BRYAN VS. GARCIA AND MORE: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

It is Friday and this week, AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite at the Bell Centre in Montreal QC, Canada. Our commentary team is Ian Riccaboni, Matt Menard, and Tony Schiavone.

Orange Cassidy (AEW International Champion) w/Danhausen and Hook vs Angelico w/Serpentico

They lock up collar and elbow and go to arm bars. They then move to waistlocks and Cassidy gets a takedown and a backslide for two. Cassidy goes for his pockets and Angelico stops him. Cassidy is whipped to the corner, where he goes up and over, and they run the ropes. Cassidy is able to go onto Angelico’s shoulders for the spinning DDT, and Angelico goes to the outside.

Angelico runs into the ring and grabs a double leg takedown and kicks Cassidy in the behind. Cassidy finally gets his hands in his pockets, gets the arm drag and a tijeras. Cassidy’s leg is hurt and when he kips up, he can’t stay on his feet, and Angelico clips Cassidy’s leg again. Cassidy rolls to the floor and the ref starts the count. Angelico rolls Cassidy back in the ring and goes to work on the leg. 

Angelico puts Cassidy in a leg bar and butterflies the arms as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cassidy gets in a series of blows and cannot get the Stundog Millionaire due to his leg. Angelico picks up Cassidy and drops his leg on the top turnbuckle before slamming Cassidy for a two count. Angelico comes off the ropes and Cassidy grabs a small package. They roll through and Cassidy is able to use the momentum for Stundog Millionaire. He follows up with beach break, but can’t cover due to his leg being in pain. Cassidy pulls himself up and calls for the Orange Punch, but Serpentico grabs his leg and allows Angelico to get the big boot.

Angelico goes to the ropes and Danhausen trips him. Serpentico gets on the apron, as does Danhausen. Serpentico charges at Danhausen, and Danhausen dodges the attack and Serpentico hits the floor. 

Danhausen curses Angelico, and Cassidy rolls him up for two. Angelico kicks Cassidy off and Cassidy collides with Danhausen, who falls onto Serpentico. Angelico grapevines the leg and drops onto the mat, following with an ankle lock. Cassidy gets to the ropes, and on the floor, Serpentifco and Danhausen fight on the floor. 

Angelico grabs Cassidy and pulls him off the ropes, but Cassidy uses the momentum for a small package for two. Cassidy gets the Orange Punch and covers for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy

Abadon vs the Already In The Ring Trish Adora

Abadon calls for her to punch her and when she does, Abadon charges her, and Adora hits a series of blows, laughing when Adora chops her. Adora gets a cravat snap mare, and Abadon bites to get out of the grip of Adora. Adora gets a kick and a cover for one. Adora whips Abadon into the corner and charges in, but Abadon leaps up and stomps Adora down to the mat.

Abadon stomps her again. They trade blows and Abadon wins the exchange, beating Adora down on the mat. They fight more and Adora gets a jawbreaker and follows with a pump kick. Abadon follows with two kicks, a running knee, and then Black Dahlia for the pin and the win.

Winner: Abadon

The lights go out and Julia Hart is in the ring when they come back on. Hart lays the TBS title between then and Abadon picks it up. Hart shakes her head and the lights go out. The lights come back up and both Hart and the title are gone.

We get a video to hype the match tomorrow between Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Martinez. 

Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita vs Matt Sydal and Christopher Daniels

Don Callis joins commentary.

Daniels and Hobbs start off and Daniels lays in chops and Hobbs laughs at him. Daniels calls for a chop, and dodges Hobbs’s chop and works over Hobbs with elbows, and Hobbs drops him with one blow. Hobbs works over Daniels in the corner and tags in Takeshita. Takeshita hits a running forearm and then a senton from the second rope. 

Daniels escapes out the back when Takeshita deadlifts him, and Daniels nails a jawbreaker. Sydal is tagged in and gets a series of kicks and tries for a tejaris but Takeshita stops him. Sydal is able to turn it into a wristlock takedown. 

Sydal gets a leaping kick and tries to work him over in the corner, but Takeshita reverses it and gets a series of blows. Takeshita whips Sydal to the corner, and Sydal tries to fight his way out of it. Sydal tries for a meteora, and Takeshita catches him and tosses him into the corner.  Takeshita gets a clothesline as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Sydal has been the babyface in peril through the commercial. Sydal gets a hurancanrana and a leaping knee to get the hot tag to Daniels.  Daniels gets a lot of offense until Hobbs hits a clothesline. Takeshita takes out Sydal on the apron and Hobbs hits a spinebuster and slam for the pin and the win.

Winners: Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita

Renee is with Top Flight and Action Andretti, and they accept Penta’s challenge. 

The Main Event

Bryan Danielson vs Daniel Garcia in a Continental Classic match

They jockey for position before locking up with a Greco-Roman knuckle lock. It turns to wristlock and Bryan takes him down. They go to their feet again and they keep taking each other down and holding the wrists. Bryan grabs the leg and Garcia fights his way free. They go to the corner and Garcia takes his time to give a clean break. They trade waistlocks in the middle of the ring and Bryan gets an Pat O’Connor roll for two. 

Garcia gets a takedown for two and they quickly trade mat holds until Bryan gets to the ropes. They grab a Greco-Roman knuckle lock again into the ropes and break clean. Bryan gets kicks and then starts working Garcia’s leg. Garcia gets a series of blows and they throw hands in the corner. Bryan is tied in the tree of woe and Garcia hits a drop-kick on his for two. 

They then struggle to get a suplex on the other, and Bryan eventually wins the struggle and gets a belly to back on Garcia. We go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Garcia is on the mat and Bryan calls for him to get up. Bryan hits a yes kick and Garcia gets back to his knees to take another one. He takes another kick and gets to hit feet and they start throwing hands. Garcia gets a kick to the Bryan’s jaw and covers for two. Garcia hits a power bomb, but Bryan grabs a head scissors and they throw hands on the mat. Bryan mounts Garcia and starts pounding, but Garcia gets to the ropes for a break.

Bryan calls for the psycho knee. Garcia drops when he sees Bryan charge at him. Garcia grabs an inside cradle for two. He then gets a double leg takedown for a dragon tamer. Bryan grabs Garcia’s head to break the hold and Garcia gets a pile driver for two. Both men struggle to get up. Garcia is up first and says he will kick Bryan’s head in. Garcia hits a series of running kicks and then stomps Bryan down. 

Garcia does the dance and runs into a psycho knee for Bryan for two. Bryan then stomps Garcia’s head in. Bryan gets the LeBell Lock after getting a series of blows. Bryan lays in a series of blows when Garcia turns his hips. Garcia blocks the LeBell Lock and Bryan finally locks it in and Garcia is knocked out.
