Wrestling Open Week 106 - 1/11/24 Worcester, MA

Tonight kicks off the Wrestling Open JUMBO Grand Prix! What is that???

I took last week off for a recharge so coming back, I’m hearing that Jermaine Marbury won a battle royal for a Wrestling Open Title shot! I hear that unfortunately Joe Ocasio tore his ACL. Also, we have video screens now?!? I go away for a week and the room got a bit of a glow-up!

Spotlight Match: Draeger vs Fancy Ryan Clancy

With Draeger’s singlet and no nonsense looks Clancy seems like the perfect first test for this guy. AND he is a graduating member of the first class of Beyond’s wrestling school (BIOPro). Ryan is playing clean through the lockup but Draeger taking his shots regardless of the rules and stunning the fancy man. Clancy returning fire but Draeger hits a hard back suplex for two. Ryan fights back to his feet, slips a slam, tags Draeger with rights….airplane spin! Draeger eats a picture perfect dropkick to the face for the win!

Winner: Fancy Ryan Clancy

And we’re live on IWTV! Paul Crockett and Brother Greatness are on commentary! Rich Palladino is your announcer! Let’s do this! 

Match 1: Pedro Dones vs Dezmond Cole (JGP B Block)

Dined may have turned over a new leaf but tonight, we’re revisiting a time when he was less nice. He’s still calling his shot on the Big Boofa…he’s going for that chin! He tries to wrap but Cole but those slick dance moves are a good counter. Dones with the takeover…boofa with the great escape! Slingshot moonsault drops Dones for two! Dones with a spinning wheel kick for two! There’s that shot to the jaw he was looking for. And now he’s swarming. Cole with running cross chops and a sweep! He goes for the roll but Dones catches a Samoan drop! Dones to the top! Cole intercepts! Superplex! Suplex! Huge lariat cuts the shot caller down for two! What goes up? Dones blocks it. Hard knee to the chin when Boofa splits. Dones with a 619! He goes for a splash but lands badly, his knee is toast! Boofa with a sunset flip and locks the leverage with a headstand for the three!

Winner: Dezmond Cole (2 pts)

Match 2: The Church of Greatness (Tyree Taylor & Lucas Chase w/ Brother Greatness) vs Mutually Assured Destruction (Rip Byson & Perry Von Vicious)

MAD IS BACK FROM JAPAN!!!! Worcester pops with the Welcome Back! Rip showing off his increased speed and aggressiveness against Chase. Taylor gets in but he gets a double dose of MAD. Dropkick to the big man, Lucas with the blind tag and ambushes Perry. Perry taking the beatdown from the church, Chase has him to a knee and trying to choke the life from him. Double chokeslam but Rip breaks up the pin. Perry with a boot! Saito to Lucas! He escapes Tyrese with a headkick! Tag to Ripper! Flying clothesline to Tyree! Slam to Chase! Tyree with a head hit and Rip is staggered. Perry helps with a double chokeslam, this should be the end but Lucas breaks it up. Perry is rocked…Rip fighting two on one…The church puts him away with a double Brooklyn zoo bomb!

Winners: Church of Greatness

Brother Greatness has the mic. They are clearly offering a hand out to recruit Ichiban???

Match 3: Hammer Tunis vs RJ Rude

This is pretty even through the opening minutes. Hammer and RJ trading some hard shots and slams. Tunis gets the drop in the corner and starts landing some hard running knees to the pop punk devil. Rude picked a fight with Tyree Taylor previously…Hammer will have to do a lot to stop him. Rude chopping hard but Hammer hits a spine buster. He’s starting to be more interested in riling up the crowd. Rude with a flying knee! He goes for a Killswitch driver…Hammer out and trying to finish…RJ with a reversal and spikes the Killswitch driver for the win.

Winner: RJ Rude

Hammer Tunis is VERY upset with the crowd jeering him for the loss. 

Match 4: Steven Stetson vs Ichiban (JGP D Block)

Hammer Tunis attacks Ichiban as he comes through the curtain! The bell hasn’t rung but Ichiban is laid out and thrown in for Stetson to kill. Tunis is thrown out of the building but the damage is done. Stetson with a big cowboy lariat for the…Kick out!!! Stetson is torturing the former Wrestling Open champion with hard whips and elbows. Season senton! Stetson too busy preening as Ichiban comes back from the dead! The big cowboy is rocked! Ichiban goes for a tornado but gets slammed down for two. Ichiban punches free of a superplex! Ichiban off the top! Running chops! Dropkick! Tornado ddt! Springboard destroyer for two!!!! Stetson catches the Ichiban Kai…Ichiban tries to slingshot back but flies right into the North Jersey Lariat and Stetson gets the win. Boooooo!

Winner: Steven Stetson (2 pts)

Match 5: TJ Crawford vs Gabriel Skye (JGP F Block)

These two are going to try and knock each other’s damn head off. And I’m just enjoying it. TJ kicks out the leg and wraps it in the rope and baseball slides it. This changes the tone of the match since Gabe can’t stand and trade like he did before. TJ homing in on that limb. Gabe with a desperate bomb. Discus elbows. Gabe catches a leg and starts fighting back. Jumping double stomp sends TJ crashing down. Gabe winding up for a running knee. Cro cop head kick staggers TJ hard, like last time they fought. The ref is checking on him but it’s a trap. Gabe dropped into the buckles and TJ gets a backslide pin for the sudden win.

Winner: TJ Crawford (2 pts)

It’s world class time and Bakabella already has the microphone. Bakabella introduces Thomas. I can’t get over him being called the “Count of Monte Fisto”. 

Match 6: World Class Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs Bryce Donovan (JGP A Block)

Bryce knows what Bakabella can do and plants him in a chair and says something to Bakabella that FREEZES SIDNEY to his chair. He is not moving. An inch. Channing wants to know what the hell he said! Bakabella looks miserable. Meanwhile, Bryce gives Channing a taste of his own count of Monte fisto! Dropkick in the corner! Channing kicks out the knee and Donovan is getting pummeled. Donovan won’t stay down. Bakabella isn’t gonna leave that chair. Channing caught Donovan but eats an electric chair drop. Flying clothesline! Bryce is revving up! Big boot! Sky high elbow drop! We’re at ten minutes! Bryce with the black hole slam! Anaconda Vise! Channing escapes to the apron. Bryce stuns with a superkick…Channing escapes a second black hole…perfect plex!  Bryce is posted…he goes for a chokeslam but his arm gives out! He posts Channing! Chokeslam! Bakabella leaves his chair and gets Channing’s foot in the ropes. Bryce goes after Bakabella and Channing gets the roll up. Feet high on the ropes for the pin and World Class gets a pair of points!

Winner: Channing Thomas

We’re going into our six-man tag but the lights go out??? Oh I see…Brad is also a basketball guy now and making a big entrance. There’s even a disco ball. I imagine the people on IWTV saw pitch blackness for about 2 minutes. lol. 

Match 7: Big Business (Brad Hollister & Brick City) vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball) and Waves & Curls

Marbury is looking for some momentum against the Open champions and this is a great team to do it with! Jermaine with a great splash on Julio. Bacon in to mock his number one contender. Jermaine with some quick arm drags and Brad runs for cover. Victor Chase just getting his elbow twisted and smashed by everyone. Traevon has slams for everyone. Triple swish elbow drop! Chase with a snake eyes on Brandyn. Big Business has their opening. Jaelyn taking. Beating while Benny rallies us with a defense chant. Julio with the distract and Ref Bill misses the tag to Traevon. They focus on the tall guy but miss the tag to Marbury! He jukes them both! Kobe to Victor! Corner spears! Destroyer! We have one minute left! This is chaos as everyone is trying to get the fall! Waves and Curls dive at Brick City! Bacon goes for the jackhammer…Marbury escapes…jukes…ankle lock! He drops and locks it in as time expires! Bacon BARELY survives. He is furious and slaps his challenger. Marbury returns with a dropkick to send the champ running! 

Winners: Time Limit Draw

 Main Event: Alec Price vs Dustin Waller (JGP C Block)

A main event rematch from Week 2, this time for control of the C block! They are intense but they shake on this. Sportsmanship! Price and Alec are jawing back and forth. This match means a lot to both of them. For Price, a path back to championship gold. For Waller, a chance to prove he can hang at the highest level as a singles wrestler. Price tries to get in Waller’s head. They are dodging and countering and stepping back. Waller is focused. Flash staying on the Northeast beast. He misses the running shooting star…Price back at it. He doesn’t like having to fight his friend but he HAS TO. Waller with a tilt a whirl armbreaker combo! He goes for the handspring cutter but Proce grabs the ankle…no! He cries! “It’s mine too!” Yells Waller. Price with a cracking slap and a great powerbomb for two! Price does him the respect of not one more timing him. Emergency leg drop! Spanish fly off the top! Both are down and we’re counting it out. They barely make the count! Price decide to go for it but Waller blocks the disrespect. Trading hard chops! Flash hits the handspring cutter! He’s going for it hard! Price eating shot after shot. Price reverses the handspring to a rebound lariat. Flip spike ddt! Price hits the suuuuuuprize kick and Dustin Waller takes another L against the Northeast Beast.

Winner: Alec Price
