MJF FINDS A PARTNER: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

It is Friday and this week, AEW Rampage is live at the Kia Forum in LA, CA. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho, and Nigel McGuinness.

Christian Cage (TNT Champion) w/ Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne vs Trent Beretta w/No one because he’s a moron

Cage stalls to start and then he and Trent jack jaws. Cage pats Trent in the face and head,  and Trent knocks him down. They lock up collar and elbow and Trent forces them to the corner. They break and when they lock up again, Trent grabs a waistlock. Cage breaks free with back elbows, and Trent dodges Cage’s charge and Cage goes to the floor.

Cage gets back into the ring, argues with the ref and then slams Trent. He beats down Trent in the corner and Trent fights back with a meteora. Cage goes to the floor and Trent dives onto him. Cage gets back in the ring and Trent sets for a spear, but Cage pulls the ref in front of him to stop it. Nick Wayne then hits Trent from behind and Cage comes in the follow up. 

Cage knocks Trent out of the ring and we go to picture in picture. 

When we return to full screen, Cage hits a series of knees, a snap mare and then locks on a rear headlock. Trent works to his feet and Cage gets a series of blows and tosses him over the top rope. Trent hangs on and lands on the apron. Cage charges at Trent, but Trent hits a spear from the apron. They trade blows in the middle of the ring and Trent gets a belly to back suplex. He then gets an elbow and tries for a spinning DDT, but Cage blocks it and hits a Pele kick.

They fight on the turnbuckles and Trent bites Cage. Trentr gets a hurricanrana for two. Cage begs off and whenTrent comes in to attack, Cage pulls him through the ropes and out of the ring. Trent gets back on the apron and leaps to the top, missing a flying cross body. Cage sets for a spear but Trent hits him with a leaping knee, and follows with a spinning DDT for two. 

Trent calls for a charge and hits a running knee for two. Cage sets for a killswitch, but Trent escapes and hits a Strong Zero for two. Luchasaurus goes to get on the apron, which distracts Trent. Cage is able to snap Trent on the top rope and then stomps on the back of Trent’s neck. Cage tosses Trent into the middle turnbuckle. Then he hits the killswitch for the pin and  the win.

Emi Sakura vs Timeless Toni Storm

Toni gets a script from her Butler and when she hands it to Emi, Emi tears it up and attacks Toni. Toni is able to recover and tosses Emi out of the ring by her hair. When Toni goes to fight on the floor, she has her butler help her off the apron. Toni attacks Emi ont he floor and then Toni tosses her into the ring. Her Butler then lifts her up onto the apron. 

Emi, of course, knocks her down and then charges into her on the floor as we go to picture in picture. Sadly, Toni does not tell us we will be right back. 

When we return to full screen, Toni is chopping down Emi and then hits a running bulldog from the corner. Toni hits an over exaggerated roundhouse that knocks Emi to the corner. Toni tries for a hip attack, but instead, Emi hits a Tiger driver for two. Emi then holds Toni upside down for a stalling back breaker for two. 

Emi stands with a foot on Toni’s head. She then goes to the top and misses a moonsault. Toni follows up with a DDT, a hip attack, and a pile driver for the pin and the win.

Winner:  Timeless Toni Storm

On the back, Jay Lethal and the Jeff Jarrett crew are with Eddie Kingston and Renee Paquette. Jay says that Stokely Hathaway has given him a title match for the Ring of Honor World Title tomorrow night. Eddie says that Jay is becoming a coward like Jerrett’s crew. 

Roderick Strong w/The Kingdom vs Action Andretti

Strong attacks Andretti as he gets into the ring and Adndretti recovers and hits a tejaris followed by a drop kick. Andretti then hits a leaping elbow off the bottom rope for two. They fight in the corner and Andretti has the upper hand. They move to another corner and Roddy takes over. Roddy beats down Andretti and rubs his face in the mat. 

Roddy and Andretti move to fighting in the corner and Roddy asserts control again. Andretti is able to get a Manhattan drop, a back kick and a spinning neckbreaker for two. Andretti hoists Roddy and Roddy escapes and goes for a rollup for two. Roddy tries for a subset flip, but Andretti blocks it and drops Roddy for two. Roddy goes to the outside as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Abdretti gets a jaw breaker and then a flipping back elbow on Roddy. He tosses Roddy to the floor and the Kingdom helps Roddy up and Andretti gets a kick into them. Andretti then hits a moonsault from the apron using the ropes. Roddy is rolled into the ring and Roddy rolls out of the way of a 450 splash. Andretti hits a Spanish Fly and the ref calls in the doctor to check on Roddy. 

The doctor leaves the ring and Roddy gets to his feet. Andretti tries for a sunset flip and Roddy grabs his legs for a two count. Andretti leaps off the top rope into a kick from Roddy, and Roddy follows up with the back breaker for the pin and the win.

Winner: Roderick Strong

In the back, Renee is with Jay White. She asks him about The Devil, and Jay says he says it is more important the he is the E in AEW, and he says MJF is the devil, but the Gunn will dismantle MJF before Full Gear even starts. Jay says the gap between them is vast and he will show the world tomorrow. Jay then says fans will get more of the Bang Bang Gang. MJF then attacks Jay and is beating down Jay, but MJF is attacked from behind by Juice Robinson. Juice is beat down by MJF and Jay takes off.  MJF is chasing him and they get into the ring and beats him down. Austin Gunn attacks and MJF is able to take him down. Colton then attacks and MJF beats him down.  

MJF is able to grab his belt, but the Gunns and Jay are able to regroup, attack MJF and take the belt back. 

We then hear Samoa Joe’s music and Joe is able to clear the ring. MJF and Joe are in the ring and Bullet Club back away with the title. Joe holds out his hand for MJF to shake. Joe grabs his hand and they will be tagging tomorrow at Zero Hour.
