The first match of the first show at #wrestival@RemarkableWres presents #youthofthenation @ETUwrestling Key to the East Championship on the line!!#Greatness pic.twitter.com/Qp1hsQzdpb
Match 1: Marcus Mathers vs Brother Greatness (for the ETU Key to the East Championship)
Brother Greatness seems to have a manager that he does not want around. Jesse is cheering him on but in that Yankees Jersey, no one wants him here. To his credit, BG is taking this seriously and trying to overwhelm the Young Prodigy. Marcus starting to fly high but lands into a crotch bound knee. A dragon screw lands and BG is working that knee. And just like that, he starts getting preachy and Marcus hits a good blue Thunder for two. BG hits an air raid crash crash! Palm strikes! Marcus with a superkick but he runs right into a dropkick. Marcus blocks a kick…lariat!!! BG with a Brian buster and reverse splash for two! Codebreaker! Kick out! Marcus escapes a roll up and bombs Brother out of the corner. Corkscrew facebuster for the win and successful defense. Not today, Satan!
Winner: Marcus Mathers
Jesse continues to beg Brother Greatness to let him help. BG says FINE.
Match 2: Wild Hound Johnny Rivera vs The Dracula Kid Sam Hain vs The Specialist vs Chet Clancy vs Cooper Valentine (Remarkable Invitational Scramble)
Cooper Valentine looks like Jordan Castle’s illegitimate child with Love Doug. If you get that joke, I’m proud of you. As for the scramble, this is what you expect to see. A fast moving match, a lot of quick shots and a great dive from Cooper. Rivera has the hometown support but Sam Hain ends this quick with a crucifix cutter on Clancy for the sudden win.
Winner: Sam Hain
Match 3: Shook Crew (Bryce Donovan & Bobby Orlando) vs Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King) vs Above the Rest (Tristan Thai & Gabriel Skye)(c) (for the Remarkable tag team championships)
THIS match could be a main event. Gabe and Dustin start with some hot lucha, this is lucha rules after all. Kylon and Thai try to kick each other each others heads off. Shook Crew decide to hang back until they tag themselves in and start wrestling each other??? Dustin is tired of these shenanigans and wants to actually wrestle. And so we get into a chicken fight. I’m not kidding. ATR lets this go on for a WHILE but eventually just kicks everyone down and starts killing Orlando. Suplex 450 to Bobby for two! Kylon starting to throw Germans with abandon as the combat starts to heat up. THIS is the wild fight I expected! German to Dustin. Double stomp for two! Bryce and Bobby unloading on the champs! RKO and chokeslam to Gabe! MG makes the save on the pin! Flurry of double teams as everyone tries to put SOMEONE away. Bobby gets launched into a spear right into a knee for the win and successful defense for ATR.
Winner: Above the Rest
Match 4: Zagan Rivers vs Cono Capuccia (Dog Collar match for the Remarkable Riot Championship)
Rivera doesn’t even let the dog collar get put on before he attacks. The champ grabs the chain and pummels his challenger. He gets the collar on Rivers. Rivers whips the champ with the chain. He grabs way too many chains and a door. This is an elaborate setup as the champ recovers. Suddenly, we got skewers. And a firecracker bat. And tacks. What. Rivers with a bomb into the tacks. This is legitimately the quietest I’ve ever seen a match that devolved into hardcore shenanigans. I hate to say it. Anyways, Cono hits a meteora through some chairs and a door to mercifully end this.
Winner: Cono Capuccia
Also, now the REF attacks the champ and spikes him into the chairs and door. Why not. Why not indeed. I feel like this match was cursed from the start. You can’t have a dog collar grudge match and then have one of the participants drop out and then replace them with Dollar Store Krule and have it in front of a crowd that had no idea what the grudge was in the first place.
Match 5: Brando Lee & Jordan Saint vs Memory Museum (Abed Arroniz & Joe Krule w/ Percy Ryan)
After that last match, I’m really ready for anything to bring us back. Luckily, these two teams are just throwing themselves into having a high energy encounter. So I’ll be honest…I missed the entire finish because one of the firecrackers from the previous match exploded and everyone jumped. It looked like Memory Museum did a Doomsday thing and Abed gets the pin.
Winner: Memory Museum
Main Event: Robert Martyr vs Dezmond Cole(c) (for the Remarkable Wrestling Championship)
Martyr is someone I never see often enough up here. At least he isn’t getting sacrificed to Anthony Henry’s vicious kicks this year? Boofa starting flashy early but Martyr just starts to ground the champ and try to wear him out. Trading some hard shoulder blocks and quick pin attempts. Cole with the shimmy and high flying sunset flip pin for two. Robert dodges the rolling legdrop…butterfly backbreaker owwwww. Martyr is definitely holding a chip on his shoulder as a “real” wrestler in this contest but the “dancing guy” keeps escaping and dropping him. Good sweep into a Michanoku driver from the champ. Rolling legdrop for two! Martyr with a dodge on the dive…tornado side slam for two! Cole with the head trap kick and German off the top! Martyr won’t stay down. The challenger hits a brain buster! Kick out! Cole slams Martyr down one last time to retain his belt!
Winner: Dezmond Cole
