Kanemaru hits a Satellite DDT.   Desperado with Spine Buster and goes for Numero Dos.

SHO comes back to ringside.  Referee is distracted.   Narita attacks Desperado from behind and gets a rear naked choke.    Umino and Tanahashi hit the ring.  They chase House of Torture back to the locker.  Kanemaru bounces Desperado off an unprotected turnbuckle.   Kanemaru with a reverse DDT and a moonsault.   Two count.  Kanemaru locks in a Boston Crab.  He transitions to a Lion Tamer.    Desperado gets the ropes.  Kanemaru hits Deep Impact.   Two count.  Desperado with a big suplex.   Desperado hits a Spine Buster and an Olympic Slam.  Desperado hits Guitara de Angel.  Two count.    Desperado with a dragon screw.   Kanemaru gets a few near falls.   Desperado applies Numero Dos. 

House of Torture hits the ring again.   They pull the referee out and stomp on Desperado.     The crowd is giving them tons of heat.   EVIL and Togo go for a Magic Killer but Tama Tonga makes the save.  Tama and Desperado hits a Magic Killer on EVIL.

Kanemaru tries to spray Desperado with whiskey but gets a punch in the face.  Desperado goes for Pinche Loco, but Kanemaru reverses into a Jacknife pin.   Two count.   Kanemaru throws him into the buckle and goes for a brainbuster.   Desperado reverses into Numero Dos.

Kanemaru submits.

El Desperado retains the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship.

Good match from former Suzuki-Gun member and former partners.   Kanemaru and Desperado know each other well and put on a great show.

After the match, Desperado thanks those who helped him tonight.   He told Master Wato to get well and come back stronger.
