Wrestling Open Week 103

12/21/23 - Worcester, MA

 We are one week away from “THE LAST STAND”! We are one week away from THE WRESTIVAL! We are one week away from two years of weekly shows on Thursdays in Worcester! I know we had a covid exposure over the weekend (at a different show) so tonight’s card was adjusted somewhat and I applaud both Open for pushing on people to not show if they are feeling ill BUT also the increased presence of masking in the crowd tonight. Sometimes, you just gotta. But it’s 7:45pm and we have a spotlight match. 

Spotlight Match: Hammer Tunis (w/ Steven Stetson) vs Dex Royal

The Airwalker makes his debut tonight, joining us from Ontario. What an unfortunate way to find out Stetson is here. Royal with a hard shoulder block and slick armdrag. Great sweep kick and kick to the head. The crowd already liking this guy. Tunis with a corner reversal but catches Tunis with a kick. He slingshots into a flatliner. Tunis tries to grind him down, Royal is free but runs into a spine buster for two. Rebound forearm! Royal with lariats and kicks. Another sweep and head kick for two! Hammer dodges a double stomp. Back elbow into the corner and puts Royal down with a short ddt for the win. I hate this result (because f*** the ranch) but I’d like to see Royal back here. This was a really good first showing. 

Winner: Hammer Tunis 

We’re live! Rich Palladino is our announcer. Paul Crockett and Brother Greatness are at commentary. I’m looking around and seeing a room getting pretty damn full. Let’s do this!

TJ Crawford is out here to open out the show. He say big business has run wrestling open and wrestling in general for the last six months. Citation needed, sir. Anyways, he’s planning to show us what Bis Business is going to do next week in Steel Cage Warefare in this next match… 

Match 1: TJ Crawford vs Rex Lawless (w/ RJ Rude) 

The Mayo chants starting early and we’re right in TJ’s head. He tries chopping Rex. Bad idea. Rex hits a great fallaway slam. TJ tries to counter the Vader bomb but Rex is ready for it. TJ eating some hard shots but he’s doing a good job of landing a few shots to the knee. And when he hits the chop block, Lawless goes down hard. Crawford swarms in that limb with stomps and a dropkick off the second. Rex with a swinging facebuster after catching a choke. Rex tries to pop him up for a chokebomb but TJ catches a guillotine choke…Rex down to his knees and Crawford hits a spinning back kick for the win.

Winner: TJ Crawford

Miracle Generation is out here for a match! They come through the crowd and TJ Crawford and Brad Hollister immediately attack them from the curtain. Spin kick to Dustin. Kylon bombed on the apron. Dustin eats a powerbomb…they set up King for a belt shot but Ryan Clancy and Dezmond Cole run out to make the save. Is Big Business trying to keep the IWTV tag champs from next week’s steel cage Warefare??? There were no words said but this segment said SO MUCH. 

 Match 2: Paris Van Dale (w/ Shannon LaVangie) vs Rachel Armstrong

I’ve loved seeing Rachel’s run through the Southeast scene so I’m hoping she has a good showing here tonight. Armstrong is small but Paris immediately runs for the ropes. Paris trying to bully but Rachel hits a cross body for two. Paris with a knee strike and X factor for a retaliatory near fall. Paris goes right for the chokes and is wearing Armstrong down. Hard forearms from Rachel! Swinging neckbreaker! Running reverse meteora for two! Paris dodges a moonsault and hits her package ddt for the win. I’ve liked Rachel Armstrong since seeing her at ACTION Futures this year but she was doomed in this matchup. 

Winner: Paris Van Dale

 Shannon LaVangie has the mic. She’s gloating that Kennedi Copeland couldn’t be here tonight and at that point we lose the plot because Shannon’s voice is caught up in a sea of boos. Anyways, Gabby Forza is out here to welcome Shannon back to Worcester!

Match 3: Shannon LaVangie (w/ Paris Van Dale) vs Gabby Forza

GNOMEBERG RETURNS! Shannon is getting beat to hell in the early going. Big press slam. Shannon getting tossed around like a rag doll. She finally dodges a charge in the corner and hits a backstabber that she shows some fire. Dropkick off the second. Gabby catches a codebreaker and dumps Shannon into the buckles but her back is a target and she can’t keep up the momentum. Corner boots. Gabby trying to find a way out of trouble but Shannon keeps countering. Gabby with a huge slam and Vader bomb! Shannon with a codebreaker in the corner but Gabby tosses her from the top! Paris tries to distract her in the corner but she gets knocked off the apron. Shannon comes running and eats a Gnomeberg spear! Gnomie wins!

Winner: Gabby Forza

 

 Gabby says that she’s sick of Paris and Shannon saying that Kennedi Copeland has no friend. She has GNOME FRIENDS! And next week, they are teaming up to take care of these mean girls at “The Last Stand”. Let’s gooooooo!

Match 4: Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs Landon Hale!!!

Channing is sporting that white towel covered in Landon Hale’s blood. Is that sanitary? Love Doug loves us all and we love Doug. Doug says that Channing isn’t wrestling him tonight…Landon Hale flies in with a dropkick! He’s alllll over Channing, who does not know how to handle this ultra agggressive Good Doctor! A huge world class Channing lariat and Bakabella prayers are being answered! Landon answers with a high knee strike! He goes for the SPO driver but Bakabella pulls Channing out of the ring and tries to lead him to the back. World Class is giving this up? Channing doesn’t want to lose but Bakabella pushes him back.

Winner: Landon Hale (by Count out)

 Hale says that Channing made him bleed? Next week, he makes Channing bleed. At The Last Stand…Landon vs Channing…FIRST BLOOD!

It’s Church time. Tyree Taylor and Brother Greatness are out here to deliver a sermon, I guess. These vests are nice. Brother Greatness is hot on the mic tonight. Fired up. He’s serious about the church. He’s serious about their growth. To prove it, Tyree isn’t going to go after championships…he’s going after NUMBER ONE. Next week at Last Stand? Ichiban vs Tyree Taylor and they promise number one will become number zero.

It’s time to settle the dispute between Danny Miles & BRG over who gets to own the Open Door War Tag Team Title Contract!

Match 5: Danny Miles (w/ Steven Stetson & Hammer Tunis) vs BRG (for control of the Open Door War tag team Contract)

Miles has the numbers advantage for sure but if BRG can keep eyes in the back of his head, he is sure to prevail. This approach is working. He even bites Danny on the top and sends him flying. Hammer tosses him to the apron as Stetson makes the distract. This is a HARD hit and Danny is unloading on his former partner. BRG fires up but Danny traps a cross armbreaker…escape! Codebreaker to the arm! He tries a suplex but BRG hits a swinging neckbreaker to reverse the tide. Hammer involved again but he eats a hard chop! The arm is rekt and he can’t hit the ripcord…BRG with a spear for two! Danny with a European uppercut on the top….BRG sends him down…elbow drop! Dive to the ranch! Danny posts him and rolls him up for the win. Noooooooo! The ranch keeps the contract.

Winner: Danny Miles

 Match 6: Joe Ocasio, Ray Jaz & Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes) vs Gabe Skye, Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball), & Shook Crew (Bobby Orlando & Bryce Donovan w/ Bobby Jr)

We get a few minutes of the baby faces putting on headbands and the crowd is VERY here for this. Honestly this crowd is frickin’ electric tonight. Maybe if team red shorts had a little more color consistency in their boots and knee pads, they’d have a better start. Instead Gabe, Bryce, Bobby and Jermaine are just running through the NY/NJ connection. They need a huddle far away from the ring as the crowd chants for basketball. Ray Jaz is in there and taking charge on Marbury. The ref distracted and Marbury eats an assist cutter into the top rope. This is a stiff reversal of fortunes. We get the defense chant going but Landmine Joe just stomps Marbury along with it. Jaz guts the newcomer and drags him around the ring as we hit the mid point of the 20 minute time limit. Tag to Gabe Skye and he’s running wild but Shook is cleared from the apron so he’s going it alone…and it’s no surprise when Joe Germans the hell put of him. Marbury back into to serve up Kobe’s to 3/4’s of his opponents…and Joel catches him with a Landmine spine buster for the win. This was wild as f***. 

Winner: Ocasio, Jaz & Swipe Right

 

 

 Gabe Skye right into Ocasio’s face. He wants a piece of the Landmine again one more time! he wants to go right now! Joe says no…maybe next week. Hot match, hot finish. I’m exhausted. We still have a title match!

 

 

 Main Event: Big Bacon Brad Hollister(c) (w/ TJ Crawford) vs Dezmond Cole (w/ Fancy Ryan Clancy) (for the Wrestling Open Championship & Advantage in Steel Cage Warfare)

Cole is here for a huge opportunity but Bacon Lesnar showed up tonight and is tossing his challenger around with ease in the early Moments. Bradley with a charge and Cole dodges. Dezmond attacking the arm and chest, smacking and walking the champ down. Brad throwing head butts! Runs into forearm and suplex! Bacon dodges a corner cannonball. Brad stomping him out. Cole goes for a five but Hollister catches him on the floor. Battle to the stairs and Cole stomps him hand into the metal mesh. Bacon takes the advantage again but Cole’s strat is showing promise, as Brad can’t German him with that hurt arm and hand. Cole with a German on the champ! Sweep the leg! Michanoku driver! Powerbomb!!!! Famouser!!!!! Razor thin two! He comes of the top again…Bacon catches him…Rana! What goes upppppp….Bacon’s down! Swanton!!!’ Bacon kicks out again! Cole goes for the kill again but Brad headbutts him. Muscle buster! Cole kicks out! Cole blocks the jackhammer! He head kicks Bacon but gets caught in a superplex. Back. Can’t make it into the full jackhammer and Cole makes the kick out! Brad grabs the Wrestling Ooen belt and brings it to the ring. The ref grabs it away…Cole grabs a head and arm triangle! The ref gets shoved into the buckles! Brad takes the eyes and grabs the belt again! Ryan Clancy hits the ring and dropkicks the champ!!!!! He grabs the belt….TJ Crawford hits the ring and spin kicks Clancy. Cole with a superkick on the Mayo Messiah! Bacon has the belt and blast Cole and makes the cover. Cole is down for a long time as the ref wakes up and makes a slow three count so bacon can retain his championship and get the advantage for Team Big Business next week. 

Winner: Brad Hollister

 

 

 Bacon going for more damage on his opponents but Miracle Generation hits the ring to drive them off and steal Bacon’s kingly crown. They stomp it flat in the center of the ring! Bacon swears he’s killing them all next week.
