It is Saturday and AEW Collision was recorded Tuesday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, QC Canada. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Kevin Kelly, and Nigel McGuinness.
We get the opening promos for everyone in the Continental Classic tournament as well as Kenny Omega and Ethan Page.
Claudio Castagnoli vs Eddie Kingston in a Continental Classic match
Eddie starts fast with a spinning back fist and a T Bone suplex. Claudio rolls out of the ring and Eddie follows him out and rolls him into the ring, hits a scoop slam for two. Eddie lays in chops in the corner, and Clauidio hits a front slam for two. Claudio lays in forearms and Eddie goes to the apron where Claudio clotheslines him to the floor.
Claudio rolls him into the ring and hits a big double stomp on Eddie. Claudio hits a series of dismissive kicks and Eddie gets to his feet and lays in chops. Claudio picks the legs and goes for the big swing, but instead gets a sharp shooter. Eddie is able to bridge up and get to the ropes for the break. Claudio goes back to dismissive kicks. He then lays in a heavy series of uppercuts. Claudio then gets a running missile drop kick in the corner for a two.
Eddie fights to his feet, and he and Claudio throw hands until Claudio gets a short arm clothesline. Claudio slams Eddie for two. Claudio goes back to kicks and then they trade blows around the ring until Claudio beats Eddie down with forearms in the corner. Claudio puts Eddie on the top and joins him there. Claudio sets for a super plex and Eddie fights his way free. Claudio goes to the top again and hits the super plex from the top for two.
We go to picture in picture, and when we come back to full screen, Eddie stops Claudio's big boot and lays in chops, dropping Claudio and covering for two. Claudio sets for a ricola bomb, but Eddie blocks it so instead he hits a suplex for two. They trade blows and Eddie gets an insigiri and an exploder. Eddie hits another exploder for two. Eddie hits machine gun chops in the corner, and then jabs him in the jaw.
Eddie goes back to the chops and then hits a clothesline for two. Eddie gets a stretch plum, but it’s not properly applied so Claudio gets to the ropes for the break. Eddie tries the pile driver and Claudio drops to a knee to block it. Eddie gets a pair of knee lifts, and Claudio is able to get a slam for two and then hits a running uppercut for two. Claudio then locks on a STF. Eddie is able to get to the ropes for the break.
Claudio gets the hammer and anvil blows and calls for the ricola bomb. Eddie gets out of it, misses the spinning backfist and Claudio hits an uppercut for two.
We are told there are five minutes remaining.
They throw hands again and it becomes rapid shots back and forth and Eddie gets a half and half suplex. Claudio gets an uppercut and Eddie bits the spinning backfist for two.
Three minutes remain.
Eddie gets a series of knees and when Claudio blocks the power bomb, Eddie hits another spinning backfist. Claudio turns the power bomb into a hurricanrana and holds on for two, Eddie rolls through for the pin and the win.
Winner and getting three points: Eddie Kingston
We are shown a promo from Mox on Wednesday where he says Rush was a hard match, but it’s supposed to be hard. He tells Swerve when they flight on Wednesday, it will be a long night and he’d better pack a lunch.
In the back, Renee Paquette asks Hook about his persistent issue with Wheeler Yuta. Yuta then shows up and says he is an amateur. He says he can beat Hook under FTR rules, and Hook says “I bet.”
Willow Nightingale vs Mercedes Martinez w/Diamante
They lock up collar and elbow and Willow forces them into the corner. They lock up again and this time Martinez forces them into the corner. Martinez goes for a punch, but Willow ducks under and does the same, but Martenez gets in the ropes and calls for the ref to stop her. Martinez lays in strikes and then stomps Willow down in the corner. Martines tries to whip Willow into the ropes, but Willow puts on the brakes and drops her with a short arm lariat.
Willow lays in clotheslines in the ropes and whips Martinez into the ropes and hits a shoulder tackle. Willow hits a senton and Martinez rolls to the floor. Willow goes to the floor as well and Martenez drives her into the edge of the ring spine first. They brawl on the floor in front of the announcer’s table, and then fight around the table.
Martinez hits a hanging DDT using the barricade as we go to picture in picture. When we return to full screen, Martinez goes for the three amigos, but Willow blocks the third and reverses it. Martinez hits a series of strikes, but Willow is able to come off the ropes and hits a face plant on Martinez for two.
Willow charges into Martinez in the corner and hits a missile drop kick from the second rope. Willow hits a cannonball and covers for two as Martinez grabs the ropes. Diamante gets on the apron and Willow slaps her down to the floor. Willow goes for a gut wrench, but her back can’t take it. Martinez is able to hit a fisherman’s suplex, and follows with a cover for two.
Martinez gets a backdrop driver, followed by side suplex and calls for cheers from the crowd. Willow pills herself up on Martinez, and Martinez gets another fisherman's suplex. Martinez hoists Willow to the top and hits a black hole slam. When she covers, Willow rolls over and pins Martinez for three.
Winner: Willow Nightingale
Martinez and Diamante attack Willow after the bell and Diamante pulls out a step ladder out as well as a lead pipe. We hear Kris Statlnder’s music and she attacks from the back of the ring and chases them off.
In the back, Renee is with Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, and Jake Hager and he says he has Danhausen under investigation for putting his beloved hat down his pants. Hager says he has Bad Hat Fever. I doubt Ted Negent will be writing THAT song. He then says he is out for the night. Menard talks about how this is his hometown and they will win tonight. Ruby Soho shows and she starts making goo goo eyes with Parker, and Saraya loses her cool and screams that she has to prove that she still wants to be in the Outcasts.
We then get a promo from Swerve Strickland and how he is the leader in the tournament and he’s a leader in the company. He says that while Mox says he does all of this violent stuff, he does too.
Wardlow vs Willie Mack
WARDLOW FOUND HIS PASSPORT!!
This should be a decent Hoss fight.
Mack tries to take Wardlow off his feet and fails. Mack throws hands and then comes off the ropes into a drop kick from Wardlow. Wardlow works Mack over in the corner and then charges at Mack, who pulls down the top rope and goes to the floor. Mack comes over the top rope onto Wardlow on the floor. Wardlow is unfazed and hits a headbutt. He rolls Mack into the ring and leaps up onto the apron. Wardlow misses a charge and Mack rolls him up for a one count. Mack hits a standing moonsault for one.
Mack goes for a tejaris, and Wardlow catches him and power slams him. Wardlow hits the big lariat and it’s time for the power bomb symphony. Wardlow hits a power bomb and leaves the ring and the referee checks on Mack and calls for the bell.
Winner: Wardlow
We are shown Ricky Starks and Big Bill attacking Jericho after Full Gear, which explains why he has been out since then.
Ethan Page vs Kenny Omega
Omega comes to the ring alone. As does Page, so I guess Page is done with being with the Hardys.
They shake hands and then lock up collar and elbow. They move to arm bars and then Page shoots Omega into the ropes, and Omega gets a shoulder tackle. Page follows with a back elbow when Omega comes off the ropes. Page works over Omega in the corner, and we see Tony Nese watching in the back. Omega gets a hurricanrana and Page goes to the floor. Omega starts for a dive and Page stops him with a cutter from the apron.
Omega goes to the floor and Page follows him. They fight on the floor, and Omega gets a moonsault off of the barricade onto Page. They return to the ring and Omega gets a kotaro crusher. Omega tries for a slam but Page blocks it. Omega lays in blows before trying again, and Page blocks it again and answers with blows of his own. Page gets a scoop slam and works over Omega with blows.
Omega is able to stop Page’s attack and suplexes him over the top rope and they both go to the floor. They go to picture in picture after thai move and when they return to full screen, Omega drops Page back first onto the apron. Page then hits a flying elbow from the apron to the floor. Page rolls Omega into the ring and goes for the cutter again, but this time, Omega gets a knee to stop it. Omega gets a power bomb followed by a V Trigger for two.
Omema misses his next V Trigger, but Page is unable to capitalize and Omega hits a leaping knee on Page’s back. Page gets a snap mare and charges into Omega in the corner, but Omega gets the boots up. Omega gets to the top and Page is able to grab an iconoclasm slam, and follows with a DDT for two.
Omega is able to block a slam from Page, hits the You Cannot Survive roll, but misses on the second rope moonsault. Page tries a pump kick, but Omega blocks it and hits a snapdragon. Omega hits a second after Page fails to fight him off. Omega puts him on the top, joins him there, and Page is able to turn it into an avalanche slam from the top for two.
Page calls for the Ego’s Edge, and Omega escapes out the back and tries for one winged angel, and Page escapes out the back and rolls Omega up fortwo. Omega hits a knee, but Page follows with a big boot and covers for two, Omega reverses for two.
Omega gets a pair of V Triggers and finally hits the one winged angel for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kenny Omega
Page and Omega shake hands, and when Omega gets to the stage, Big Bill attacks and lays him out.
In the back, Lexi Nair is with CJ and she says that Andrade El Idolo is primed to win the match tonight and the tournament. Miro shows up and asks why CJ doesn’t say such good things about him. She says he told her to stay home and be a housewife. Miro says he won’t touch Andrade through the tournament, but afterward, he will break him.
Komander and Penta w/Alex Abrahantes vs Angelo Parker and Matt Menard
Menard and Parker get cheered as it’s Menard’s home town.
Menard and Penta start off and Penta does the glove removal bit, and Menard stops the Zero Fear hand gesture. Penta gets a back kick and then kicks Menard when Menard drops down as they run the ropes. They then get a quick sequence of covers with no count. Komander tags in as does Parker. Parker gets a leaping kick as Komander comes off the ropes. They run the ropes and Komander gets an arm drag and follows with a drop kick.
Penta is tagged in and they double team Parker in the corner. Menard tags in and he is stacked in the corner with Parker. Penta monkey flips Komander into the two of them. Penta and Komander try for a double dive, but Parker and Menard meet them with kicks instead as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Komander tags in Penta, who gets sling blades on Menard and Parker. They look like they are going to dive, but instead slide out of the ring and nail Menard and Parker with kicks. Parker is rolled into the ring and he and Penta thread blows. Penta hits Made in Japan for two. Menard tags in and he is able to get a Boston Crab, and Komander breaks it up.
Komander tags in and tries for a casadora, but instead Menard drops him on Parker’s knees for a lung blower. Parker covers for two. Penta comes into the ring and tosses Menard out of the ring. Pentas holds Parker for the assisted package piledriver and Komnader walks the ropes and then leaps on to them driving Parker into the mat for the pin and the win.
Winner: Penta and Komander
The main event:
Bryan Danielson vs Andrade El Idolo in a Continental Classic match
They shake hands to start the match and Andrade grabs an arm bar. They trade arm bars, working each other down. They lock up again with a greco roman knuckle lock and Adnrde forces them down, but Bryan gets a monkey flip to free himself. Andrade grabs a side headlock. Bryan shoots Andrade off into the ropes, but Andrade grabs the side headlock again. Bryan shoots him off again and Andrade hits a shoulder tackle and grabs the side headlock again.
This is a fantastic example of two wrestlers working simple holds and still keeping you involved.
Bryan shoots him into the ropes and Andrade gets a shoulder block. Andrade goes back to running, and while Bryan tries to grab an arm drag, but Andrade just barrels into him instead and covers for two. Bryan gets a belly to back suplex and the ref checks on Bryan to see if Bryan can keep going.
Bryan snaps Andrade’s arm and Bryan gets a series of kicks until Andrade gets a dragon whip, and then a flying forearm. Andrade goes for the double knees in the corner, but takes too long and Bryan dodges it. Andrade goes to the floor and Bryan leaps into him and grazes a rope as he leaps. Both men are down and need time to recover and we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Andrade has taken Bryan’s eye patch and tossed it into the crowd. Bryan and Andrade are trading chops in the middle of the ring. They run the ropes and Bryan sets too soon and Andrade nails him with a kick. Bryan shoots Andrade up and over the top to the floor. Bryan is busted open, and when he goes for a dive, Andrade nails him with a forearm into Bryan’s injured eye.
Andrade locks on the figure four in the middle of the ring, and as Andrade makes it a figure eight, Bryan gets to the ropes for a break. Andrade puts Bryan on the top and follows him there, nailing him with head butts and goes for a superplex from the top. Bryan tries to fight free and nails Andrade with a headbutt. They trade shots on the top and Abndrade finally falls to the mat. Bryan hits the shotgun dropkick from the top and can’t cover.
Bryan gets the yes kicks on AndradeAndrade dodgers the last one and tries for a rollup, but Bryan goes for the Labell lock, and Andrade tries for the figure four, and Bryan makes it a small package for two. They charge at each other and clothesline each other down. They trade shots as they get up and Andrade sets for a Gori Special and slams Bryan into the turnbuckle.
Five minutes remain.
Andrade suplexes Bryan from the top, hits a second suplex and then hits the third for a two count. Andrade calls for a moonsault from the top and Bryan knocks his legs out from under him. Bryan gets an avalanche belly to back front her top for two. Bryan grabs the Lebell Lock, and Andrade gets to the ropes.
Andrade escapes out the back of a suplex and hits a back elbow on Bryan for two. They trade forearms and Bryan gets kicks on Andrade in the corner. He hits a running kick and tries again, and Andrade hits an elbow to drop Bryan. Andrasde lays in blows and then hits the running knees in the corner.
Two minutes remaining.
Andrade hits a DDT for the pin and the win.
Winner: Andrade El Idolo
Once the match turns into “Bryan is fighting as Andrade goes after his injured orbital bone” it went from enjoyable to ghoulish.
Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta come to the ring to check on Bryna with the doctor, and Claudio and Andrade have words.
