You mentioned a week or so ago that MJF is only in a quick scene for the Von Erich movie. People have acted like he's had a major role and it was cut out. Any idea? Do you think Marshall and Ross will be signed by AEW?
I read a script for The Iron Claw in 2022. There were three scenes involving Lance at the time. He is introduced by Fritz as the new Von Erich with the idea Kevin Von Erich isn't happy with the idea of passing him off as legitimate but does what his father wants. There's a scene or so of them in the ring showing it's not working or that the team isn't in sync. There's a scene where Lance demands more money from Fritz and is fired. That's it. It was a small subplot. I don't know if the scenes were filmed and cut or if they were never filmed, but the Lance character was only in the film for a short few scenes when the film was written and that was way before MJF was cast.
I haven't heard if they will be signed but I expect it, unless something goes really wrong with their debut.
This week is the 15th anniversary of Joey Styles punching out JBL overseas. You were the person to break the story, so I was wondering what your first reaction to it was?
My first reaction was to believe it was one of those silly stories that make the rounds and that there was nothing to it, but then I started hearing over and over from talents who were either on the tour or talents who were immediately called by talents returning from the tour, all of whom were telling the exact same story. Usually when something spreads, there are a lot of variations and you have to try and track down the specific truth and wade through a lot of BS to do it. In that instance, the story was pretty much accurate from the jump. Once we were confident with it, we went with it. Once I knew it was true, I was happy for Styles for standing up for himself, although I wasn't surprised he did it. While he basically played Alex P. Keaton on TV, Styles was never a meek person in real life.
I saw it reported elsewhere that AJ Styles was supposed to return last night but he didn't. Any word on where the O.C. are?
Gallows and Anderson were backstage the last two Smackdowns and worked house shows last week. Styles was originally scheduled to return three weeks ago but the return was pushed back a few days before. With Randy Orton and CM Punk returning, it was smart to wait so Styles' return doesn't get lost in the shuffle. He will be back soon. It's just a matter of WWE deciding when. He was never scheduled for this week, so anyone who stated that was inaccurate.
With Endeavor taking over WWE, do you think they will finally put Chris Benoit in the Hall of Fame? If not, I ask this because I am curious - Do you think WWE should remove Tammy Sytch from the Hall of Fame? If you remove Sytch, do they then remove Jimmy Snuka?
No. There is no "finally." It's never, ever going to happen. He was a murderer and one of his victims was his own child. In no word does WWE ever place him on a pedestal, for any reason, nor should they.
I do believe Sytch should be quietly removed and deleted from their Hall of Fame for the same reason Benoit will never be honored.
As far as Snuka, I can see someone arguing that he was never criminally convicted, while Sytch was and that's the difference. If WWE wanted to remove Snuka because of the stigma surrounding his name, I wouldn't argue against it, but my feeling is that WWE will quietly not acknowledge him or Sytch.
No matter what, Benoit is never, ever going in.
I read online there is a Roadhouse remake coming. Assuming his character is in the film, who do you recast in Terry Funk's old role?
Eddie Kingston or Homicide.
If you were going to cast a New Jack movie, who plays New Jack?
Domingo Coleman comes immediately to mind. He could nail Jack's intensity without a problem but might not have the size needed. I always thought Morris Chestnut would make a great New Jack as well, however.
