12/27 WWE SMACKDOWN IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN REPORT

By Johnny Miyares on 2023-12-28 02:09:00

Smackdown Crew Holiday show at the Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit.

Kevin Owens defeated Solo Sikoa with a stunner. Good back and forth match for the opener. Towards the end, KO avoided a spike, then Solo kicked out of both a Stunner and a Swanton Bomb before a second stunner finished him off.

Butch beat Grayson Waller with a kick to the head. Good pops for Butch. Grayson came out and got a lot of heat with the crowd. He picked on the people and the Pistons as losers.

The Street Profits with Bobby Lashley beat LWO (Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro)

With what looked like a double teamed sit down power bomb on Cruz. Much quieter crowd for this match. Street Profits are in between being faces and heels and the LWO are just unknown.

Six man tag: Pretty Deadly and Austin Theory lost to AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. If there was a question to whether they were "good", this answered it. AJ pinned Theory after the Phenomenal Forearm.

WWE Women's Championship Match. Shotzi defeats Iyo Sky by disqualification after Bayley entered the ring to interfere. Iyo retains the championship on the DQ. Very short match with the crowd not happy with the ending. Bayley and Iyo attacking Shotzi two on one until Bianca comes to the ring to make the save. This then becomes a tag match with Bianca and Shotzi vs Bayley and Iyo. Bianca gets the pin on Bayley with the KOD.

Main Event: LA Knight defeated Jimmy Uso in a Detroit Street Fight with the BFT. Plenty of plunder. Fans called for tables and got three kendo sticks and a chair. LA Knight wanted to pull out the table but knocked LA around and put the table back. Some attacks involving the ring steps, and LA Knight hitting the Yeahpple's Elbow on the chair on top of Jimmy. A table did come out near the end. Jimmy found a chain under the ring, wrapped it around his wrist and tried doing a Superman Punch (a la Roman) on Knight, but missed. Knight puts Jimmy through the table, then hits the BFT for the win.

At the end, LA Knight did a promo, saying 2023 was his year, and 2024 would be no different.

Great crowd for all but the Street Profit versus LWO match.

Biggest Pops:

1: LA Knight

2: Bianca Belair

3: Kevin Owens

Biggest Heat

1: Grayson Waller

2: Austin Theory

3: Jimmy Uso
