VIKINGO VS. BLACK TAURUS AND MORE: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-12-23 00:13:00

It is Friday and this week, AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite at the Paycom Plaza in Oklahoma, OK. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Chris Jericho, and Tony Schiavone.

Orange Cassidy (AEW International Champion) vs Rocky Romero

After the bell, Cassidy trades sunglasses with a similarly dressed fan. He goes back to the ring and he and Romero lock up collar and elbow, and go into the ropes for a clean break. Cassidy then gets an arm bar takedown, and Romero is up immediately and leaping into the ropes where he hangs between the second and third rope. Rocky throws a chop and Cassidy then winds up and puts his hands in his pockets. He then gets the running  drop-kick and Romero answers with a hurricanrana. Cassidy goes to the floor and Romero dives onto him.

They return to the ring and Cassidy rolls across the ring to the floor. Romero runs around the ring and uses the steel steps for a hurricanrana and then rams Cassidy into the side of the ring. They return to the ring and Romero hits the forever clotheslines. Cassidy pops out of the corner with a casadora and holds on for a two count. Romero gets a back breaker on Cassidy and then works him over in the corners. Romero gets another back breaker for two.

Romero whips Cassidy into the corners, but he gets a DDT on Romero and Romero goes to the floor. Cassidy hits a dive and rolls Romero into the ring. Cassidy goes to the top and gets a diving crossbody. Cassidy tries for the spinning DDT, but Romero turns it into a suplex. Romero drapes Cassidy on the top rope and Cassidy dodges the knee strike. They fight in the ropes, and Romero suplexes Cassidy on the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cassidy and Romero trade forearms. Cassidy throws a pair of kicks and an Orange Punch, but both men are down. Cassidy tries for the beach break, but his back gives out. Romero gets a suplex, but Cassidy retaliates with a stundog millionaire and a Michonoku Driver for two. Cassidy lays in kicks and stomps.

Cassidy throws the elbow pad down and Romero gets a high knee, a sliced bread, and covers for two. Romero tries for strong zero, but Cassidy turns it into a rollup for two. Romero charges into Cassidy in the corner twice, but Cassidy gets the boot up each time. Cassidy  leaps off the second rope, but Romero hits a leaping knee strike followed by a spinning DDT.

Romero hits strong zero for two. Cassidy hits the Orange Punch, but Romero doesn’t go down. Cassidy then hits beach break for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy

They show a short video package about their donations to Toys for Tots.

Tony Schiavone is in the back with Kris Statlander and asks about Willow Nightingale. Kris says after their Texas Street Fight, they are a great team. Stokely Hathaway says that Willow says she carried Kris to victory. Stokley then says that factions don’t really help, and she can do whatever she wants unless she wants to hang out with her friends.

Brian Cage and Prince Nana challenges Keith Lee for tomorrow night on Collision.

The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy) vs The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) w/Roderick Strong

Roddy says that if Oklahoma City doesn’t think MJF is the Devil, they are stupid.  Roddy calls specific people stupid on his way to the ring after speaking to them.

Taven and Matt start off, with Matt giving Taven a right hand and then beating him down in the corner. Matt gets a big back body drop and tags in Jeff. Matt slingshots Taven into the second rope and Jeff hits a splash for two. Matt tags back in and hits Taven with double back elbows for two. Taven gets an insigiri and he tags in Bennett, who drops Matt with a right hand.

Bennett calls for a twist of fate, and Matt shoots him into the ropes and hits a back elbow. He tags in Jeff and they whip Bennett across the ring and Matt drops down so Jeff can use him as a launching pad splash in the corner. Jeff hits a Russian Leg Sweep, goes to the top and Taven grabs a foot, and Bennett sweeps the leg.

Taven is tagged in and hits a frog splash on Jeff for two, and we go to picture in picture. When we return to full screen, Jeff has been the babyface in period. Taven tries for a swanton, but Jeff rolls out of the way and crawls to his corner. The Kingdom try to stop him, but Matt hits Bennett with a side effect on the apron, and Jeff nails Taven with a spinning back kick and Matt is tagged in.  Matt takes the opportunity to, as I say every week, run wild.

Matt gets a drop out of the corner on Taven for two, then a side effect for two, then Bennett tries to stop him and takes a Twist of Fate for his trouble. Taven gets out of the ring and Matt tries for another Twist of Fate and everyone brawls at ringside. Matt and Taven return to the ring and as Matt is arguing with the ref about trying to use a chair on the floor, Taven gets a surprise roll up for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Kingdom

We go back to Renee Paquette who is with Ruby Soho, and Ruby says she has nto talked to Saraya. Anthony Parker shows up and says he’d like to take Ruby out for a drink tonight. Saraya shows and says she needs Ruby, and if it comes with…him…she’s OK with it. She says she has gifts for Renee and Ruby in the locker room. Saraya stays to chat with Parker and says that Ruby is hers entirely, and she hates Parker.

Skye Blue vs the already in the ring Queen Aminata

Blue has new ring gear and a new entrance song as she comes to the ring.

They go face to face and Blue leaps up to kiss Aminata, and Aminata fires back with a  forearm. They throw hands in the middle of the ring and Blue wins the exchange. Aminata tries for an air raid crash, Blue drops down for a pulldown pin, and Aminata reverses it for two. Aminata gets a twisting neck breaker and Blue rolls to the apron. They fight on the apron and Skye gets a face buster on the apron.

Skye tosses Aminata into the barricade and tosses Aminata into the ring. Blue covers for two. Blue slaps Aminata around and Aminata fights back. Aminata gets a release German suplex and goes for a hip attack followed by a running boot in the corner. Aminata covers for two. Aminata goes to the top and Blue rolls in and gets a pair of kicks. Blue gets a TKO and locks on a dragon sleeper, causing Aminata to tap out.

Winner: Skye Blue
