AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2023-11-15 20:40:00

It is Wednesday and this week Dynamite is at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA. The commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Taz, and Excalibur.

We start with a recap of the Acclaimed being attacked by the Men In Black.

Orange Cassidy and Hook vs Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta

Hook and Cassidy attack Mox and Yuta as they come to the ring through the crowd, sop it’s a brawl through the crowd, and they brawl to the ring with Yuta and Hook making it into the ring. Mox is able to make it to the ring next as Cassidy has to recover from Mox’s beating. Hook is fighting against both Mox and Yuta as if it is a handicap match.

Hook is the babyface in peril and Cassidy is hurt and slowly makes his way to the ring. Cassidy finally makes it to the ring and gets the hot tag and shows the new “soft kicks” where he starts soft and works his way up to brutal kicks. Cassidy’s attacks are cut off by Yuta as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cassiday has been in the ring as the babyface in peril and Mox mocking him with soft kicks. Cassidy stops him with a drop kick and Hook gets the hot tag this time. Yuta and Hook throw hands in the middle of the ring and Hook finally takes over. They trade German suplexes, and Hook has to sell for one of the few times in his career, and they clothesline each other down.

As they get up, Mox and Cassidy brawl on the floor. Hook gets the upper hand and is stopped by Mox, who hits him with a surprise cutter. Mox then shrugs off an Orange Punch, knocking Cassidy to the floor.  Yuta follows up Mox’s attack on Hook with a seat belt for the pin and the win.

Winners: Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta

Mox and Yuta get the win ahead of their singles matches.  Mox says he will course correct and he will win the International Championship at the PPV.

We get a video of Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Koto Ibushi and Paul Wight in suits on their way to the arena.

In the ring, Tony Schiavone brings out Swerve Stricklan and Hangman Adam Page, saying if they attack each other before the match Saturday, they will be suspended for the rest of the year.

If I were Page, I’d just attack Swerve and take the holidays off, but I'd be happy with a month off for the holidays.

Page grabs the mic and says Swerve went into his house because he’s a dumbass. Page then says Swerve being a coward is why his kids won’t talk to him and his girlfriend left him. He throws in some insider stuff about Swerve getting fired from WWE, and then says Prince Nana buys weed from high school kids.

Page then attacks Prince Nana instead of Swerve.

Swerve pulls Nana out of the ring and then hits a Buckshot lariat on a member of the security.

Yet another weird promo that doesn’t quite make a lot of sense from Page.  With him coming out on top last week and this week, it really seems like Swerve is just laying back and letting Page burn himself out.

In the back, Lexi Nair is with Roderick Strong and The Kingdom, and Roddy says he knows who the Devil is. We get ADAM! Coel on the screen, and he tells ADAM! MJF is the Devil. ADAM! says he thinks Roddy is the devil and Roddy says that, on his life, MJF is the Devil. ADAM! Has to go.

Skye Blue vs Red Velvet

Blue is back in her Scooby Doo inspired gear after weeks of wearing black gear. Red does most of the physical work for the start of the match as Blue still acts spooky and kind of heelish. Blue takes over when the match moves to the floor and we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Blue is in charge. Blue and Velvet do the back and forth rollups spot until they are both spent. They then move to a series of final move/near falls that the crowd buys into. Velvet’s work has a lot of snap to it, and Blue gets to be the power wrestler in thai and does a good job with it. Blue finally wins with Code Blue for the pin and the win.

Winner: Skye Blue

And we see Julia Hart and Kris Statlander are watching on.

We get a promo from Miro that his Hot Flexible wife wants Gold and power, and she brings the worst out of him, and he will destroy Daniel Garcia. Good promo from Miro.

RJ is with Mariah May and he says he can introduce her to Toni Storm

The sign on the door says Not Toni Storm. When Luther opens the door, everything turns black and white. May explains she is also a wrestler and a huge fan, and Toni, who is reclining on a chaise lounge, treats her as a fan looking for an autograph.

Toni then asks for a tune up match on Friday and a Loofa.

Samoa Joe vs the Already in the Ring Jon Cruz

Thanks for coming, Jon. Joe wins with the Coquina Clutch.

Winner: Samoa Joe

Joe grabs a mic and says MJF is in need of a friend, and whether he accepts the offer or not, he is inevitable.

We then get a recap of 9ony Khan and Bryan Danielson’s announcement of the Continental Classic tournament. It looks to be a smaller version of the G1 Tournament.

Penta and Komander vs The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

It’s clear as the match starts that they are going to have a spot to show that the Bucks have turned heel. After the first flurry of offense, the Bucks shake hands with Penta and Komander before hitting them with super kicks, and the announcers put over that the Buck blame the loss fo the 6 man titles on Chris Jericho.

Komander and Penta pull out the rocket launcher, a move I haven't seen in a long time. From there, it seems like a “greatest hits” collection as the go from Big Move to Big Move. Because we haven’t had one of these matches on AEW in a while, it does come off better, and since we are in the Bucks backyard, the crowd is really into it.

As they move to near falls, Penta plays to the crowd and they are happy to chant along.

Tony says he is seeing things he’s never seen before, which makes me wonder if he has ever paid attention to a Young Bucks match.

Nick nails Komander and Penta with low blows when the ref isn’t watching, leading to the crowd booing. Komander takes the BTE Trigger after giving him a Judas Effect and Nick gets the pin and the win.

Winners: The Young Bucks

In the back, Lexi is with the Bucks and she asks them why they cheated. Matt says sources report the Bucks no longer care what people think. Kenny shows to confront them, and the Bucks say they don’t have heat with him, it’s with Jericho. Jericho shows and tells Kenny they have to get ready for their match. When they turn to leave, the Bucks go after Jericho and they are pulled apart by security.

The Gunns (Austin and Colton) vs the Already in the ring Peter Avalon and Jacobi

The Gunns pyro leaves a ton of smoke in the arena. Jacobi, who doesn’t get to have a first name, gets a 3:10 to Yuma immediately.

Winners: The Gunns

The Gunns, Juice Robinson and Cardboard Jay White grab a mic. They say that they showed what they did against two people, and with MJF on his own, he will lose the Ring of Honor tag team titles on Saturday.

We then get a promo from Wardlow as we show him destroying opponents, and he says MJF’s days are running out.

It is time for the street fight.

The Don Callis Family (Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita, Brian Cage and Kyle Fletcher) vs Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Paul Wight

Callis joins commentary.

Jericho and Wight are in Reservoir Dogs suits.

They start the brawl as soon as Wight is introduced and they start brawling all around the stage and ramp.  Wight choke slams Fletcher off the ramp into a table and then goes back stage. Ibushi fights with Cage down to the ring and when he dumps Cage, Takeshita takes his place, and Omega joins Ibushi and we get some of their old Golden Lovers moves.

We then see that Wight has taken Hobbs outside and they are fighting around a limo.

Omega and Jericho bring out the weapons, including a barbed wire bat, and they get the upper hand. Ibushi is on the ramp with a bike and a lead pipe and he head down to ringside, and Cage clotheslines him off the bike.

Outside, Hobbs slams Wight onto the limo.

In the ring, Takeshita is using the bike as a weapon. Ibushi is abel to get a brain buster on the bike as we go to picture in picture.

When we come back to full screen, Jericho and Takeshita are fighting in the concourse. Fletcher and Cage are working over Omega in the ring with weapons and drop him on a wooden pallet. Omega is able to mount a comeback and we intercut between that fight and Jericho and Takeshita fighting in the concourse.

In the ring, Omega and Ibushi call for the Golden Trigger, but Hobbs breaks it up. We see that Fletcher had been busted open when Omega nailed him with a bottle. Cage is on the second rope and suplexes Omega through a pair of tables at ringside as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Jericho has made it back to  the ring when Hobbs works him over. It’s then time for each person to take out the last person who came into the ring. Fletcher then hits a leaping tombstone off the apron through a sign on chairs at ringside. Jericho and Omega double team Hobbs and then Jericho duct tapes Hobbs to the ropes, just like was done to Jericho.

And Callis says it’s disgusting.  They duct tape Hobbs mouth shut.

Then chairs are then brought into the ring and they go after Hobbs with it. Cage cuts Omega off and then hits a pump handle slam on Jericho. Omega and Jericho double team Cage to take him out. Omega gets the one winged angel on Cage for the pin and the win.

Winners:  Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Paul Wight

Callis says the Brian Cage screwed the family tonight.

MJF is on his way to the ring as we come back from the rundown of Friday night’s Rampage and Collision show.

MJF says that after the attack on the Acclaimed, no matter how hard he tries to outrun his past, it keeps catching up with him. He apologizes to them and says he’s sorry they got hurt. He says all he has wanted to be is a world champion, and he has made it to the top of the mountain. He says now that he is on top, everyone wants to shove him off and he says he is afraid he could lose everything, and he’s afraid he will let the fans down.

He then says they better have a whole army to bring him down. He then says that Jay can’t take his spot, and he doesn’t think anyone can. He then says to the man who stole his devil mask, he will find out who he is and when he does, there will be Hell to Pay.

We then get the music for Bullet Club Gold and Jay White comes to the stage. He says he knows MJF is the man in the mask. He says MJF has always been the villain and always will be. Jay says he’s not the hero. Jay says he is better than MJF and he has two words for MJF: Get him.

The Gunns and Juice Robinson attack. Juice hits the Left Hand of God, and the Gunns hit 3:10 to Yuma. Jay then hits the Blade Runner and pins him as Juice counts three.

Jay stands over MJF with the belt held high and we are desperately out of time and Samoa Joe is watching back stage
