New Orleans' Wildkat Sports & Entertainment is looking to close the year strong while prepping for a big 2024.
PWInsider.com has learned that the company has had a new investor come in, purchasing a minority share to help ascend the company upwards locally and beyond with an entire slate of events for 2024 already being locked in. The promotion had paused most of its activity this year while that process played out, plus owner Luke Hawx had been focused on other Hollywood projects, including Starz' Heels and The Iron Claw, which will be released theatrically on 12/20. The plan is to upgrade all aspects of the promotion, including production.
When reached for contact on the new investor, Luke Hawx commented, "I spent the last twelve years building Wildkat from my vision and throughout those years we worked hard to make all those visions successful. This new addition is a major part of that in moving forward with our future and we are looking forward to our partnership."
One ripple effect of the process has been the end of the promotion's longstanding tag team HawxAerie, composed of Luke and his son PJ Hawx, who will no longer be teaming. The duo had worked for several promotions outside of Wildkat, including Billy Corgan's NWA, but will not be teaming going forward, in part because of personal issues between the two. PJ will remain with the promotion and will be booked as a singles talent. At one point, his feud with Stevie Richards was among one of the hottest storylines in the history of the company.
On the real life ending of his team with his son, Hawx said, " Everyone has issues. We haven't seen eye to eye in a long while both personally and professionally and it was best for us to part ways. You can't have a tag team when two people aren't on the same page. We are at different stages in life and I think he doesn't want to just be "Luke Hawx's son." He wants to be his own man. I can respect that, so he'll have to build his own career in the direction he wants it."
Wildkat will be running 12/16 at The Kamp in Harahan, LA featuring:
*Wildkat Revolution Champion Danny Flamingo vs. Suge Whyte.
*PJ Hawx vs. Brady Pierce in a Lumberjack Match.
*Edge Stone vs. Nate Bradley.
*Camus vs. Raza Rayleigh.
